Beats the heck out of me, send me one and I'll give it a try! Seriously, I think there would be some issues. First, I have no idea if the mounting hole is is the right size, then there's not enough room in the blade guard so that would have to be cut away, then there's the question of would the motor have enough torque to cut with a blade that's an inch bigger in diameter. And then you'd probably want to modify the stop so you don't accidentally cut through the base. I'm going with "It's probably more trouble than it's worth".
lol, it's a warm day many places I've lived too. My wife on the other hand has lived in Arizona since she was 13. So she doesn't even remember what it's like to live where it gets really cold.
came here for the chop saw review , but honestly the comment about giving your old equipment to a down on his luck single father was just heartwarming, you are the true patriots of this nation, please don’t mind my username lol its a joke
Hey can someone help me solve a doubt please, I work with these 25 milimeter wide led profiles for upper furniture, they are hollow, 1mm thick and less than 6mm height but indeed 25mm wide, Can you please confirm if I can fit those 25mm wide into the adjustable clamp space , thank you
What are you on about, that I'm saying cartridge cases and not shells? I'll make you a deal, I'll learn how to say shells if you learn the correct name for cartridge cases. Hint, it ain't "shells".
Please tell the rest of the world the temperature in CELCIUS. Otherwise we have no idea of the temperature…..But no hard feelings…a very goo video you made

Do you have the Thingiverse link for the jig and are you going to revise it? I thought HF quit selling those little saws....glad to see them back in stock!
Here's the link to the one I showed in the video. www.thingiverse.com/thing:4599314 I'm not going to revise it until I've had a chance to use it for a bit. Once you get it located in the vice for the cut length you want and locked in place, it's ok, but it does take some initial fiddling to get there. Might be nice to have it lock in place on that hump in the middle of the vice then have screw adjuster at the base end for trim length. That would cut the fiddle factor down, the jig would locate on the hump then lock it down and turn the screw to get your cut length. Dammit, now I want that. lol. I'm taking the day off tomorrow to go to the dentist, maybe I'll work on it when I get home and am waiting for the novacaine to wear off.
It was actually a beautiful day here. The barometer just plummetted, so I suspect we're in for some thunderstorms this evening. But at least summer is finally over.
It will cut acrylic and wood pen blanks easily. But be aware that it's only got a 1/2" depth of cut. So if you're cutting the typical 3/4" square blanks you can't cut all the way through without flipping it and making a second cut.
@@bzflowerbee Harbor Freight makes a 6" cut off saw for around $50, it comes with an abrasive blade that will not be suitable for acrylic or wood (well, you can but you won't really like the results) but it has both both 5/8 and 7/8 arbors, so it should be pretty easy to put a 6" or 6-1/2" circular saw blade on it that would be suitable for acrylic and wood. There's also a company called Proxxon that makes a 3" chop saw, it's really nice but it's also about $350.
@@3rdpig thanks for replying. I'm trying to turn a pen and cut the blank using nitter box but came out not straight and cut it too short. I'm looking for a power too that is not too big we I think $100 so I can cut blank, wooden or acrylic.
When the temp drops below 80 my wife puts a sweater on and when it goes into the 60's she looks like Eskimo Nell with this giant parka. It's hilarious.
Great in-depth review and exactly what I was looking for to make an informed decision.
Thank you so much. This is exactly what I need to see before making my decision.
LEGEND! This is what I was looking for!
This would be great for cutting residential window screen frames.
Can you use a more popular 3" blade on this? Thanks!

Great detail, don't care about the weather, neighbor and inhabitants.
good morning Chuck! another great video, thank you

Forgive if i missed this, but can u cut molding and at a 45? Thx!
It would probably work fine for cutting 1/2" molding at a 45. Just keep in mind that the cut depth is only around 5/8".
Thx!! Just what I needed to know!

Thanks, passing those power tools on just seemed like the right thing to do at the time.

Jaw opening is 21mm. The jaws themselves are 8mm thick, so it would be possible to machine 2mm off each jaw to get the 25 mm opening you need.
How do you change the blade? Thanks
Same as on a handheld circular saw, take off the blade guard and there's a a screw that holds the blade on.
Have you had any issues with the saw holding up?
Still working fine and on the original blade.
@3rdpig thanks for the video and the reply, it helped me decide to purchase one.
Can’t you say shells? And are you re loading shells

And Google does hate our freedom, indeed
Can it cut 21mm diameter wood
Nope, 16mm is about the max it will cut.

How wide is the vise Jaws
1.125"
Thank you very much, I will measure my HO track
Warmer than Northern Indiana or southwest Michigan only 61° here.
