A tune that no one could possibly dislike played by a brilliant and honestly expressive musical genius. And if you haven't yet, please check out his studio version of this tune from the 50's,with Conte Candoli on trumpet
I really dislike that super low action soft touch bass sound. More noise from the fingers than the resonance of the wood. Red Mitchell can make it work, but here it is out of place. Maybe partially amp EQ settings; too much high mid. It is somewhat of it's time; I'm glad tastes have returned to a fuller tone.
I beg to differ, my man. The bass player is kickin' butt all the way, from the git-go, and not missing a beat en-route. And, that's why the group swings here with such precision..
@@sambrinson6153 Agree,Sam. Mr. Dumas obviously went to school on Ron Carter: note the similar tone, rhythmic embellishments, slightly-on-top-of-the-beat drive, and interesting note choices...
Some people can talk and play in different languages, if you only understand one musical language don't criticise what you can't understand,- compris ?

Pepper plays way too long without really saying that much.

Yikes. Sometimes better not to "share".
