Why can’t they just have it somewhere else? The college I graduated from actually held my high school graduation before I attended the college. My high school wanted to use their event center and wanted something “nicer” than our gym, but it was just a bigger gym with different seating to be honest. Ironically, when my husband and I graduated college together, we didn’t walk for that one. We had them mail us our degrees, because we didn’t want to deal with our families mostly. But charging us each over $100 for a cap and gown that we’d be borrowing for over an hour and a half to take a few pictures, walk on a stage, wave, and leave wasn’t of interest to us. Zero regrets about that 7 years later.
Cap and gown were free at mine. Only charged if you didn't return. I only really went since it was the last time I would see half of the people I went to college with.

My graduation this year wasn’t only a massive event because of walking the stage, but I also proposed later that same day. Idk what I would have done if they had cancelled it
It's all relative. Same boat here, except with college graduation. I personally don't care, but I also got my high school graduation which was similar to a college one due to class size. (500) But that was a choice you and I made. Being forced to not have either one would be awful for those who actually care and their families.

Maybe this will be a wake up call for this generation! Law and order and Constitutional Rights!
This generation is doing what every other has. The only difference is that the older generations are punishing the well behaved members instead of the ones causing the problem.
What does constitutional rights have to do with a graduation. The people exercising their constitutional rights are the protesters. Your statement is hypocritical.
@@sbs.2759 the protester's rights DON'T include infringing on other peoples rights. yes, they are allowed to PEACFULLY protest, the moment they block some one else movement / speech, they're NOT being peaceful any longer, and must be shut down and removed. When you appeal to fake students instead of actual students.
It’s possible that the “problem” people will find out about the other location and just be there and harass the graduates and their families.
Yes, move it to a sports stadium
Cap and gown were free at mine. Only charged if you didn't return. I only really went since it was the last time I would see half of the people I went to college with.
My daughter almost went through this too, but luckily Univ. Iowa is did allow their seniors to be honored but her high school did not due to covid. I feel for those who didn't get either due to circumstances not in your control. Ridiculous two milestone events in ones life were taken from them, hopefully they will all take those unfair events n turn them into real life lessons learned.
Colleges suck. I'm glad you are finally learning this.
USC didn’t cancel the graduation ceremony. They cancelled the commencement ceremony where they have a speaker. They still had a graduation ceremony.
Going in debt without a celebration is crazy 💀

That's such a first world problem to have :)
Wow!!!! I didn't realize it was the 2020 grads to 2024 that had their graduations canceled! Horrible!
I graduated high school in 2020 and I was devastated that it got canceled. I can only imagine those going through the same thing again. I am glad I did community college online and just had my diploma mailed to me.
My daughter's community college held the graduation outside with a lot of separation
I graduated hs and college without a ceremony for either. That occured years earlier and for different reasons. But it still bothers me. I can only imagine how living through Covid would intensify that distress.
I feel so sorry. My grandson did not have a high school graduation... we feel so sad now.

My graduation this year wasn’t only a massive event because of walking the stage, but I also proposed later that same day. Idk what I would have done if they had cancelled it
I skipped my graduation. I didn't know people actually cared so much about it.
It's all relative. Same boat here, except with college graduation. I personally don't care, but I also got my high school graduation which was similar to a college one due to class size. (500)
But that was a choice you and I made. Being forced to not have either one would be awful for those who actually care and their families.
Exactly. I skipped both my high school and college graduation and had the diplomas mailed to me. No big deal.
It's kind of sad how many people romanticize it. And then they're disappointed because that perfect fantasy vision they formed in their head didn't come true. Never overhype for anything.
its so sad people give an immense amount of value for graduation. Sad state of affairs.
This inconvenience is hurting them so much and yet they care nothing for the children brutally murdered who won't live to see another day.
Graduation? They are struggling to stay alive. They don't even care about their education at this point.

Kansas State canceled their graduation the week that my family was flying in to come see me walk. That was the end of 2020, it sucked.

Honestly I graduated in 2020 and did the drive thru graduation, and it was fun. I was given a tee shirt, got out of the car to get on the podium, took a picture in my cap and gown, was given a Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich, got back in the car, and enjoyed the rest of my day.
