    This also shows how signals work in Trainz TRS2019.
    I hope this helps new Colins Trains subscribers as well as those wanting a better understanding of route development in Trainz TRS2019 train simulator.
    Also included is a sneak preview of the next episode on the Pennsylvania and Ohio Railroad route development including a new module the North Fork Branch in TRS2019 as well as a full demonstration on the Pennsylvania & Ohio Railroad . . . .
    This is another in a full series of TRS2019 tutorials covering all aspects of Route development adding signals with more to come including session building, scenery development, track tools, surveyor skills, signaling systems, product reviews, content manager and more . . . . learn all about N3v Trainz TRS2019 here.

    Thanks Colin
    This was a very helpful video! I hadn't realized that the reason I saw so many red signals ahead was because N3V marks all as red past number four ahead of me. If for nothing else this whole video was worth watching. And there was more than that, which was fantastic.
    Appreciate the downloadable cdp of the route, I will play with (learn from) this.

      @@colinstrains5885 Hi again Colin. I have downloaded you sample route but I haven't had a chance to install it and have a play as yet. I think there are several reasons why your sample route is so popular. Firstly, to test out your fine work, secondly, people know what a great job you do and will lap up anything you do and people love to have everything they can get haha. I downloaded it so that I can learn from your knowledge (being another reason why it is so popular) and I feel you are a perfectionist with a passion doing what you do. I am so looking forward to your route that you are making because I know it is going to be so well done. I will be happy to donate money to you if you are planning on releasing it for free. If not I will pay whatever you charge for it.

    Colin - Another helpful video, thank you very much. Great of you to point out the "reverse train facing" fix in trains. I discovered that by accident about 6 months ago. I'm probably not the only one who banged their head against the wall trying to figure out why a signal wouldn't turn green when backing through a switch. Spent countless hours trying everything, and as I was grabbing my mouse in frustration I must have clicked the reverse facing option, because suddenly the light changed. It's an amazing game but sure comes with its share of frustrations. Cheers

    Really great video Colin, definitely helps newer people to understand how to use the signals in Trainz. I also found out that when a signal is still showing red while the back of the train is facing it, to just move the train towards the signal a little bit and you don't even have to reverse the facing of the train. This worked for me in both 'DCC Mode' and 'Realistic Mode'. The North Folk Branch looks like a piece of the P&O that I will be spending much time running trains through it and such, definitely has that Eastern railroading look to it.

    • @colinstrains5885
      @colinstrains5885  5 років тому

      I wonder what you are doing to make that work without setting the reverse . .do you have a EOT on the last car perhaps ? I could never get it to work . . particularly when shunting . ...... Like the rest of the P&O route the final details are yet to be finished . . . . . . . . and probably won't be done until after beta testing . . . . . . . . I have a team waiting to get going ....but possible months away yet !

      @@colinstrains5885 Hopefully the beta testers don't find anything too wrong with the route! But I have no idea how it works for me. I found out while doing some shunting on the Tidewater Point Remake from JointedRail. I was doing some steam operations and when I coupled up to a few boxcars, I then just went into reverse and the signal in the yard went from red to green. This even worked when I got up the line to the pulp mill when I stopped in the siding and then went into reverse, it turned from red to green. I don't know if it's just from that route or something. I'll do further testing on that later on today to see if I can find out what I am doing to make it work. I will comment again later to let you know what I find

      @@ToxicRubyy Yes please do . . . . . . It could be due to the type of signals used ....... or any other number of causes .....the beta testers will find issues . . I have limited time to test the route . . . . .it is a large project . . . . and I am working to a timetable . . . . . . . .

    • @ToxicRubyy

      @@colinstrains5885 Keeping to a schedule works pretty much all the time, especially for big projects. I did some testing with signaling and just going backwards instead of reversing the facing of the engine. I did the testing in TRS2019 (which is a beautiful game) and on 3 different routes, all of which used different signal types for the most part. On all routes, I did about 10 minutes of shunting and running on the mainline with 5 boxcars and 5 gondolas and I used a CSX GP40-2 YN3 from JointedRail for the entire test to keep things consistent with the train consist. I also only used 'Realistic Mode' for operating the engine but the results should be the same for 'DCC Mode'.
      On 'Kickstarter County 2' I started in the yard and moved the boxcars from one siding and joined them with the gondolas on another siding. The signals all turned green for me every time I would set the reversing gear into reverse and then started moving a little bit, it wouldn't be changed just by moving the reversing gear. I then coupled to the front of the train and proceded up the hill but stopped after I passed a signal facing the opposite way. I then did the same thing I made the train go in reverse and I got the same result, the signal turned green after moving in reverse for a few meters. I then stopped and moved the train forward again and the signal went back to red. I had this same result on all of the routes I tested this on (Kickstarter County 2, C&O Hinton Divison, and the Pennsylvania and Berwind route by Approach Medium) I might test this on other routes in the future as well.
      I would like to ask anyone that reads this comment to possibly try this for yourself to see if you get the same result. Although it is not something super game breaking or makes running engines in the game easier or harder, it definitely was a bit fun to take a break from building routes and to just sit back, relax, and run some trains around.
