Canvas Flipping - never knew that. I have flipped selections before but never knew about Canvas flipping and frankly I would never have thought of using it for reflections even if I knew of it's existence.
Another awesome video. I always look forward to your videos with my morning coffee. I have learned so much about PS watching them. Thanks Blake for sharing them.
Awesome, Blake! You really came through for us. I am realizing how PS can do EVERYTHING and better, too. I learned about the motion blur and perspective warp that I didn't know about before. Thanks for the tutorial and thanks for the actions.
Great job! I've played a lot with the new sky replacement with reflection in Luminar AI and this has it beat! Plus, you have so much more control. This may end up being one of my favorite actions.
Another great video Blake thanks for the action saves me remembering all that you are a brilliant teacher how you explain things now its my job trying to remember it all hi..
Very cool Blake, you make hard things easy! Thank you for the demo, action and skies. (Side humor: the random UA-cam ad preceding your video was for Luminar AI's Sky Replacement. :-D )
Thanks, cool stuff...I've been needing this for a few shots I took in Colorado a few years ago, beautiful mountain views with a reflective lake but no interesting sky! Thank you
Hi Blake. This is an astonishgly good tutorial and thank you very much for the free action which I know I will use, but I only ever use my own skies. I bought Luminar when it first came out and upgraded (re-purchased it) up to Luminar 4. I used it for the occasional sky replacement and nothing else. I never purchased the AI version because Photoshop added sky replacement and the Luminar AI version was poorly reviewed. But the latest version seems to have better reviews and I was thinking of purchasing it - just for sky replacements. Now I won't have to, so many thanks.
Great tutorial Blake. Always learn a lot from you. I tried downloading the Action and replacement file but PS wont recognise it. Can you advise please.
Thanks for the instructions and the action. A very straightforward explanation as usual. I have several sets of sky files that I'd like to upload as different groups. It seems that creating and importing *.sky files is the way to do this. I've searched Adobe help and through Google searches with no success. Can you describe or provide a link for how to create a *.sky file? Thanks.
Super-cool stuff...I am a subscriber, getting back up to speed with my photography and editing, after a short(ish) break, and love this tutorial..Great advice as usual, love the whole learning process, which = it's huge (Ps) and so much to learn, but really enjoy it. It's always cool to know why you are doing something and exactly what you are doing = solid foundations..etc, etc. Thanks for the Action, which can also serve as a great practice tool, to see if you can replicate the effect/s by yourself in Ps. Given me a nice boost mentally as well, great stuff!...Thanks Blake!....Oh, by the way, the perspective correction and fine-tuning were new to me and now looking forward to a few practice edits.
Great tutorial, it was a lot to take in, (for me), but I needn't have worried as the PS Action worked a treat !!! 🙂👍 I had updated the Luminar AI software only the day before, and that had the *Replacement Sky & Reflections* too, but I must say that out of 6 images tried, all 6 failed miserably. ☹ I tried the same images using my own 'skies' along with your PS CC Action Blake, and 5 out of 6 had excellent results ! Many, many thanks for another brilliant video tutorial and the Action. Stay Safe ... 😷👍 🍺🐁🍺
Thank you so much! I have a problem however... The photo I tried to edit has a gray sky and the water is gray, and Photoshop doesn't detect the water as a sky. What can I do? Thanks! ❤
Thanks! Unfortunately, you'd have to do the reflection manually if that's the case. Of there's too much detail in the water, PS won't be able to detect it as a sky.
@@f64Academy Thanks for the help, is there any way I can send you the photo and see if you think that the detail is the problem? Theres not much aside from a boat
I've tried all afternoon to run the action after watching the video several times. Has something changed or is there a step missing in the action because it stops after rotating the canvas and trying to add the same sky. The note pops up and tells me there is no sky to be replaced. I would love to be able to do this in an action. Thanks.
Thanks for the Action and skies. I noticed that in order to reposition the reflected sky I have to first turn off the upper sky group 'eye ball' first. Any idea why? Also if the sky I am replacing already had a lot of puffy white clouds before the replacement, the replacement sky allows some of the clouds to show through. Is this because your action used a 62 opacity value?
Blake excellent video with the technique you explain in the video. However I am encountering a problem. After initially selecting a sky and going to image and flipping canvass vertically, I then go to edit to select sky replacement to select same sky, PS is telling me sky not detected. Now this has happened a few times. Not sure what to do
Terrific stuff - thank you and for your ATN as well. You reminded me that I used to think I I knew Photoshop's capabilities very well - and then I discovered Blend-if! By the way, I've been following you since at least 2016 and I notice that unlike me, you haven't aged one iota in the last five years. There should be a law against this!😀
Thanks for the download and tut. Were you really a 1stSgt? I was an E5 Sgt in the USMC 1964-68. Where does PS store its skies for the replacement? Thanks again.
@@f64Academy Thanks, I have hundreds of skies that I have captured over the years and would like to import them in one fell swoop. Thank you for your service.
Hi Blake, This sounded so cool. And, your video is great. But I can't get the action to create a reflection (Win 10, Ps 2021 rel. 22.3)... Sadly... uh oh, maybe I need AI. Darn it.

One thing about artificial is, that replacing a sky in the first place is an artificial action using an artificial sky from the sky that's already present in your shot. Photographer's no longer have to take any sky they see as valid, changing the world makes us all gods, or does it?
