    I have a Medtronic 670g. The one thing I wash I knew was that it doesn’t respond as well as they say to sport and high activity levels. It takes time to learn of to react. Normally change to daily life such as Covid home working or high sport activity takes around a week for pump to learn and still not perfect. Overall I love the pump though really happy.
    Thanks @nerdabetic, another great video.

      I have the same pump. It's a loan for 3months from the company till my medical pays for my own... Only thing that bothers me is the crappy app. They mostly supple apple and it does not do much. They only support a handful of phones. Other than that it's really a amazing device. The upgraded one I'm. Getting will work even better.... Too bad it uses the same app as the old one

    THIS is how I choose my pumps. I legit wrote down this is what I want. Writing out each pump and the features I like. I met with every rep so I could play with the pump to do fake boluses, site changes, get more information. For my first pump I didn't really talk to anyone just BC I was a year into diagnosis and didn't know anyone. But this time around I asked people on instagram and people were super helpful telling me their Yays and nays of their systems. From there I made a decision. ALL pumps are great but certain ones will fit your personal lifestyle better. Always remember that!

    Here in France I chose an Omnipod because it is tubeless & on prescription. 'Talk to your heathcare professional made me smile' since my local doc laughed & said I was not 'bad enough' & recently my diabétologue (consultant) said the same when I asked about the Dexcom G5 on prescription! Spoke to Dexcom in UK who were great & sent the G6 next day to son in UK & it's on it's way. Have been using Libre with MiaoMiao bluetooth sender & smartwatch & changing due to occasional 'out of synch' with actual blood-sugar. Next I will look up your 'extend Dexcom life' vid. Many thanks for your well informed information & updates. 💥❤💖

    I am using the Roche Insight pump. It is nice and small, fits easily in your pocket. Only downside is the low amount of insulin that goes into the reservoir, although I don't find that a big deal. The remote is horribly slow. Measuring glucose + insulin advice takes me 3 (!) minutes altogether. I wish would have known that before. I have it 3,5 years now. I was lucky back then that I could start using the Libre 1 instead measuring glucose with the remote.
    I recently learned that the insight can also be used with looping. Also recently bought a miao miao 2, so I will take a look into that :)

I started before that researching online; however, when I went to visit my Diabetic Educator through my doctor's office, it was a VERY useful trip. The Tandem is what I would be getting because it's the one insurance will pay for (I'm on Medicaid - gov't insurance for persons below a certain income level). I've been watching tons of videos on it, but it's still intimidating-looking and so much to learn about.

    I like you highlighting "unusual" criteria like luggage space needed - daily use is the criteria doctors seem to forget easily ;-)
    I am stuck at "O" however - finding a loopable pump to replace my vintage Medtronic 754 (and the official 640G I am not using any more). Omnipod Eros seems to reach EOL, Dana is not loopable any more at the moment, Tidepool compatible pumps are promised to be released in a few years. So I hope you'll be able to report a new available option for Europe soon.

    Nice Job.I always check into what my insurance covers,but comfort is always appreciated in any units.I just got an omnipod to try and it gets the signal of a dexcom G6 sensor i already have worn.The problem i see is,omnipod needs to be pointed over to the dexcom sensor to get a wifi signal.You cant block the unit.It seems like a bulky sweater or just no alighned good could give an error.If i have this often,i would prefer not having to do this all with 2 pieces that need to point at each other.I would prefer to have one slim unit that wont be throwing all error codes for that alignment issue.I just want something accurate and if it can be on my cell phone even better.

    One thing I wish I knew about my pump before getting it? I have the Medtronic 670G pump and its accompanying CGMS. It works, somewhat, kind of, fairly well. But I wish I had known it is not aggressive enough. It tends to let blood sugars drift higher and higher and gives such tiny amounts of basal insulin that it has no affect. Or not enough affect soon enough.

    • @Docwood13
      @Docwood13 3 роки тому +2

      I have the absolute same problem with my Medtronic 670G! I just give it an OK rating only.

    • @quantumquantum5581
      @quantumquantum5581 3 роки тому

      U know u can increase the amount of insulin it gives? If you in auto mode rather go to manual and set it up with the settings you want. You can set hourly how much to give. Real easy

    • @russellseaton2014
      @russellseaton2014 2 роки тому

      @@quantumquantum5581 Manual mode on the 670G pump turns off the Auto mode feature. Manual makes it into a regular pump. Just like pumps have been for the past 20-30 years or so. And you set your own basal insulin schedule. But this turns off the Auto function. Auto is the improvement, feature, on the 670G. Auto allows the 670G to change basal insulin minute by minute based on CGMS blood sugars. Auto sort of replicates what the pancreas does. Auto mode is the only reason to get the 670G. So why would you use the Manual mode for basal insulin? Makes no sense.

    • @riskerin
      @riskerin 2 роки тому

      I agree that the 670G is “okay”. I wish I would have known how much work it is to stay in Automode for me. And even with the proprietary CGM how often one has to prick a finger to calibrate, or even between calibrations how often a blood glucose is requested by the pump to maintain Automode. I’m very interested in T-Slim or the new Omnipod 5 next

I wish I knew that the cannula set is not very resilient and rips out easily if you drop the pump or when you are sleeping and the tubing gets caught. Otherwise I really love the pump. Hi Sam. There is no ‘drive pin’ on the Dàna RS or Dàna-i insulin pumps. If you mean the ‘Linking Screw’, this simply rotates to drive the blue top hat which in turn drives the syringe within the pump. If this is sticking, it just needs cleaning with a small brush or you can replace it with the spare linking screw provided in the starter kit. Hope this advice helps others… 🙂

    I have had diabetes for 30 years my hba1c has Been 49 mmol/l for last 3 appointments it’s hovered around there for last 30 years BUT my daily sugars bounce around a LOT. I am now using spike app; freestyle libre with Miao mioa 2. I was reluctant to use a pump as I felt free just using my insulin pen at meal times meant I wasn’t hooked up to something and I could forget about diabetes sometimes ( not easy ). Consultants also sometimes said a pump may not improve my hba1c. That was before looping caught my attention. So now I’ve seen how amazingly consistent a closed loop system will keep my sugars ( even just overnight would be awesome ). My question is how long would you recommend between moving to a pump - as soon as lockdown is over and to start looping ? I am a pharmacist so have a good grasp on carb counting insulin sensitivity carb ratios nasal rates etc . I have pretty much already decided I like omnipod as no tubes(yuk) I’ve bought a Riley link will I be able to use this and my libre which I get free on nhs ?

      Steven - if you look into the loopdocs.org or in one of the looper forums at facebook, you'll find that you should use the pump without Loop for a few weeks or better a few months. This is to learn about issues that will happen (e.g. cannula not inserted correctly, inflammation, doing too much sports, Omnipod failing, ...). If as soon as you have a good experience dealing with this, you should add Loop. Otherwise you cannot be sure if you have a connection problem between iPhone, Rileylink and Omnipod, if the insulin just got bad, or the omnipod is one of the faulty ones. It adds complexity. And - using a pen is the fallback to using the pump. And using (only) the pump is the fallback option to using Loop (e.g if Dexcom is not working, iPhone was stolen (happend to me in Barcelona!!) - you name it. You should always have a solid foundation that could serve as a backup.

      Let me give you some advice from an old guy. I'm 71 and been on insulin since 1970. I totally understand you want to be like everyone else but it would be in your best interest that at least a few of your closest friends know your are diabetic. Reason: If you have a problem, either diabetic related or not, and you cannot communicate. at least a friend can tell the paramedics you are diabetic and they can determine the proper treatment more quickly. There is a very good chance your friends know someone diabetic and what they have to content with. Advantage is that they won't pressure you into eating, drinking, or doing something you could do without. Trying to manage diabetes is difficult enough without needing outside help at some point i.e. many points during your lifetime. Trust me on this bit of advice. And good luck to you.

    🌎 What if there is a God, and he has made his will known to his creation through his word? What if in his word you find the complete opposite is true to your current ideology? What if because you rejected his word by your own free will to rebel, are judged according to the words of God that you rejected🤔 Does this make God that evil or unjust God you speak of because of your own decision to reject him 🤔
    RECEIVE THE GIFT OF ETERNAL LIFE ! !
    If you are here and are not a believer in Christ Jesus, your only concern should be your reconciliation with God,, as you (and all of humanity) have been separated from Him because of sin and are awaiting His righteous judgment. As a perfectly just and Holy God, he cannot arbitrarily pardon your sin, anymore than a good judge would allow a convicted child molester to walk out of the courtroom without punishment. ANY offense toward God, however, is of an infinite nature. Being an infinite God, and of infinite worth and power, our rebellion (lack of keeping His commands PERFECTLY) necessitates an infinite punishment i.e. hell. God’s loving nature engenders the absolute hatred of evil which would include you and I. Our case is a hopeless one, indeed…. BUT….
    Jesus Christ came in the flesh to atone for the sin of humanity (John 1:14), offering Himself as the spotless sacrifice pleasing to The Father (Hebrews 9:22/1 Peter 1:19), as men are utterly hopeless to save themselves (Ephesians 2:1 & 8). He bore the sin of the world and the very wrath of God (1 John 2:2/ Matthew 27:46), that whosoever would come to Him (John 3:16), forsaking their sin, could do so through His shed blood. He was crucified unto death. He rose again from the dead on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Those who believe in their heart and confess with their tongue that Jesus is Lord and that God raised Him from the dead shall be saved; to the glory of God the Father (Romans 10:9). Christ is seated at the right hand of God having been given all power and dominion (Romans 8:34/Ephesians 1:20-23). He will return for His bride (the church) and establish His kingdom (John 14:3). He will judge the world in righteous judgment (Revelation 20:11-15) The Holy Spirit, being God, has been sent as earnest for true believers until Christ returns (2 Corinthians 1:22). He dwells in true believers and guides them into all truth (John 14:16-17, 26/John 16:13). REPENT! For the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand (Matthew 4:17).🌹
