I think it was beacause the general mood of the saga was not the same from the first movie/book. Twilight has a more dark vibe and this song it is perfect for that.

Honestly thinking about it now, if Steph Meyer didn't go the teen heartthrob route, this series could've been so different. Now this movie kind of sucks IMO in terms of production; the other four do it way more polished. In the whole movie everyone's way too pale, entire film's colored way too green, trash acting that I can't believe was allowed. Vampire powers edited with what looks like a $5 budget on editing. Honestly, Steph Meyer's writing could also be better in general. That being said, this dark aesthetic is so dope and I loved it as a kid. The lore, the aesthetics, it's all fantastic. I appreciate it even more now going back. The music made up for the more mediocre aspects of the movie. This song especially, it makes me feel terror and excitement at the same time. Also, as a series Twilight completely paved the way for new-age film series going forward. I know they switched directors but the tone jump from the 1st one to the next ones makes it so jarring that it feels like it should be in a separate series. I don't mind the other movies and books but I wish there was a version to read/watch that expanded more on this dark tone.

Agreed. I’m assuming the many different directors for New Moon, Eclipse, and BD all played a part in the way the makeup looked on the vampires. Also the franchise garnering mass attention and millions, played a part in the makeup on the vampires as well :/
Watched Twilight for the first time the other day and this piece of music was the one thing I couldn't stop thinking about after the movie finished. I had to watch the scene again and again. They looked best in eclipse IMO. They got the make up just right because they’re supposed to look like they’re made of smooth, pale, flawless stone.
I love this music, especially were the music begins at 1: 46 and then another part blends in at 1:56 if you guys know what I mean.
