This is a fantastic video! It was very informative and help me make the decision about which echinacea would be best in my yard. I also like that you got down to business with sharing information! Thank you.
I love coneflowers & have 5 that I’ve either split or have come back from dropped seeds from 1 Cheyenne spirit I purchased. I have mostly sun so get lots of tips from watching your videos. Thanks so much 😊
I love coneflowers and blackeyed Susan’s. And so do the Japanese beetles and earwig bugs. I have several plants in my gardens and the bugs devour them every year. I do spray with Neem Oil which helps a little. Your gardens are beautiful!
It can be an interesting game when you pick something up that has the wrong tag 🤪 Though I have some pale yellow blooms starting, so it's still a wait and see.
I got sun seeker rainbow coneflower from lows and planted where it gets 5-6 hours direct sunlight. After 2 days it got badly dried up. I don’t n ow what happened. Your flowers are looking beautiful!
@googleuser3642 oh noooo!! I'm sorry to hear that, that's a huge bummer!! They should be absolutely fine in that amount of light, so I wonder if they were really water deprived at the store? Ugh. Thank you for reaching out!
You have magnificent plants. Here, in Swizerland, the choice is not so wide. I've collected seeds... but germination is very very difficult. I have tried many ways with very little success. Do you have a tip?
Hi there! What is the weather like for the most part where you are? I assume you've tried in sunnier locations and shadier ones, so besides weather, I'm wondering if soil could be a problem? I had better luck growing in rich soil than I do in the sandy soil I have now.
Hi there! Somehow your message slipped through the cracks and I missed it until now - I'm sorry about that! Those Hostas were given to me from my mom, so I'm not sure of the variety, but they are nothing fancy or exotic. They do better in less sun than I have them in and they show heat stress this time of year. I have a lot of them because I always divide and transplant, so I test them in different light conditions. Sorry I wasn't more helpful!
You really made me think with this question, as that had not occurred to me, and I've never had that problem. My thought is if both plants have room, there shouldn't be competition in that way. I have both flowers NEAR each other, but not super close that this would have been a concern. Thanks for the great question!
Yes, I fertilize them. My black-eyed susans are crazy growers, so I could fertilize them or not, but all the kinds of Echinacea I definitely do. 😄 Good luck, I hope yours look awesome!
It's so pretty. I live in Louisiana......so I know the heat and humidity very well and what it does to plants. We went almost 60 days without a drop of rain July--part of September 😢
@@jennylynn5307 the lack of rain is awful!! Hope you are now getting a break from the insane heat like we are in Southeastern NC! Both us and our plants need it!!
Open-pollinated seeds (so ones we're currently growing outside) can be saved and grow true to type. When you save the seed from the variety you are growing, and replant the next year, it will grow the same. Unless you mean starting the plants from seeds initially? Which I don't do myself. Sorry if I misunderstood.
Love, love, love coneflowers!
@@carolshaver742 yesss!! Definitely!!
Cheyenne Spirit flowered for me in the first year, which is a big plus.
Definitely! Love to hear it.
Outstanding video! You are very clear and have wonderful energy! Clapping from Norfolk, Va.
@wilheminaboone1107 awe, what a wonderful message to receive, thanks so much!
We have “Denver Daisy” and now I’m looking to pair it with “Cheery Brandy” thanks for sharing, truly enjoyable garden
Oh my, Cherry Brandy is absolutelystunning! 🤩 Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊

I appreciate this message very much and am thankful for the positive feedback! Good luck with your Echinacea! 💚
I love them too, My is so tall and big
Awe that's great! You're lucky. Hopefully mine will get there! 😊
I love the shorter echinacea. I started with traditional puerpera and they tend to fall over when tall.
I've had the same experience! So very true!
I love purple cone flower and red. I live in Utah, and we have hot summers. I can't wait to plant them.
I love Utah - beautiful landscape! Enjoy your beautiful coneflowers.
thank you
Thank you!

I love that they multiply and we can divide them! Thank you for your kind words! 😊🌺

Nice garden and great selection of coneflowers. I am starting my garden and I have a few can’t wait until they bloom. Keep the great job.
Thank you so much for your kind words! Coneflowers are just so simple and delightful. Good luck with your garden! 😊🌼
Beautiful gardens ❤🌻 thanks for sharing the information.
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😊 ❤️
Just bought my first sunseeker citrus
Thanks for the great info
Ooo, that sounds great! Good luck with it!
Those Cheyenne spirits look more like pow wow white E. Purpurea. :)

@mycarolinagarden my soil is very clayey and heavy. It is like cement. Not ideal texture.
What are the yellow flowers next to them at 3:35? I love them next to each other
Evening Primrose. Great spring flowers, but crazy spreaders, so I'd only recommend them if you have the space ☺
@@mycarolinagarden oh thank you!
What variety of hosta is that at the beginning of the video? Mine that are supposed to like sun are really struggling. Thanks!

Can i mix them with Daylillies. My lillies are very well established. I worry that the rhizomes will kill the Cone Flower.

Coneflowers are one of my favorite I have a few types in my garden but I am new to these guys, do you fertilize them ???
Yes, I fertilize them. My black-eyed susans are crazy growers, so I could fertilize them or not, but all the kinds of Echinacea I definitely do. 😄 Good luck, I hope yours look awesome!
They may start in early Spring in your zone but not all. I live in zone 5/6 and they start mid Summer.
Of course, absolutely. I often say I speak from my own growing experience where I live.
@@mycarolinagarden Oh well I never saw the channel before so all I heard was early Spring bloom.
Hi what is the yellow flower by the Pow Wow Coneflower?
Hi! That's Evening Primrose 😊

Why are they next to the shade hostas?
@@lisaporter9162 just little experiment with the Hostas, which have actually grown tremendously there
@@mycarolinagarden Wonderful. I will try that. Can I easily split?
@lisaporter9162 absolutely! I like to split mine in early spring before all the foliage gets big
@@mycarolinagarden Sorry to bother you again. My zone is 8b, Portland (western) Oregon, you are 8a and South Carolina. Hmm. Thanks for your time.
do they do ok in clay. I am zone 9 but horrible clay
Hmm, I'm not sure about that. My soil is sandy, so I have a different challenge. 😕
I have established plants but they are drying out and going to die.... I water a little every day... Full sun! What am I doing wrong???
Do they only look dry, or do you happen to see any mildew or black spots on them?
The only flower I have never killed 😅
Haha - I can appreciate that!!
Are any of these flowers genetically altered? If so, what color is natural?
There are multiple varieties of both native echinacea and hybrids. Native echinacea only comes in purple, pale purple, or yellow.
The seeds if grown, wont back true to type, will they? Figure since theyre not open-pollinated. Like its a hybrid, right?
