I guess it's a 4-speed transmission. They all were. We didn't realize it at first and the previous owner was under the impression it was a 3-speed too. Shows we're just starting to learn about the old Fergies. The gentleman in the Ferguson group that explained it to us said "Look at it like this: You bought a used tractor with a new 4th gear." 🙃
Beautiful Tractor Ozzie! My grandpa had one. The hood was painted blue like the Ferguson emblem though. Would like to own one myself someday. Amazing how reliable they are and how versatile they still are to this day! Best wishes my friend.
didn’t know they had a 3 speed Ferguson TO20. my TO20 is a 4 speed + Reverse but besides that those Ferguson TO20’s are a good tractor. we owned ours for over 50 years and still have it as of today. doing a little paint restoration on it right now. but she’s a runner. that ole girl made some good memories throughout the years.
You're right they're all 4 speeds. I didn't know that then. Aren't they just the most fun little tractor to dart around on in fourth gear? Do you have videos of your tractor, I'll click over and check it out.
Ive had my grandads tractor since 72. Had the H for round 20yrs, the B for round 15. The Panzer for around 10, and the Cub for around 25 OR SO. I found them, as a bunch to be more reliable then some people I have known. After using one, and shutting it off, I always pet the hood and say something like thanks ole girl.
I know exactly what you mean. They take a little care but it's amazing how well they do and how long they last. I've got so much time on some of these tractors it's almost like we've formed a bond. I just enjoy them so much. Sounds like a neat fleet of tractors you have. I'm glad you appreciate them, I understand it completely.
That's so good to hear thanks. I guess I've become what they call an "old timer." I'm starting to really hope the younger folks learn some of this stuff and carry it on. So happy to know your step son watches.
I have a TE20 as well as a TO20, love them both but the TO20 has a Hupp Dual drive aux. transmission, gotta love that! you think your Fergie goes fast in 4th gear now, hold on to your hat!!! does yours still start with the gear shift? worlds first neutral safety feature :P
Hey thanks for finding us. Ya know there is a really good group on Facebook. They know much more about these tractors than I do there. It's called Ferguson collectors of North America or something really close to that. They've been really kind with questions we've had. Hope in the meantime you've figured it out.
I've been wondering about doing some brush mowing with it. Seems like it would need to be a pretty small unit and requires an adaptor for the pto to do it on a 3-point right? Or do you have a pull-behind mower?@@wadekummer

Loved the TO20! You make it look so easy I think maybe even I could drive that!
Thank you! It's actually a really fun and easy tractor to drive. Come take it for a little spin some time.
