- Hello 2024! And hello UA-cam! Just want to provide an update about my life (I know nobody cares but whatever) and talk about my plans and expectations for 2024, both language wise and life wise. *I just started writing my own Kung Fu/Wuxia novel and I really have high hopes for it. Let's see how it goes.

This marks my debut comment on UA-cam, having been a loyal follower of your channel. The narratives in your videos evoke a subtle sense of nostalgia in me. Extended moments during showers and, yes, those prolonged bathroom breaks, often leave me pondering aimlessly. Perhaps, the dawn of 2024 doesn't necessarily guarantee a brighter experience than its predecessor, 2023.
Damn, you look like somebody who really needs a big hug... whatever is going on in your life rn, I'm sure you're gonna get through it just fine :) Sending love & support from UA
Thanks a lot! I’m actually okay I was just a bit tired on that day! But still, thank you! ❤️
I admire you.
Wish you the best in this year.
Thank you! And all the best to you too!
❤this video motivated me to continue my language journey
Glad to hear that! Thank you for your support!
Excited for your book !
Your videos are super helpful and I love forward to seeing the jeju video, I've always been interested in 제주 사투리!!
and I'm looking forward*
Thank you so much for your support! I studied the Jeju language for a few weeks but unfortunately nobody spoke it with me in Jeju haha, but it's really a fun language and has many interesting words.
The concept of reaching more into the inactive vocab is pretty interesting, that is what I am struggling with in spanish.. to some point we reach a plateau.. will do the same for 2024!
I feel like my Spanish has plateaued, I need to put more work into it too!
Always appreciate your content Phoenix! 西语我学了两年半,还在pre-B2,你精益求精的精神也激励我啦,继续加油~祝2024顺利!Can’t wait to read your book 🎉🎉
Can't wait to read your book one day in the future bro, awesome to hear about it
My 2024 goal is to read every 余华 book, currently 2.9/21 lol - really loving his stuff
Happy New Year 2024🎉❤
Thank you! Happy new year to you too!!!
Happy 2024, Phoenix! As someone else said, your content always boosts my motivation, so I have to thank you for that.
Regarding venturing into C2 territory though, I'm not quite sure just reading and talking to yourself will be enough, but again it depends on your personal goals and how you view yourself as a user of the target language. If you want to transfer passive vocabulary to active especially when speaking, I'd say you have to spend a lot of time talking and sharing with natives, otherwise you won't use natural collocations and the word choice will be awkward. At such high level, languages become more and more a matter of 语言习惯,搭配 and all that jazz that is almost impossible to grasp on your own.
Maybe reading a ton of content helps 突破口 in that realm of the written language, but I'm not sure about the actual spoken, everyday language.
Thanks for the content and see you on the next one!
PD: native Spanish speaker here, feel free to reach out if you need anything 😊👍
Thanks a lot for your comment and your support! I I think writing surely is the highest level of employment of any language. And I’ll try to write more in my languages as well. Hopefully you’ll be able to see my improvements next time you hear my Spanish
Good job! Man. You can speak so many kinds of language.
But I feel like the staircase tends to get longer and longer the higher you go up. The distance between C1 and C2 has to be pretty steep, like most natives aren't even at that level right? So it may take a bit longer, however I have no doubt that you'll get there. 😊
Best of luck to you this year and I hope you reach your goals!
Thank you! All the best to you too!🎉
Awesome video dude, very inspirational. In general what do you think is a good way to improve speaking ability? I’m worried about speaking to myself because there’s no one to correct me. But I’m also running into the same issue where my recognizable/passive vocabulary is way way larger than my active vocabulary
So, firstly thanks for your videos, I just discovered you and yea, you kinda inspired me. And hearing your Chinese made me remember why I wanted to study it. So yea, thanks :)
Another thing, I was watching another of your vids and you talked about maybe studying Persian, since I'm a native Persian speaker I might be of help to you. And thirdly, a question, how do you study classical Chinese?
I'm not sure if you have done a video on that or not, but I'm interested in how you go about studying it
I'm not yet that good at picking up new languages and when I want to just pick a new language I start by duolingo
But that's not an option for classical, ancient or extinct languages. It's not even an option for modern languages which are not in spotlight, like icelandic for example which I became interested in sometime ago for the scandinavic myths that are still understandable in icelandic.
Okay so how do you go about starting to learn something that's not that widespread (currently I'm asking because I've become interested in middle Persian but I don't know how to approach it)
So yeah :)
Glad I found you, I hope to read your book in Chinese someday, if you are writing it in Mandarin of course.
Thanks a lot for your support! I actually haven’t studied Person yet, and I really want to. But I’m afraid it will take years for me before I can appreciate the beauty of Persian as it is a language with such a long history and rich traditions.
Camera girl
What language(s) will the novel be in?
