The ps mini was worth it alone just for FF7. I can guarantee you will not get anywhere close to the amount of game play on this as you will on some classic ps1 games. plus hacking it is fantastic.

Well there was Clockwork Knight, Panzer Dragoon, Dark Savior, Bug, Shining Force 3 to start. Some may have been on other consoles but these come to mind for Saturn for me.
I got this as a birthday present from my wife but I won't be able to open it till my actual birthday in December. I've grown up with at least half of these games. it's an absolutely great buy. you got some amazing 16-bit games. going to keep busy for a long time .$80 in my book is a steel and it was all emulated by M2 so the quality is top-notch
Hello fellow Canadian :) I agree our prices in Canada are ridiculous! We pay for a new console everytime we buy 6-7 new games! You would think someone with 3 brothers as I do it would be cheaper to split but we can't all play then lol I think the X-Box Game Pass is a good way for Canadians to decide if they wanna play a game! Or if they wanna beat it on the pass and buy it when it's cheaper! I still think Canadians should only have to pay 40$ for only online games..

The Mega Drive first came out in Japan in 1988 and then the Genesis came out in 1989. The Mega Drive image you showed there was a Japanese one :) The European version had white on it instead of red and blue.
The circle and arrow being drawn really helped me know what you were talking about regarding the 3 button controller. Would have never figured it out otherwise.
Paid 32 bucks for mine from Amazon. Just played Golden Axe for a minute. The memories. We had the Sega Channel back in the day. I think it was like 50 games a month. Good times as well.
This system is basically where I got into gaming, I definitely am buying one of these. Beyond Oasis was such a good game. I just wish Shadow run, battle toads, mutant league hockey, micro machines, nba jam and a bunch of other games were on this.

A bit later than this vid, but I just got this at walmart for $60. I just turned 40 and I had a sega in the early 90s. It's just like I remember, really. Console looks exactly the same just smaller, and controllers are actual size. Best thing about this is you can save games. Mostly you couldn't do that back then. I wish a few other titles were on there besides some of the chosen ones, but overall pretty cool!

I really hope this is the last one. After this, I want Sega to start looking at their back catalog of consoles. ah the 16 bit wars. Megadrive had some really good games: Shining force 1 and 2, Phantasy star, the sports games, etc... but lets keep it real. As soon as Snes came out, it interrupted segas bragging about being the fastest/best/etc system and was promptly told "hold my beer."

42 games + 2 controllers for $80 ($100 in Canada) is actually reasonable. You're essentially paying less than $0.50 per game. That's a pretty decent deal.
Genesis 3 varients sold 44 million. SNES 2 varients sold 49 million. Genesis had 7 other official varients. Including Samsung jvc ibm etc. Do the math, it sold great.
I bought the sega collection on steam, came with a bunch of games and nowadays they have the steam workshop for pretty much any game that ever existed on the genesis. Think I bought it on sale for like 5 bucks at christmas last year.

I think it would have been great if they added the feature to plug in original cartridge games into it so if you have all your old games you can plug and play them with this, like come on they added the slot for them with working flaps in the design like would it have been so hard to add the connector to plug in old games?

Sega Genesis Mini is absolutely the best. Getting this and replaying Sonic and other games would be a blast. Way better then Nintendo! Nintendo 64 is impressive though not then Dreamcast!
Here is my take, the build quality is great, the emulation is good, controllers are decent to good (depending if you played the original) 42 games to include 2 exclusives is worth probably a few hundreds if not more, interface is decent, save feature included, ability to play different versions with different covers including Asia and European releases is well thought out to give it an extra universal marketing edge. Whoever is complaining stick to your cartridges, nothing wrong with that. The U. S market is extremely diverse and I believe Sega genuinely took the time to keep everyone happy. Remember Sega has not built official hardware in a long while and looking at the attention to detail on this really hope they keep going. If you can afford it, I think it's worth that $80, if you can't that's O.k too.
when is the N64 mini coming? I think it would be cool if they made it with a working cartage slide like in the original. then it opens up the option of bundling a bunch of games in a single cartage to switch them out and play on the mini console like the original console did. and it would open up options to play more games as well and potentially making the concept of mini consoles into a bigger idea than what they have now.
Why not just buy a n64 if thats what you want? Either way the n64 mini would be a bad idea, its not nearly as classic as the snes or nes, the graphics didnt age well, the controller sucks and the games arent quick to jump into like older games which is what gave them their appeal.
The lack of Maximum Carnage, NBA Jam, Aladdin, are what are keeping me from dropping 80 bucks on this thing because those three games chewed up years of my childhood.
I bought 2 Retro Bit 6 button controllers early in the year. They are just chillin until that time comes. I dont plan on using the in-box controllers at all.

The Snes Classic was $80 and only had 21 games, so I would say that a Genesis Mini for $80 with 42 games is well worth it!

This was Sega's best console and one of the best consoles of all time. I got one when i was 10 years old and i loved it.

As long as you don't mind about sound lag. I want my ring sound when I touch my ring, not after. Especially when free emulation online does it better.

I think it would be cool if they made it with a working cartage slide like in the original. then it opens up the option of bundling a bunch of games in a single cartage to switch them out and play on the mini console like the original console did. and it would open up options to play more games as well and potentially making the concept of mini consoles into a bigger idea than what they have now.
Why not just buy a n64 if thats what you want? Either way the n64 mini would be a bad idea, its not nearly as classic as the snes or nes, the graphics didnt age well, the controller sucks and the games arent quick to jump into like older games which is what gave them their appeal.
if u have a pc u can use project64 emulator its one of the best if not u can buy yourself a n64 like the guy mentions above

I played with the three button controllers growing up. Not a problem for me.
The lack of Maximum Carnage, NBA Jam, Aladdin, are what are keeping me from dropping 80 bucks on this thing because those three games chewed up years of my childhood.
i already got mine modded to include all the games this vid said it wished it had. so im glad. gotta get me the 6 button controllers though.

I bought 2 Retro Bit 6 button controllers early in the year. They are just chillin until that time comes. I dont plan on using the in-box controllers at all.
Im pretty sure its worth it for genesis fans. I paid the same amount for SNES Classic with 21 games. To this day, Im still happy with my purchase.
