    I'm licensed and it's really not hard to do hair. "Professionals" will always bash people on diys because if everyone knew that you can actually do hair yourself with just good research and time with good products, we wouldn't have jobs lmao. You did great however, your ends shouldn't be worried about as much as your roots since they were already very pale and could just be toned. Overall very impressed 👍

      Im not a professional but i agree somewhat. If you research properly you can learn how to do your own hair and you own hair type according to your own hair history. But doing other peoples hair is tricky and thats the skill that stylists have.

      👍Brook Sweat! Thanks for the honesty. I have always wondered a few things such as the "condescending " comments like "if you did it right & went to someone who could do it right, you wouldnt be a brassy/yellowish" when it came to bleaching of course. But in reality we all come to a yellowish and ain't nothin can be done about it other than fix it. But those comments are always bashing the person for the inevitable. Regardless of technique, expertise, it's always gonna be there.in one wa or the other, teehehehee🤭. So I appreciate you saying that.. sincerely! ❤ Thank youuuu!.

    Also, next time you should start bleaching from the back of your head and work towards the front. The back of your head has thicker hair which takes longer to lift, while the front of the head has hair that is more thin which lightens very quickly.

    Of all the videos in all the years I have studied hair colour urs has truly won me over in terms of how amazing ur results turned out .. u did this by urself I c we not believe how even the result was esp bleaching it twice even after it had been professionally bleached by ur stylist to platinum to the ends.
    A few words of advice if u choose to do it again though.
    Next time if u do ur roots though only do a bleach wash through the ends by adding shampoo to ur bleach solution u already have made up (with blondeme and 20vol peroxide)and adding equal parts of clarifying shampoo and only painting onto ends of hair for last 10 minutes of processing time whilst still bleaching roots to remove previous buildup of toner. This will allow you to apply new batch of toner to freshly washed hair.
    When u shampoo out your bleach after applying step 2 dont condition just apply toner so the cuticle is left open and toner absorbs better then wash toner out then use a protein based treatment.
    Root smudge-when u have applied ur tomoro to ur ends (t11) then apply ur roots toner straight away and whilst hair is wet..its actually easier to process together and use the brush to paint vertically so u dont leave a demarcation line but never use a permanent colour only a semi or even a demi-u want to see a glaze with a root shadow opposed to a heavy colour. Plus a permamanet will stain the hair more leaving a demarcation line making a stain every time u bleach but a semi/demi can simply be bleached out when u do ur roots !!
    But overall ur video is amazing !! And ur choice of bleach and method is amazing !!

      Amanda Lopez just go slow, and be careful. You can seriously do a ton of damage to your hair if you just start watching videos, and have never done your own hair before. I’m only telling you this, because color corrections are timely, and even more costly than just getting hi-lights. I wish you much success, just please use good products!! Good luck!!🍀

      Ditto, one girl I quit after 3 years because it was always WEIRD colors and not blonde. The straw that broke the camels back were 2 things, I called her to say it looked bad and she said "It takes around 3 weeks to 'settle in' Ummmmmmm Seriously. So 1/2 the 6 weeks between appt's then the last weeks where roots are so ugly. So she's saying it'll look good maye 2 of the 6 weeks?" THen same day I complained my son was in 2nd grade, brought a friend home- they looked at me and said, "Why does you hair look green" And off I went to find another bad stylist......

      Agree! I spent $180 twice just on highlights that ended up orangey. I even tipped the girl $50 each time hoping she'd do better and get me blonde. Never had a problem getting the blonde I wanted before, but I'm in NJ now. I hadnt had highlights in years. My natural color is medium brown, had not been dyed in almost 3 years when I went to the salon. I gave up and have been doing my own blonde and got myself to a very pretty blonde. Now i just research techniques to maintain health and do roots now & again. Toning ALWAYS. Funny, salon sent me complimentary cut & style coupon because I haven't been back. I *may* go, but not to the same girl. Wish I could find a colorist who specializes in blondes, but after recent experiences, I think I'll stick to doing my own. Hardest part is the back-especially with my hair being so long. Thats what husbands are for 😉!

    For someone not knowing what they were doing this came out great! The all over blonde after the toner looked amazing on u and it was even all over which is pretty hard to do on ur self. Coming from a professional standpoint this could have had a really bad outcome. Next time use a demi permanent on ur roots that is close to ur natural color that way the fade out is seamless and u don't have issues next time u lighten ur roots. Also another tip for ur ends if they come out brassy like they did, try a "bleach wash" or a "bleach bath" which is equal parts lightener, developer and clarifying shampoo. Put it on damp hair leave on for a few minutes. The shampoo and damp hair helps to not over process ur hair instead of straight lightener. Ps u are GORGEOUS!!!

  • @Vewings
    @Vewings 6 років тому +69

    FYI, when u do the roots next time it would be best to mix maybe half the level 8N with half of the more ashy shade you wanted. Reason being that when you have such a light blonde underneath and u put just an ashy shade on top, it can turn the hair green. Btw I’m a hairstylist so just looking out for u lol. But ya so in the salon the correct way to go darker would be to first use a Demi or semi-permanent color that is an in between shade and then put the final color over that. This is because there are underlying pigments that every color of hair have, and if you don’t fill in those missing pigments, then the color may not turn out as they look on the swatches. For example, the underlying pigment of a level 8 hair is yellow. Since u toned first u took out that yellow, but since u used 8N then it helped not turn green because N basically has warm and cool tones in it. If u would have used an ashy color alone then it could have turned a greenish color since they tend to have green or blue in them. So ya maybe try half and half next time just to be safe! U can even do a test piece underneath a little bit and see what it looks like first. Hope this helps! 😊

    One more tip Corrine... if, or when you bleach again, protect what you’ve already bleached with a coconut oil, or Olaplex; something to create a barrier so you don’t get new bleach on the already bleached hair. Overlapping creates dry, broken, fried ends, mid-shaft, wherever you’ve already bleached, so just be very careful not to overlap, and remember bleach swells!!!👍👍

    Next time use 6% developer on top T section of hair and 3% on the rest, starting with the rest. That way your hair will bleach in equal time without the patchiness. And try mixing with some sort of -plex system. Dont forget to buy shampoo to wash off bleach and a counteracting thingy to stop bleach from developing further as you wash it off. The rest of the hair will need 1.6% x toner on wet hair to counteract the yellowness. Happy blonding x

If your hair is highlighted and you lighten it over those you’ll probably get two different shades of blonde but it might not look as terrible as it sounds. A piece of advice from a non professional that learned the hard way: if your roots are so long put the bleach on the lower part first and after you finish that put it on the root or just put it on the root on the second round if you need to bleach twice. I went to a busy salon once and I had 3 month roots, black hair and they didn’t follow this techniques so I had an orange strip along the previously bleached hair. So while they were trying to bleach that part by reapplying bleach and being super busy they fried a big part of the top of my hair leading to short broken hair. In the following months the short hair became more and more till I had a full part of short hair along the top of my head that kept flying on windy days😡 so if you are doing this by yourself make sure you follow this sequence :)

    I experimented on my hair for years to learn what I could have learned a lot faster if I had access to information and professional products. The hardest part is figuring out a mirror setup and getting olaplex. The truth is single process blonde isn’t rocket science. Another option is maintaining a base color and going in for highlights every two months. Saves a fortune and a lot of time. However, if you DO want true platinum from a colorist; find a colorist with platinum hair.

      I've read so many comments on using t14 instead of t18 so I tried it and 😟 my hair turned dark..greenish/muddy I cried. I then looked into doing a light bleach bath so I did as I felt things couldn't be worse and..was left with the most Gorgeous blonde I imagined. I obviously won't purposely repeat that process again (pray for me) but I swear it should be a "technique " of its own

    Watching people do their hair at home, stresses me out so bad. I struggle at home and I'm licensed! Lol. You got luck on your side this time girl, to avoid 3 processes of lighter, it's best to commit and saturate saturate SATURATE. let the product do its work, dont rinse unless your hair is telling you otherwise(extreme heat, no elasticity left etc). It looks great though. ♡

  • @jordanxfile
    @jordanxfile 5 років тому +1

    By the way, I agree with the shadow root thing. It makes the hair look grounded and obviously a little more natural. I used to go for an all over blonde back in the day, but now I feel "naked" when I don't have some depth in my scalp area. I am a dark blonde naturally, I use high lift Wella Koleston Special Blondes with 30 volume, but I mix in a variety of tones, and some pure tones as well. It has worked for me so far. Your result is amazing :)

    The reason I love this video is because it is soooo recognisable. From the anxiety to the doubts, to the exhaustion and then the outcome which is more than fine. We learned so much in the process and somehow every time it feels like we have to start all over again with the same fears😅 though I do really think this step 2 thing is not really helpful. Best is a real bond fixer (step 1) in the bleach and a step 2 in the toner. Then keep treating your hair to repair crèmes in between touch ups/redo's. For myself after using the BlondMe for years and trying olaplex (which I didn't think made much difference) I'm going to give the fanola products a try. The bond fixers, the bleach and the cream color from their brand.

      @@evaeagle7887 exactly!!! Most stylists comment rude things or talk shit when they see videos of people doing their hair themselves at home because they think they are the only ones who can do hair the "right way" or "professionally" just because they went to cosmetology school lol but really hair is NOT hard to do at all!!! They act like no one else besides them can do it without messing up, yea most people make mistakes at first but they learn from them and practice makes perfect im sure when they first started cosmetology school they made mistakes at first too amd ended up learning from them and got better over time...anyone can do that!...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to cut/color/style hair! They just get mad because they went to school for it and got their license for doing hair and they feel like people should come to them and not do it themselves because then they lose money so they hate videos of people doing it themselves and think they have to comment with their "im a professional, you shouldn't be doing this on your own you need to have it professionally done" comments...lmao it blows my mind how some of them act sometimes! I found that the Wella bleach at Sally Beauty works extremely well; I love that it’s not blue so you can really see the color lifting. I use the Ion version of Olaplex in it and I was able to touch up my lived in blonde that was done professionally 4-5 months ago. Of course it took $50 worth of products and 2-3 days to do it, but I couldn’t afford to go back and I moved too.

    Tips -
    Try not to overlap bleach
    T 11 and any wella toners have so much ammonia in them and hair feels dry.
    If you do a shadow root wet and drag it down it will blend flawlessly.

    • @rosey7261996
      @rosey7261996 6 років тому +2

      usually when applying toners it tells you do it with damp hair. For it to blend flawlessly I've seen a lot of professors comb the hair downward after the application, so you don't end up with harsh lines.
