It was actually shown in a short story from GW that Seraphon are actually being born in these ships much like they used to in the spawn pools of Lustria with a twist, these new Lizardmen are still made of Azyr magic but are independent of a Slann’s memories of them as they are completely new, this is not the case for all Seraphon however
The story of the Slann is so heartbreaking. They're all alone, abandoned by their creators long ago, their brethren having perished at the hands of Chaos. Using their magic, they bring back those they lost. But even then, they know that these are just memories; their brothers are gone forever. Even then, they work tirelessly to stop the enemy, and restore Old One's vision, so that maybe their brothers can rest in peace. Slann have lost everything, but they fight on anyway. Now THAT is the meaning of awesome.
With recent lore, it looks like some of the "memories" of the seraphon troops eventually become real as they spend enough time existing. Allowing the building of spawning pools, etc. to now make more actual seraphon.
Personally how I thought it always worked was that the Slann have the souls of the Lizardmen in their ships and to give them back their bodies they remember what they were like and make them a body out of that. Then after a battle is over the bodies dissipate and the souls are drawn back up to the ships.
I like this version more...it makes more sense and feels more satifying then to think all my lizard boiz are all just mirror images which is super lame
I know I'm way late to comment here but just want to say thanks for making awesome videos about the Seraphon. It's nice to hear someone talk about it instead of having to reread my book for the millionth time. Also, my Seraphon army is a Seraphon army made flesh like the Lizardmen (personal lore)
Can you do a video explaining the realms? Are they dimensions, planets, or something else? And from a snippet I read from Clan Pestilans that they borrow through reality and that is how they get from realm to realm.
Specifically they're different planes of existence that for all intents and purposes are infinite in size. Most have effective limits on how far someone can travel as the magic associated with each realm becomes more unstable the further from the centre you travel.
Other Lizardmen probably exist, but as the Slann have developed to being able to use thought armies why risk other lizardman lives. If the Slann are themselves projections the whole Seraphon faction can become lossless on the battlefield, and thus have the main advantage of a daemon army, victories against them are ultimately futile with regards to attrition.
The slann just appear from the stars. they don't use spaceships to attack. Read "legends of the age of sigmar: skaven pestilens" it has Seraphon in it.
Great video haven't really looked at the new lore for the Lizardmen/Seraphon but this video really made me interested the idea of lone survivors resurrecting their race from memory is really cool i might have to get these as my first order force for Aos they seem a great army for building a narrative keep up the good work ;)
Theory: When Slanns will go to edge of extinction they will need new way to save memories. Natural for them would be transfer their minds and redistribute their memories to survive. Its sounds like lets say Hive mind... THEY WILL BECOME TYRANIDS!!!!
Well, they may also, in the process of going extinct, have the remaining Slann become stronger and more powerful, till they are at the level of or even greater than the old ones that originally created them, allowing them to create their own, new slanns. Extinction isn't much of an option either way, because even when they die, they may just shrug and continue their mission. Kroak definitely won't give even an infinticimal fuck :D
Could you link/send me these lists?? I'm struggling to make a list that's competitive! I think the Slann needs his own lore of magic like Tzeentch and the Seraphon need allegiance abilities.
Given how vague the description was of the Seraphon and that they’re only memories of past events except for the Slann, I’m kinda glad I didn’t get the 1st edition of Seraphon book lol
Excellent summary thanks. I think that mystery as a concept is always dangerous with interactive fiction, especially one with a commercial angle. I would find it hard to play Seraphon because they just have no affinity with me. How can I play the Slann in these wars if I know nothing about them? It is interesting because I was talking to some friends about the Total Warhammer II game, and how it was a great indulgence for me to play High Elves, the army I collected as a kid. Now these guys know their Warhammer stuff (one even runs a WFRP group), but after I finished rambling on about a number of High Elf things they both just replied, sorry we have no idea what you are talking about. Of course I was referencing things in army books that they had never had. When I started talking about Finubar, and the Citadel of Dusk being reclaimed, and the Cult of Pleasure they had no idea what these things were. These things were a mystery to them, but not a mystery to me because I was a High Elf player and they were not. And that's the problem with the Seraphon. How can anyone start to love a faction they have no knowledge of? Mystery is great for those that don't play the faction, but it is a big turn off for those that do.
I just discovered your channel and its very nice and helpful especially for new players like me. My local community decided to start path to glory and i think i will join, the thing is that it is very competitive and i want to pick something powerful so i can compete them. I searched and i like the miniatures of Seraphon and Deamons of Tzeentch. Would you mind tell me your opinion about which army is really strong right now? Thanks in advance and keep up the good work
I think the mystery aspect to them was really well chosen given their new name. Seraphim are a type of angel in the Bible meaning burning ones. Like their involvement in biblical history, they aren't there to establish a place for themselves in the world. Their place is to observe and intervene where necessary. Pretty much the same role they play in AoS. The spaceship question has a simple answer. They're creatures of Heaven, not Earth. It's just following along with the new name and their role in being anti daemon.
Considering the original Slann were mostly created to set up a bad joke about Frenchmen loving frogs' legs combined with a sculptor's itch to do fantasy Aztecs, it's nice to see this army surviving to 2017. They're certainly doing better than the fimir...or the poor Tomb Kings.
From what i read so far slaans are us, as in they are the players of warhammer. The table is the battlefield and from the perspective of the characters of the realm the just seem to fall from the skies fight the battle the return back to the sky. There are other parallels i could draw up but it seems like an air tight theory.
Yeah me too...or they use the souls of the lizardmen to form an army...also there were alot of skinks and saurus that made it onto those ships before the old world got fuxked
Honestly, the concept of the seraphon is really smart and cool (but F in their execution) since the basic concept is that the lizardmen after their purpose was destroyed with the end times, they basically try to become the new old ones.
I like to think that if a memory-lizard kills enough Chaos Demons, the energy restores them to real beings. Thus, in order to preserve their race and create more Seraphon, the Slann need to slay as many demons as possible.
any chance you'll cover anything about hammerhal the city? so far i hear it the first 'real' look at an actual day to day life in the realms and interactions between races.
Hold on a minute, seraphon have to do with slann starmasters????,in the game I play called realmwar,it’s a moba, slann create black holes and suck others into it
Where's your games-workshop condition!? haha, your vid settled my debate on buying a Seraphon army. These guys are so cool. Aztek lizards riding BA dinosaurs that can summon! Well done vid, mate!
Hey 2+tough. Great video's, I just found your channel and I am realy enjoying it. But your intro and outro's are so freaking loud man. Its a cool tune though.
I'm glad they've updated the lore of the Seraphon recently, because this idea really sucks. It means that the only characters who matter in the entire faction are the Slann and everything else is irrelevant. You can have legions of Seraphon die and it's meaningless because the Slann will just summon them back later anyway. This is why Stormcast Eternals were boring before there was a cost to their deaths, it's why Daemons can often be boring because dying means they end up back in the Realm of Chaos. GW needs to do a better job at getting us invested in the characters of certain factions. Nobody cares about infinitely respawning, zero personality characters. Tyranids from 40K can get away with it because their lack of character *is* their character, they're supposed to be utterly alien and foreign. But Seraphon should be a species of space faring lizard people led by Slann who use their ability to read celestial patterns to get a limited idea of the future, similar to how the Eldar are led by Farseers.
hi. I am thinking about getting into AOS. 40K is kind of going down the drain lore wise. so I feel that in some respects AOS now has a lot more scope. could you possibly do a video on Deathrattle and the Death realm? I want to know how the "Tomb Kings" could fit or even if they are allowed now in AOS. thanks :)
If you want to play tomb kings, you better have alot of money. They arent printing the army anymore as its lore wise, destroyed. If you do get a small army going. You can look up the army list by simply typing it in and downloading the PDF. They have updated old armies simply so people can play with anything but. Other than that tomb kings are not supported anymore.
I am so fucking confused. I've been trying to get into AoS lore and all the time people talking about how the old world ended... They talking about fantasy? How did the world end was it the thing where the skaven blew up the moon. Did the world litterly end or did chaos just win? What's the new world? Is it an alternate time line? Another planet? Is it the same planet but year and years later? What's going on, where do I get these answers on UA-cam where they can be fed to me easily?
Another question... does the place age of sigmar happen... what is it? Is it a bunch of different dimensions? Is it all one planet? Is it a collection of planets that share a solar system?
The great Horned rat did in the same way Sigmar and Allarielle did. They didn't escape the singularity like the Seraphon did though. They escaped it through sheer will.
my perfect fantasy setting excludes time travel, alternate dimensions, and unseen but totally imaginable spaceships... all 3 of the above only stand to act as massive permanent plot holes to leave the entire progression of story constantly 100% open ended... ultimately its for lazy writing with no direction, (see: current day warcraft)
love the vids but do something about the sound watching at night trying yo listen super quiet then end of vid BAM stupidly loud music and the same with intro music please dont do that any more

Yup, saw that! This video is like 2 years older then that short story ;) thank you for watching!
2+Tough No thankyou for providing lore, especially on the fyreslayers +
May i ask, where can i find this short?
The story of the Slann is so heartbreaking. They're all alone, abandoned by their creators long ago, their brethren having perished at the hands of Chaos. Using their magic, they bring back those they lost. But even then, they know that these are just memories; their brothers are gone forever. Even then, they work tirelessly to stop the enemy, and restore Old One's vision, so that maybe their brothers can rest in peace. Slann have lost everything, but they fight on anyway. Now THAT is the meaning of awesome.
Well saying that, there is a malign portents story that mentions spawning pools. Which means that they are living
With recent lore, it looks like some of the "memories" of the seraphon troops eventually become real as they spend enough time existing. Allowing the building of spawning pools, etc. to now make more actual seraphon.
Dr.V yeah I hope, don’t want my lizard boys to be merely memories, would like them to come back to their former glory
Personally how I thought it always worked was that the Slann have the souls of the Lizardmen in their ships and to give them back their bodies they remember what they were like and make them a body out of that. Then after a battle is over the bodies dissipate and the souls are drawn back up to the ships.

Started getting into AoS after Christmas. Loving these vids. Good job putting everything together in a way that's easy to digest.
I know I'm way late to comment here but just want to say thanks for making awesome videos about the Seraphon.

I think I still prefer them as Lizardmen, but this won't stop me collecting Seraphon.

Love these lore videos!
My vote for the next lore video is SKAVEN! Any stripe or clan, just wanna see more rat love across the youtubes.
Thank you for putting this out! I really appreciate your cool gathering of lore. It helped me update and figure out where to learn more. rock on!
Do the Kharadron Overlords next!!
Seraphon Battletome badly needs updating!!
Could you link/send me these lists?? I'm struggling to make a list that's competitive! I think the Slann needs his own lore of magic like Tzeentch and the Seraphon need allegiance abilities.
I can't find what episode it is :/
RegensDominor wish granted!
great to see more content from you sir. it's been a while.
Given how vague the description was of the Seraphon and that they’re only memories of past events except for the Slann, I’m kinda glad I didn’t get the 1st edition of Seraphon book lol
Space ships now on top of the dimensional stuff? It's Spelljammer all over again.
Great Vid again! But could you turn your mic up a bit? I'm blasting it on full volume on my macbook and have a hard time understanding a word :-)

Seraphon look really cool. Someday I may venture into AOS.
I just widened my warhammer knowledge, again

it probably works like stargate. the realmgates bring you to different worlds and the seraphon are all like, ha we can fly

TwoPlusTough i could go further, they have the ability to shape the world even more so create life around them sculpt the fields people fight on
We create the table tops, battles are fought on, gw creates the universe and the different races.
@@dbrown992 Interesting theory, I often thought that too
*SPAAAAAACE!!!!!*
I got the impression that the lizardmen are alive and get summoned in from their ships, if they are not real then a slann could have a limitless army.
Yeah me too...or they use the souls of the lizardmen to form an army...also there were alot of skinks and saurus that made it onto those ships before the old world got fuxked

another grate video mate!
I want me a Seraphon Shadespire band now
Agreed, they will likely have some super cool rules
I can see a Slann leader doing the Spiteclaw/Skellies mechanic but I hope it’s something a little different cause that’s been done
yay ! you're back!
any chance you'll cover anything about hammerhal the city? so far i hear it the first 'real' look at an actual day to day life in the realms and interactions between races.

can you do a video with sylvaneth? im just starting and really love my new army.

Thanks for the video, seraphon is my favorite army!
Hey 2+tough. Great video's, I just found your channel and I am realy enjoying it. But your intro and outro's are so freaking loud man. Its a cool tune though.
You are not wrong in assuming slanns are the boss in seraphon lists. Cast 3 deny 3 meteor spammer cp farmer. They're grrrrrrrreat

@@2Tough I'm going through all of your stuff now while working on my next table lol. I never played AoS and will start up later this year
Neutral good
Hi! I was just wondering if you could make a lore video of the blood bowl?
TwoPlusTough ok thanks, would be cool to know the story behind it
coudlve picked some higher res images man
2nd most primitive culture in Warhammer survives by flying away in spaceships. Lol

Ok, I dare anybody to tell me the Seraphon aren't the coolest race in the WH universe after watching this.
Agreed!
Godzilla theme Lizardmen!
I don't know these guys been screwed by the skate evens those little rat bastards killed my favorite lizard man army
I thought the Skaven also survived.
The great Horned rat did in the same way Sigmar and Allarielle did. They didn't escape the singularity like the Seraphon did though. They escaped it through sheer will.

your outro music is way to loud. still a thumbs up...this time. hobe not to be earblasted again
I forgot the first video 😐
Decent
They should replace those lizard men models. make them more "ethereal"
I think a dedicated ethereal paint scheme would look super good on the models they have!
On it.
love the vids but do something about the sound watching at night trying yo listen super quiet then end of vid BAM stupidly loud music and the same with intro music please dont do that any more
high elves!!!
that sounds awful. just awful, all the interesting element so the lizardmen are gone including their name, that just sounds awful.
Summoning Saurus warriors? looks really cheep and poor story telling ...
Hate to say it, but your comment looks really cheap and has poor spelling.
