I chose a Kamiq after looking at both the Seat Arona and VW T Cross. The Kamiq has an extended wheelbase over it's VW Group relatives, which gives increased rear leg room or a slightly longer load bay with the seats folded.
Same model, but for more than a double price compared to the base spec released 5 years ago. What a time to live, eh?
Great review Nobby. A practical sensible car. I doubt if the target customer will fork out the extra for this spec. They're too sensible and know they won't get it back when they go to change.
Yeah I think so too although there’s a decent bit of kit for the 4k. Matrix headlights alone are mad money!
Nice review, i have this on my reserve list, the Octavia VRS DSG 2.0TDI 4X4 is top at the moment, but used not new, a few years old maybe. There is just so much you get out of a 1.0 litre.
Great review Mark.I found it surprising on a sander too that one could drive in sixth gear at relatively low speeds without labouring the engine
I say similar to people when they can't get their heads around a 1.0 engine these days. Not what they used to be!
Skoda prices 37000 euro plus for the Monte Carlo. Octavia facelift model starting at between 37-38000 euro whats going on?
There must be a new model coming out
I’ve got the 1.5 dog Monte Carlo. Think it is an excellent all round car. Unfortunately the dealership tried to rip me off and told me Skoda make inferior cars. I won’t be buying another or any Skoda vehicle.
Just use an alternative dealer.
In a similar fashion I also had a bad experience at my dealership that I've used for 11 years. They denied me a warranty claim, offered me an oil and filter change for £450, and just tried to sell me £1600 of con-artist extras on a new Kamiq. So I went to another dealership and I collect my new car (1.5 DSG Monte Carlo Kamiq) in a couple of weeks. Their loss.
@@JayBooney same thing denied a warranty claim and tried to charge £360.
@@iansinclair7581 this won’t be unique to Skoda, so give another dealer a chance next time. Love the Skoda brand!
@@JayBooney The nearest 3 other Skoda outlets are owned by the same firm.
Did you try the 2 suspension settings? Wonder iif they make much difference?
Yes they do, in sport mode the suspension is a lot firmer and the steering is stiffer. Feels very sporty tbf
Regarding the models upgrades; wheels size...
Increasing the wheels´ size by an inch, will reduce the comfort by a mile! Why the heck would a respectable company, like Skoda, promote an absolute decrease in comfort and economty. You loose in comfort, as well as economy.
On top of that, you have to live to those ugly black surfaces...!
C´mon, give us a decent rim and a premium tire. Adapted to the car and its appointed driving expectations. This is definitely not a track car!
More and more poshed up crossovers
Wtf mate, you all go for the top specs as if it would be a walk in the park, not one thinks as a real life buyer, where setting money apart is not the easiest task you can do !
What would you like me to do? Tell Škoda what cars to put on press fleets?
@@NobbyOnCars Nope, but you can mention that lower trims get three cylinders...
Buyers on PCP are the target market, that way the 4k doesn't seem as big a hike. @@NobbyOnCars
@@victormarian7889So what is the problem with 3 cylinders engine? It is cheaper, less powerful, but economy.
@vladob4073 Not a problem, but in real life, those models would be rather sold, so it's more realistic to acknowledge that level of power and consumption !
