i just got in rd this year (so thankful) and although i had less words for my why tulane essay, i truly believe it is the biggest fact about my acceptance
Class of 2024 where you at?! Also sidenote to prospectives with low gpa's: Even if you don't think your grades are good enough you should definitely apply. I got a D in my sophomore year math class and a C in my junior year french class and I still got in. Not to be arrogant but yeah, my EC's and essays were pretty good in my opinion. But more so than that I think Tulane realized that it was literally the only school I wanted to attend and I showed them that. I know everyone talks about demonstrated interest to get into this school but that's because it's VERY VERY TRUE. Prove to them that you need to be there and that they need you there and I'm sure it will GREATLY help your chances :) I'll respond to any questions
Also, if you're worried about one particular grade, there's an option to explain why you might have not done so well in that course, for me I took 2 years of Spanish even though I was waived from that requirement due to my learning disability so even tho the grade from my second year of Spanish wasn't up to the standards of typical Tulane grades I was able to explain why
Alex, I've been watching so many of your videos I love them!!! I don't know if this is something you would want to answer, but what was your high school GPA??
Hey Alex, perhaps you don’t know this, but do you know if your tips apply to get into Tulane Law as well? I completed my undergrad already and I really want to attend Tulane Law.
I'm sorry, I really wish I could help you with Tulane Law. I'm solely involved with the undergraduate school and a little bit of the med school. I wish you the best of luck!
Hey! Love this video. I was wondering if getting in early action is significantly harder then Early decision. I’m hesitant to commit but If early decision helps a lot then I may reconsider. Thanks for the info and a response would be awesome!
From my sources, Early decision acceptance rate is approximately 30% and eary action acceptance rate is around 10%. These numbers fluctuate depending on the number of applicants in both pools.
yes, it's very safe. Their are passionate police patrolling all around (along the perimeter and as far as 2 to 3 blocks away from the campus) and within the campus. The campus is bordered at its front by St. Charles avenue, the most prestigious road in the city, and its back is bordered by the sport stadiums, then Claiborne avenue . The sides are bordered on one side by Loyola University which is continuous with Calhoun street, and its other side is bordered by Broadway street, which is basically nothing but Tulane students as residents. It's like the Fort Knox of the city. You would have to venture a good mile to be exposed to any suspicious people/places
And hey, I have been living in NOLA my whole life (21 years) on Octavia street, which is a mile or so away from Tulane. That is why I felt the need to chime in on this question haha. I am a senior at UNO transferred from ULL. I didn't get into to Tulane but its an amazing campus on the inside it feels like its own world
Do you think Tulane values well rounded student more than other top schools? I’ve heard many top schools specifically ivys don’t like well rounded students. I have strong academics and statistics and a variety of extracurriculars so I am worried about being too well rounded and not having a “spike” that many people talk about lol.
I gotta say that, YES, Tuane values well-rounded students. There's no such thing as "too well-rounded." I feel that Tulane looks at what you bring to the table and determines whether or not you'd be a good fit here. With that being said, the academic standard for applicants is increasing, so don't let ECs get in the way of academics and test scores!
Because of Covid-19, do you think Tulane would accept more applications at the regular deadline than early admissions? I was planning to do some more volunteering and ECs this summer but that got halted because of Covid. I really want to go but I’m not sure if I can show my potential at early admissions. Thanks!
I’ll be attending tulane next year and I have no inside advice but I kind of doubt that they will. I think that they’re trying to lower their acceptance rate by accepting more students ED - alex didn’t mention this but the EA acceptance rate was also only like 6% this year - so I doubt that they’d sacrifice that if they still have enough interested students applying early. Just my opinion though! Good luck :)
Apply eary action for sure - during the process, explain in a personal statement your stituation - I'm sure that many others could relate. PRO TIP: I suggest not writing your main personal statement about COVID-19. Jeff Schiffman said in his blog that many other seniors will doing the same thing, so you want to stand out by not writing about the same topic.
Hey Alex, great video! already subscribed! Just a quick question, do you think ACT/SAT being optional for 2020-2021 cycle is a bad or good thing? I am really not sure about what to do lol
Thanks for subscribing! I spoke with an admissions counselor and he told me that it's best to submit your standardized test scores. Overall, ACT/SAT will have more weight than GPA. However, if you are not proud of your score, then I would submit. Good luck and hope that helps!
do you think a 28 ACT and a 4.0 gpa as well as being very involved in community service, such as being in a community service club for 3 years of high school and having over 100 hours of community service is okay? is that competitive or should i boost my ACT score?
That's tough to say. Generally, Tulane will put slightly more weight on the ACT since is it is more objective than GPA (high school difficulty varies from city to city). Community Service is always good to have, but be sure to phrase it as less transactional - this means discuss the quality of the service and the impact on your community rather than explicity saying "over 100 hours." Other than that, be sure to show demonstrated interest and apply for the scholarships!
Hey! I don’t know if you are still looking at the comments under this video, but I contacted an admissions officer through email concerning a question I had, instead of the form they tell you to submit with questions you might have. Will they still track that email I sent as demonstrated interest or not?
@@AlexSuh great! Hopefully they see that. It was a genuine question I had concerning the programs they were offering. Thank you so much for the quick response!
At 4:16, you said to let admissions know that you’re coming to visit the campus, how do you let admissions know of this? Do you email, call, or communicate with them in some way?
Could you possibly make a video about transfer students? I’m in my first year of community college and would Love to hear more about a transfer experience to Tulane (especially since their website doesn’t have too much extensive information😅). Also, I love your videos! They’ve really gotten me pumped and inspired to work hard enough to get to Tulane! Thank you for making them!
@@claricep3550 if you don’t mind, I have some questions as a possible transfer looking to attend school here: At 4:16, in the video he said let admissions know that you’re visiting the campus, how do you contact them about this? Do you email, or call them, or communicate through another mean?
I'm watching this two days to the RD deadline and now I'm really sad because I love the school but didn't know about it till December and I don't even think I should apply anymore if my chances are so low.
When you choose to apply to Tulane University, you receive a login for the application portal. Within this portal is a section to sign up for an interview. Hey Do we have to write two personal statement, one for common app and one for scholarship, can't we send the same personal statement. What to write in personal statement for sending for scholarship. Do we have to send essay with common app personal statement?

Do I have a good chance at getting in if I apply early decision? Also your videos are so helpful tysm! I think I’m going to apply to the Political economy major
I wish I discovered your channel earlier this year. Hi,I want to apply EA for Tulane and I'm also planning on taking the December SAT. Can I submit that too? I submitted my October SAT,had a 1380 but I feel I can do better in the December test
I think it depends on the strengths and weaknesses of the other parts of your application. If you are weaker on the personal essays, then going test optional may be inhibitory. If the rest of your application is strong, then I feel that the test score would be just supplementary.
I had around 700 - HOWEVER, I only went into detail for my top two activities for my Community Service Fellowship Scholarship. This is because quality is more important than quantity.
@@AlexSuh That's great! What would you say is the average amount of service hours Tulane students did in high school? I have not done much and I want to make sure it does not affect my application in a few years. Also I love your videos, thank you SO much!
