I feel so fortunate that I was able to see the Moody Blues so many times: the original 5 person group, then the 4 person group, then the 3 of them remaining in the last years. They were truly a unique and absolutely wonderful group.
The finest band ever to grace the stage. I’m so glad to have been born when I was so I could have had their music and so many wonderful concerts in my life. I must say, I love their clothes in this video, as well!
Brilliant song my all time favourite from the Magnificent Moodies, Justin Hayward, John Lodge, Mike Pinder, the late Graeme Edge and the late Ray Thomas. Justin & John still touring solo all these years later and selling out venue after venue fantastic
I clearly remember watching this show. This is one of my favorite Moodies tunes. I thought they did a fine job with it. I have been searching for this video for many years and had given up hope of finding it. Seeing it turn up on UA-cam was a dream come true! It still holds up today. Thank you for making a Moody Blues fan very happy! John from 🇨🇦
Love this video and the singer! In the sixties we listened to records and AM radio. There were very few videos for us to place a person with the voice. Living in the US, this was especially true for British rock groups. Thanks for sharing the video!
Followed by the Moodies backing Tom Jones on the Jerry Lee Lewis (RIP) number "It's a Hang Up, Baby". The Moodies opened for Jones in France during a tour in 1967. They both shared the same manager, Colin Berlin.
Yeh, kudos to Tom, he championed a lot of rock bands in the late 60’s including CSNY and Janis Joplin. I believe he was instrumental in getting the Moodies some of their early gigs with the new line up with Justin and John.
I had been looking for this clip for ages as I remembered it well. The only time that I saw the Moodies in motion. But what happened to the sound? Is it my computer? The image looks corrupt, too.
The source footage was heavily watermarked, this is as good as I can make it look. Hopefully some day the original clean video will get a release, but until then....
Whilst not as bad as the large time-coded version of this footage on YT, for this the Revolver TV watermark & subtitles were removed see ua-cam.com/video/8Fwg7HEmv4s/v-deo.html The footage was also mirrored (as was left-right switched) and denoised & upscaled. The watermark remover is pretty good I think, in matching the content rather than just blurring, as most do.
@@TonyBrown-MoodyBluesyes it actually did a great job. The watermark is pink, and none of that colour is visible. You have made it ten times more watchable.
Whoever thought to show the costume people over the moody blues should be fired! We don't see this classic song performed in it's full capacity. Absolutely shameful!
@@peteb1206 what's the point to have a guest performer shown only 25 percent of the time? A lack of respect to your guests. Just bad! Then or now , this should never happen. Perhaps less then 25 percent.
@randyacuna5643 you're complaining about something no one can do anything about. It's from a very long time ago. Aside from Justin and John, everyone involved in this clip has either retired or passed away. Sure it's corny and overly arty for no reason, but directors used the free rein they had for these sorts of scenes in variety shows back then. It's of its time. There are way more things to gripe about in what is supposed to pass for "entertainment" and "music" today.
What made The early Moody Blues so unique is that they were 'multi-dimensional' artists, taking from diverse musical forms being soft & quiet, loud & heavy, (from classical to folk to hard rock psychedelia). That is because all five members were very talented and contributed to every song and every record album.
They are Rock Royalty!!!! The Moody Blues are the best band, ever!!!!!!! 💙💙💙💙💙....

One of the best bands ever formed in the world of music.
Timeless music from a timeless band. We miss you Mr. Pinder.

And now the late Mike Pinder, sadly 😢
An all time favorite, wow what a gem
Justin was a very beautiful man!!
With a beautiful voice too 🩷

Wow! Good old days with excellent music!
segue from psychedelic to Prince Valiant to space opera and back again , very Moody Blues , who else does that ?
Brilliant, beautifull❤

Definitely early Moodies...only the beginning!!!!! Still here after all these years!!
So beautiful...omg...love them!💖
Thank you Tony for displaying this for all of us, to see and hear this wonderful song from this wonderful group🙏💖
You're welcome! Glad you enjoyed it as much as I did
Great video lovely song so strong and timeless sixti sound
Brilliant.....how wonderful to see them all together again......
Very cool. New to me.
Love this song
Alem das outras bandas .geniais músicos .
Love seeing this clip of theMoodies with Tom Jones ❤
Where did the decades go?
i ask that my self seems just like yesterday...
They are in our minds. I replay them a lot.
clumsily edited . the whole , special work is deep and timeless .

ONLY JUSTIN & JOHN LEFT NOW 😢😢😢

Why listen to new music when you have old moody blues
The album version sounds like a full on rod with timbrs on top hitting the floor tom Jones got good taste
Peccato per l' imfima qualità sonora di questo video, non rende giustizia allo stupendo brano dei MOODY BLUES!!!!!!!
I don’t know if you can really call their music one of the best from that era but I’m quite sure no one else have produced music like theirs !
There's only one Justin Hayward. His era of the band is hard to categorise or to compare with anything else.
I agree with all the other commenters.
What IS that at the bottom of the screen?
It's a blurred/obscured watermark
@@peteb1206 Yeah, it's annoying.
Queen Guinevere looks a lot like a young Julie Andrews.
Is that a young Timothy Dalton as King Arthur?
What year was this?
Looks like 1969. Most of Tom's shows were made that year
Video is not working.
What's being blurred out at the bottom of the screen? It's ruining the video

@@squatch545 If you see the source video (youtube link above), you can clearly see the footage had been mirrored, which I corrected.
Tom Jones really screwed this up with the stage dummies getting more camera time than the Moodies.
Director's decision, not Tom's

@randyacuna5643 this was variety television from over 50 years ago, things were done differently then.

Dull uninspiring song to bring to a prime time US TV appearance. Love the Moodies.
Fits well with the album they created with that song on it. Not a dull song at all.

Contrast this beautiful music with Rap, which is garbage

It takes time to get. In the context of the album, and the Moody Blues overall body of work, it is perfection itself.
