  • Are the people who get banned from cruise lines reckless and dangerous? Or did they just make silly mistakes? In this video we will look at real stories from people who were banned from cruises, for life. Some put themselves and others in danger but some were just accomplices to the acts.
Did they deserve the ban? Let me know in the comments!

Definitely agree with the ban for all that guy's friends. I've watched the footage, they're all encouraging him and none try to stop him. Nobody in that party ever had safety in mind so you can't take the risk with any of them.

This is why I think the ban was fair, from what you said about the footage they were as involved. But if he just did it outta the blue to suprrise his friends...it would have been massively unfair.

The guy who jumped probably had no idea how close he came to not surviving to be punished. The maximum survivable fall into water for a sober person is around 160 ft. (according to a Mythbusters experiment). He was probably drunk and that saved his life (apparently drunk people crumple more on impact drastically increasing their chances of surviving). At 120 ft. an object would hit the water at 96 km/h.

The cruise line is totally justified in banning those who so blatantly violate their safety protocols. It's not about stopping individuals from having fun, it's keeping the idiots from killing themselves and putting so many others (cruisers and staff alike) in jeopardy. I do know a cruise ship's captain who has been in service for quite a few years. This would be a well known British cruise line! He told me that he had to order an entire family to leave his ship after they showed very little regard to other cruise passengers and the complaints came flooding in. He did say that this sort of behaviour is now unfortunately on the increase. After cruising for many years without ever seeing any such incidents I think that this is a terrible shame and spoils the whole ambiance of a ship and the passengers enjoying their voyage. Some people can be selfish, stupid and thoughtless to others.

We were on the Caribbean Princess going through the Pana Canal, when a man sat on the railing above the pilot house to look over the heads on everyone that was on the observation deck.. we were in the cabin right behind him, and I had to call security. 3 times. I really didn't want to see a person die that day, and it seemed no one took me seriously. Finally our cabin steward went out and told gim to get down. I felt sorry for our steward. I have this acquaintance. Bragged about the crazy things she does when she gets plastered..... from running naked around the hotel building at 4am with her friends, to dancing on the table in bars.
Well, she started going on cruises, for the last year bragging she can go on them whenever she wants. Well, that didn't last too long. According to her former friend (who was with her, and now embarrassed by her) , she got so drunk at a dinner, she got up fell into the waiter knocking over the tray he was holding and it knocked someone in the head :elderly. She also vomited all over the floor. They had to lift this 230 pound woman back to her room. The elderly man sued........ not the cruise line, but HER. Had to forfeit all her "free" cruises.
    She isn't bragging anymore.

How times have changed! People jump from balconies for fun! I worked briefly for P &O on the Canberra in the 1980s (no balconies then), but one of my duties at night was 'suicide watch'.You'd be surprised how often we'd catch someone standing on a rail ready to jump! And not because the food was bad!

My wife and I love watching your informative videos. I like to hear your topic of British-ism of the week . It reminds me of my mother who came to Canada as a war bride in1948. She brought my two older brothers who were both born in Britain. When she took them to register for school she was told by the Principal not to worry as the Canadian school system would get rid of their British accents. Needless to say my mother was furious!

About the men that jumped from 120ft from the simphony from the 11th floor:
Yes the bann for life was justefied not only for him and i agree it's a miracle that he is a live.
I'm preety sure that not all his friends agreed to that sick (not in the good slang way) joke but not fully stopping him from doing that count as supporting this so the ban is justified even if they fully understood this was very very stuiped and VERY DANGEROUS

I agree. They were filming him jumping to the 11th floor so their consent to this "attempted suicide" is implied. To my way of thinking the jumper may have thought he was being "funny", but to anyone seeing him, it is a suicide attempt.

The thing about the guy who jumped so his friends could film....you mentioned the high dives in the Olympics. There is a small stream of water sort of shooting into the pool to break the surface of the water. Hitting water from that high up must be like hitting cement, in my imagination.

We were a bit boisterous and the man was in his 70's and had been in the school system 30 years so I'm sure we were more challenging than our parents' generation when he was first started. I'm not sure what happened for him to make this statement but knew he was annoyed and tried to have a black student expelled after he refused to wear the school mascot mask because the student considered it racist. Our mascot was the Colonel...(Kentucky) Colonel Sanders. He was our mascot for 2 years...without the mask.
My class felt they got their revenge by printing his quote on every reunion t-shirt.🤣
