    Hi Colin. Sorry I have not been around commenting on your videos lately. Lots going on around here lately.
    Anyways, I really appreciate your videos on route merging. I have done this a few times, but still find this very interesting and informative. I have actually been thinking about expanding the Live Stream Route using route merging techniques.
    One thing I really, REALLY wish N3V would add is the ability to rotate the modules during the merging process. A module height adjustment would be a great addition as well. I think that would make this feature much more intuitive. But for the moment, even having the ability to merge routes is actually pretty cool.
    Thank you for the work you put into making these videos. There is always something to learn here...even for old Trainz "veterans" like me, LOL.

      Hi Rick . . .. I have been watching your efforts too . . .. some interesting stuff . . . . . . . . . . keep it up . . . .. . . . I suspect that rotating routes would not work . . because the poles North South Etc. are critical for the correct orientation of the sun etc, and authenticity of most location specific based routes . . . . . . .. these are set in the module when you create new boards too . . . . . . .and rotating would corrupt that. Imagine how shading would work correctly with mixed Poles . . . . . . . . . .. I thought about it too . . .and believe the penalty would be too severe in corruption of the routes settings. Hope that gives you food for thought.

    Anytime that I see one of your videos, I want to get right back to route building. Unfortunately, I am limited to T:ANE at the moment so there are some things that I cannot do in terms of building. It's great news to hear that the P&O is getting towards those final stages of development. I cannot wait to operate on the P&O! Another great tutorial from you Colin that helps other people like me who are fairly new to it.

      Thanks mate . . . . . .. . . . I am sorry you cannot enjoy TRS2019 yet . . .. . soon I hope ?
      In the meantime You can work with Tane as it can easily be migrated to TRS2019 . . . but then of course you would need to upgrade some of your work to get the best results . . . . . . . . . . . . TRS2019 is getting a new camera system too !

    • @ToxicRubyy
      @ToxicRubyy 5 років тому

      I should hopefully be able to experience it in a few months, but until then, Tane will work just fine for me. And I wonder what this new camera system is?

      @@ToxicRubyy Here is the note from N3V DEVELOPMENT NEWS

      Boy this week has flown by. We're simply having way too much fun checking out the new camera system updates!
      We've standardised the controls and cameras for both Driver and Surveyor, and added several new camera modes to expand the ways to experience Trainz. We can't wait to hear the feedback when we deliver the first beta to our Gold Class members (planned for next week).
      In other news, we've also put a ton of work into investigating various cases of stuttering (Trainz that is), and we're making good progress on the mobile editions (both iOS and Android) which will be released later in the year.

      @@ToxicRubyy Nothing wrong with using T:ANE still. I have TRS2019 and still find myself doing more in T:ANE than in TRS2019. In fact, my entire Live Stream Route (The largest Trainz project I have ever made) is slated to stay in T:ANE.
      There are still a few things in TRS2019 that I think need to be sorted out, and I think N3V placed the price a little too high. Don't get me wrong, I really do like TRS2019 a lot. Some of the newer features are amazing. Once all of the anomalies are sorted, it will become a great upgrade to T:ANE. Plus, as Colin said, importing routes and most content from T:ANE to TRS2019 is relatively simple. So by all means, keep working in T:ANE until you can get TRS2019.
      PS: I have tested the new camera modes in TRS2019, and they are fantastic! My personal favorite is the "Drone mode". I really wish N3V could find it in their hearts to implement these new camera modes into T:ANE.

    Hi Colin, I have not considered modules, but what a great idea as a whole route build in “one go” is daunting. By ‘chunking’ the task seems a good way to make it more manageable - May be even a way for a group to work on a route with different people working on different parts perhaps? Can someone send a module to someone else without going through the DLS? Not sure how people can share their routes privately. Thanks again Colin - so many ideas! :) Cheers, Stuart

    I hope you find this video of value . . .it is the start of the story of the development of the Pennsylvania & Ohio Railroad that has been developed using the module method . . I will have many videos on this development that is almost finished with 14 modules already done. I hope you can follow the story of this route . .which will be available later this year . . complete with some free Switchlist software to use for your own operations . . . . . . . . . .. . . .

    Colin, really enjoy your videos. I model in N scale, and have used JMRI for my operating sessions for years. It would be a great service to me and many other modelers if you could expand on how you use JMRI in your Trainz sessions. My impression of sessions is that the rolling stock and locos are static, and can't be changed for each session, so I'm not sure how to integrate JMRI into sessions. Thanks for all your work.

    What would you do if the baseboards are uneven when you merge them together

  • @BCSJRR

    Since you are a JMRI user, have you tried connecting JMRI Panel Pro to Trainz to create a working CTC panel that can throw turnouts and operate signals in a Trainz route?

    • @colinstrains5885
      @colinstrains5885  5 років тому

      My simplistic view is that Panel Pro has to have a physical connection to equipment on the model railroad to work. TRS2019 does not have anything like that . . . I have not used Panel pro.

    Ive tried to merge routes before. Ive had the objects on one the merged routes all of a sudden just raise in the air? Is there a way to not have this happen? Or am I clicking something wrong?

    • @colinstrains5885
      @colinstrains5885  2 роки тому

      I have had that problem in the past, do you have the latest version, as I have not had an issue for some time. Also try to merge your main layers to the receiving route, as it helps. Note you need to rename your layers in the route being merged, as this means you could have layers with the same name and that is a no no.
