Hi I would like to tell you about a law you may not have heard of ". The little signs that show a picture of a camera to warn of speed cameras, is always edged black. Which means the camera is void". As the law says it is to be red edged". I'm a registered lantra traffic operative " and that is the law. Also the vans can be called out as un lawful if they park where they want". It has to be a home office approved speed check site so no tickets are valid if the law is not followed. , I also know how you all can never get a ticket even if caught if you ask the right question ❓❓ to the office. Iv never seen a red edged cam sign. And have used it in two speeding court appearances , and the judge and police. And lawyers didn't know the law exists ". How many have paid fines and had points" without knowing this law. "

Braking cameras... so you're not allowed to speed now you're not allowed to slowdown, if you see a camera, you are supposed to just run through them at an illegal speed over the given limit, because now you are not allowed to brake if you see a speed camera, yet again solid proof as if proof was needed tbh, speed cameras, ULEZ and all that are "just" about draining the motorists pocket, because we are an easy soft target.

In my area they have been using countdown signs to let you know that the speed is changing from 40 to 30, this is to stop drivers from doing 40 right to the sign, they went to trial an idea like these cameras to catch people braking heavily in to 30 zones and the only drivers caught were the police

I’ve come across those on some roads in various English counties, but they also been used on parts of the M4 in Wales, for many years, as far back as 3/4 mile. They don’t use countdown markers, like approaching slip lanes, just blue signs with a standard speed limit sign accompanied by relevant text (in both languages). Those were actually non-compliant with normal standards for the Road Sign Assistance RSA) kit in some cars, so that they display the wrong value early. They only recognise the standard symbols, not text in any language that overrides it! Here’s an example on Google street view: www.google.com/maps/place/Newport/@51.5763329,-3.7546159,127a,35y,326.76h,45t/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x486e1e131ca04b95:0x495c163a920de244!8m2!3d51.584151!4d-2.997664!16zL20vMDF4cjZ4?entry=ttu Note that this lot is often well out of date, notwithstanding their quoted dates on the bottom of the display.

Almost ALL of the new legislation passed / new tech installed over the last 5+ years has NOT been about making the roads safer. So this is no different.
It has been about making car ownership as stressful, joyless, expensive and inefficient as possible, in the hope that people will simply give up their cars.

Similar happens on Revenue road in Lucan, Dublin. A motorway posing as a dual carriageway with a ridiculous 80 kph limit. Most drivers do about 90kph on it and some outliers get up to 100kph. All drivers brake harshly to 50kph when they see a speed van parked up on a corner near one of the junctions, conveniently parked behind some overgrown bushes to catch the unwary.
Other idiots on the other side behind a concrete barrier slow down to have a gawk confounding things further. This odious practice is known as rubbernecking and has caused many collisions on Irelands motorways and dual carriageways.
I do not know if the van catches many victims but the sea of redlights from people braking harshly in over reaction is a dead give away to aspiring speed merchants.

Governments see cars as a necessary evil to enable people in remote areas to work and as a tool for increasing economic activity and generating more taxes.
It will come to pass in time that rural areas will not allow people to build houses and become car dependent unless they have a genuine reason to live in a rural area such as being a farmer etc. This is current county council policy in many counties in Ireland where moves are in place to push people into towns and cities and allow for the introduction of public transport. Once this is done cars will be taxed so heavily and ICE cars will be banned from sale. Most ordinary people will be forced onto busses and have to endure all the inconvenience and delays that entails.
Already Irish government policy is to limit car-parking spaces in workplaces and offices and workers are TAXED as a benefit in kind if such spaces are provided by their workplace. This has caused endless problems for nurses on shift work outside the normal operating hours of public transport and for people in the bar and hospitality sector who also work odd hours.
A current policy in urban local government circles is the Orwellian sounding " active transport options", good old fashioned walking or cycling. Good for young fit people with no goods or tools to carry but useless for anyone else.
In short, yes governments hate cars and want rid of them ASAP.

I would hope that the cameras can tell the difference between a person speeding, then harshly braking to avoid being caught, and being already at the speed limit and doing the same thing for the purpose of an emergency (eg. a child runs in front of your car), I'm just nervous about having to appeal something like that, and taking it to court. The government doesn't have a great track record on using appropriate discretion for stuff like this (case in point: using a bus lane to let an emergency vehicle past).

When I am actually speeding I have never gotten a fine from the speed cameras because I slow down when I see them, also best place for speeding is where they have the speed cameras because then there will be no cops doing speed checks lol :)

It's not possible not to break strongly in such circumstances- and vehicles several in the line will also break even tho they haven't seen the deer themselves. i know it doesn't get foggy much nowdays, but would these cameras think fog lights are brake lights. 4 quid switch on the dash on and off at your leisure, as long as nobody in their audi on the phone is behind you playing bingo.

What if you have a heavy load in a van the weight transfer itself will make the vehicle dip naturally and in some cases enhance the “dip” of the vehicle. They should be called BROKE CAMERAS and we all know why, what a joke

If you ever go to Heathrow airport, you’ll notice the speed limit is 40 in the surrounding areas. Google Maps and Apple Maps says “50” for some reason.
But within a few feet, it rapidly changes to 30 and there’s a camera. They lie to people. I’ve never seen a city behave more criminally.

Brake harshly for a hazard like a pedestrian, animals, fallen trees, but carry on at said speed if it's a just stop oil protestor in the road.

So if somebody runs across the road in front of you, near these camera's, don't brake, just run the risk of running them over then.

they added a mass of red light cameras in downtown Chicago and they created an epidemic of rear end accidents from people braking hard to avoid the red light camera and getting rear ended.

Blade runners you know what to do, we need chapters everywhere. We need to fight back now, this just a war on the motorist so we need to take the war to them. Motorists you need to stand for your local councils and take them over and stop this nonsense.

I hope they done a risk assessment and informed their insurance company for liability insurance. There's two types of road users :trade and Public. Public owns the highway and pays for the upkeep. Trade have to pay to use the Public highways. They have just put all highway users under trade. Read the law.

Next time the car in front brakes suddenly, I'll just run into the back of it, and tell my insurance company I thought they were braking for an anti-braking camera ahead. 😊

The uk law states that speed cameras MUST be painted brightly so they are visible to avoid harsh breaking when spotted later if dull
So theyll use the basis of that I suppose.
I dont agree with it btw but i thought id point that out for ppl who dont know

When you drive 60 mph at 40 mph limit and you hit the break on the measuring line, the camera speed detection fails because you suddenly change the speed from 60 to 30 in a second as the speed detection calculation will be inconsistent. These new cameras have more precise detections because they measure more frequently. Nothing to do with breaking ...

At least someone with some sense. Also only drive where you can STOP IN THE DISTANCE SEEN TO BE CLEAR. All this is a load of fuss over nothing. If you don’t speed. Stick to speed limits. Don’t follow too closely and have a good level of driving skill you would not need to worry about these cameras. @midge225

As the video explained many times innocent non-speeding people just instinctually brake even when they aren't speeding because they think they've missed a speed limit change.

This would make no sense. In the UK, cameras are (said to be) in place for safety purposes i.e. to make people slow down in that area. An anti braking camera is the opposite of that, highlighting that even if you think you're speeding then DON'T slow down. On that basis I don't see them ever coming to the UK, when the government wants speed to be enforced over a long distance then they use average speed cameras.

Here's how you break the braking camera:
1 - have a dashcam record your driving
2 - drive towards the braking camera close (but below) the speed limit
3 - if safe to do so, brake harshly when approaching the speed camera
    4 - get a fine
5 - appeal and win because you actually didn't break any laws
    6 - now they're useless.

The most effective speed cameras are the one that are on the motorways that have 2 cameras and calculate your average speed from point A to B.

How long before your car is automatically restricted to the prevailing speed limit? Not long I suggest. However, thinking again, there wouldn't be any money in that, so maybe not.

    • @aries6776
      @aries6776 11 місяців тому

I agree. The technology is already here. A family member has a car that can observe speed limits and change lanes by itself. It's just the current UK legislation that restricts it to just motorways.
