    France is really great country. Last month I visited Norway. I was there for 1 week in Bergen and Oslo. I have seen 1, only ONE euc during that time (Sherman Volt delivery guy) in Olso. That was really strange to me, everyone is riding E-scooters but nobody is riding EUC/Onewheel/Eskate. I was really surprised because all is electric in Norway, but nobody dares to ride one wheel vehicle :D.

      No(r)way haha! Did you take and ride your EUC? That is kind of strange but in Straßburg I also expected to see way more people. Because I remember seeing them in Vancouver/Canada every 5 to 10 minutes around the downtown area.

    I'm a french rider for 5 years on a 18xl and i would like to say 2 things.
    - In France you must have 12 ears old to ride in the city.
    - It makes me angry to see that the laws are so different in each country of the EU. You can Ride in France but not in Germany, in Italy you can ride only in some parts of the country... It's ridiculous!
    The laws should be the same all around the EU

    • @floatypiet
      @floatypiet  Рік тому

      That's true! I forgot about the age! Thank you!
      And yeah it's absolutely ridiculous! When it comes to development, I feel like Germany really sucks because there are too many laws. You can't really change anything because there are always 10 laws for something already :(
      Enjoy riding in France though!

      The age thing I don't get. Kids are way more coordinated than adults. I think at the last Olympics the skateboard medals were won by two 13 year olds and a 12 year old. I have seen videos of 4 year olds on EUCs. In Western Australia it is 16 minimum, not sure if it is policed. My experience in Australia is police often let unlawfulful acts go unless you piss them off or their masters. I think EUCs are banned in Victoria but there is a community there that posts video on YT. I think NSW has German style policing.

    • @mikehit
      @mikehit 10 місяців тому

      Your argument about age would make sense if we talked about it in a sportive or competitive environment. A 13-year-old kid will not have the same knowledge when it comes to traffic, or simply the awareness for it. (I mean, a lot of adults don't... so). If there would be a mandatory licence for it, let a 5-year-old on the street if it passes it, I don't care. But letting kids out in public with basically performance vehicles seems just a recipe for disaster and broken families.@@AJames-jr8kw

    • @Elliades
      @Elliades 11 місяців тому +2

      Not all the red-lights.. in theory you can cross the ones with a sign indicating the direction where it's allowed. It's a small red ans white triangle, with arrows, just bellow the light at bicycle height.
      In pratice, is ok as long as there is no car and no pedestrian crossing.

    • @EdLrandom
      @EdLrandom 11 місяців тому +1

      @@Elliades also from one of the wrong way videos I think PEVs are not actually allowed to run red lights like that

    • @darknjko
      @darknjko 10 місяців тому +1

      @@Elliades In reality, these signs are for bicycles only, and PEV should stop at red lights. But 🤫
      Since its introduction a couple of years ago, nobody understands the rule. Personally, since PEV have the same rights and duties as cyclists, I follow the same rules as the later category of riders. 😅

    • @jimmux_v0
      @jimmux_v0 7 місяців тому

      Not allowing PEVs to use the same rules as bikes is a terrible idea. I can imagine cyclists getting very annoyed every time they are stuck behind a waiting PEV, which only encourages riskier behaviour.
      Still, it's much more progressive than laws in my country. Very jealous.

  • @projectitis
    @projectitis Рік тому

    You seem to be quite nervous about police :) Are police in Germany very strict or something? Police in New Zealand tend to be very easy going - PEV are very grey area of the law here, but like you said, if you don't ride like an idiot you should be ok!

    • @floatypiet
      @floatypiet  Рік тому +4

      Yeah you can't ride in Germany just like that. You never have a complete free mind on the street because with one eye you always need to watch out for police. That's why I always say, if you buy an EUC in Germany, buy a fast one.
      It really wants to make me wanna leave Germany. There are no gray areas. It's allowed or it's forbidden...

      Not really grey in NZ. They are not legal but given that the police have trouble stopping groups of 120 mostly unhelmeted riders on unregistered dirt bikes riding though parks and doing wheelies down suburban roads in NZ they have other things on their minds. It is interesting the different cultures respect for rules. On a visit to Germany I got chucked out of a public pool because I didn't have a cap but apparantly sunbaking naked in the park is OK!
