Family turns NEGLECTED 15 Acres into their DREAM HOMESTEAD // ONE year in EIGHT MINUTES

- After 15 years of dreaming, last year we found our homestead! We are excited to show you what we have been working on this year! This includes plowing, disking, planting crops! Planting two gardens, harvesting them and preserving them! No cows to four cow on the homestead behind electric fencing we put up ourselves. Getting and raising pigs, butchering and preserving them! We replaced an old well, a cabin roof, cleaned out buildings, bought and fixed two tractors. We purchased and used meat grinders, vacuum sealers, 1 lb meat bags, etc.
We wanted a healthier way of life, so we are trying to be food self sufficient to about 90% of our food intake. This year we harvested 1500 pounds of our own food, from veg to meat! We cleared land for our kids to have places to play.
We wanted a slower pace of life in rural America, and we love it! Join us in the adventure!

What progress! Looking forward to the future growth!

I can hardly believe it myself! Someday it feels like we just got here, and others like we've been here for years.
Fantastic!!! Which was to be anticipated, LOL, as that's 'your way', as a good steward of what God gives you.
Thank you rgb

Thanks MM!
Can't wait to see the progress!
What an amazing accomplishment of turning dreams into reality. Your channel inspires me to keep working to to do the same and relaxes me while studying for exams and finals. Next quarter will be the 1st milestone of the program entering the outpatient clinic. I enjoy learning from your channel you make it fun. Looking forward to having our homestead and implementing what yours and other channels have taught me.
I'm honored my friend. Keep up the good work!
Super inspiring! Thanks! Blessings to you & your family. Looks like you're giving your kids a great life.
Thank you! We are trying :)
Great Christian Witness.
"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much."
James 5:16, NIV
Great job you guys! Our hobby farm had been foreclosed on and we didn't even know we had fences. It took us 5 years to put our raised bed garden in. We had hundreds of saplings to cut down before we could even begin doing anything with the property! We had so many stumps! Many trees had fallen down too. You couldn't even drive up the driveway all the way because of a fallen tree. You couldn't get into the barn because of a fallen tree. You've done a lot in just a year! Kudos!
It is so much work! Rewarding work, but work all the same! I bet your place is beautiful now!
@@FlannelFarms It's a lot better. I can't imagine how nice your place will look in a couple more years!
Really impressive what you’ve gotten done in a year!
Thanks!
Such an incredible amount of progress! Keep it up! I look forward to seeing more! Keep on growing!
Thanks Digging!
New subscriber here, referred by Billy from Permapastures Farm. We also have a 15 acre homestead we purchased last year and have been transforming it from a horse property to a homestead. So far we have pigs and egg laying hens. Meatbirds arrive end of the month. I look forward to watching y’all. We’ve pondered a UA-cam channel ourselves, but are kind of private and introverted haha
Funny you say that, many homesteaders/self sufficiency people are! (My wife hates being on camera lol)
But I really wanted to document it and more then that, encourage people to try! Show as best I can what it is really like. Somethings don't translate well over film, (like how tired you can be) but we do our best.
If we can help in anyway please let us know.
Side note, Billy is awesome!
This is amazing! New subscriber here and just noticed you all aren't far from us! My husband is stationed in Norfolk and we live in Suffolk. If he doesn't tank up in Feb he will retire in Nov and we are making plans to homestead. I know you are having surgery and we will me so you in our prayers. Do you do tours? Keep us posted on the surgery! I'm about to binge on your channel now 😁. May YAH bless you and keep you and yours!
We would love to have you come out! Send us an email at theflannelguys54@gmail.com and we will work on some dates! Thanks for subbing and I hope you find some usefulness in the videos :)
Looking good 👍
Y'all have done an amazing job!
Thank you Koi!
So inspiring!
Thanks! It was a lot of work, but even more fun :)
Beautiful!
Thanks!
nice😊
Just subbed, came over from DTG..place looks great!
Thank you APP! We are having a blast trying to give this lifestyle a go!
Chances are y’all have a few local friends who would help put in a fall garden. I know I would if I lived nearby. Sometimes it is good to give friends an opportunity to step up. Maybe a schedule of 3 opportunity periods of 2-3 hours would give friends an opportunity and you guys an extra hand for a bit.
Good idea! I may throw that out there.
👍
This is the sauce, brother
Yeah man.
DTG sent me
Welcome
How do you all fit in that tiny buildin??
Cool door lock.
Ha, aspect ratio is a beautiful thing. I may copyright it.
Congrats! You should be proud of the accomplishment. Praying for God’s blessing on the next year ahead for you and your family. Hope recovery is going well!
Thank you Aaron, God bless you as well.

Lol.
regenerative farming? or till? which is better?
Depends on what and where.
Our front field was used for commercial crops for decades. We are trying to restore it naturally using animals. I did plow it when we planted the grasses for the animals.
Our garden area was so over grown we tilled it this year, but we should have to next year.
Praying for quick successful healing ❤️🩹 and can’t wait to see what you do this coming year.
Thanks Donna!
This is an incredible amount to accomplish in a year. Me and my wife got a 2 acre property and haven't got near as much done in a year. We're steadily building and improving on it though and it feels good to accomplish things.
We are a bit nuts, we move at a rather rapid pace and really enjoy getting it done.
Also how much you can get done really depends on work schedules and resources.
I bet your place looks great! If you want to send us pictures we would love to see them. Theflannelguys54@gmail.com
