I appreciate your review from photographers perspective. Photos and videos looks really good form Pixel 8 Pro.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!

Very very few tech reviewers have the knowledge or skill to actually review and use the camera like this. This is far more helpful than just throwing numbers up on the screen or taking a picture of some boring scenery.
Excellent review, I really appreciate camera reviews like this vs the tech reviewers that only post silly objects of things sitting around the room. Thanks!
Exactly! A sofa with a dinosaur toy or a table with stupid things
@@Ogura_Tech then these guys realise iPhone skin tones are always off
@@mxboucher Sorry.
Thank you so much, that means a lot to me!
I don't know what you expect the average people who buy these things to take pictures of if not their surroundings. You think everyone's a pro?
Are you going to do a revisit once they release the night sight video/video boost update in December?
I'm super excited about this feature, can't wait to test it out! I am thinking of making some Shorts to cover it
this is the kind of video I was looking for, you focused a lot on the RAW files and zoomed/cropped details, and 50mp mode. A very few reviewers are actually testing, RAW images and 50MP. Amazing!
The détail on the zoomed in shots is crazy
it's because she's actually a photographer and know her way around a camera and how to actually utilize it unlike so many tech reviewers
Thank you, I appreciate it!
@@reemalhadrami5274because reviewers aren't pro. They're your average joe. Like 95% of people who use these phones are
@@juliatrottiwhat is the raw mode? Sorry i don't know anything about the camera, i already have the pixel 8 pro and pretty like the pictures.
I was expecting this, Julia!!! I always look forward to your opinion, just ordered a Pixel 8 Pro! ❤
WOW i'm actually really impressed with the shots. They look great and not too smartphone-ie
I spent all morning shooting with the thing ... I've found that everything looks way overprocessed (which maybe is what you meant by smartphone-ie?) ... but I was doing nature/animal photography ... and I suspect that it's been optimised for humans/built environment (which I say with no evidence beyond that's what I've seen in numerous videos where people are talking about how great it is ... and that's the most obv diff to what I've been trying it with).
Yess, that's what I love about it! It has a good level of sharpness/detail, but it's not so overdone that it looks super digital
Nice video. What would you say is the best, for shooting raw, iphone 15 or this?
Could you do a comparison between phones? 😊
Neither TBH if you want to mess about with RAW buy a device with a proper full size sensor..!
@@hariboholmes4638 already have fullframe. Some of this is better then the other, probably wait for a good 1 inch sensor in a Phone before update. Saw onother video with pictures on the sky, pixel seems to be a bit better.
If we're talking strictly photos, the pixel is better
@@therealzuluking how?
@@yamahass66 The pixel has always been the best at taking pictures since it is come out and also it's the most reliable meaning. If you give the phone to a person they don't have to know how to take pictures, how to adjust any settings or anything like that. They can just point and shoot and you know for a fact the picture will come out good. Then if you marry that up with you actually using your controls you know your pictures are going to come out even better than if you apply raw and want to edit more or you get a pro and you use the pro controls. Not to mention the fact that you can take great astrophotography shots with it and you don't have to know how to set it up and low light photos are great. Pixels are the reason why phones have night sight on them because Pixel got so good at taking night pictures that everybody else had to add it. Also, the real tone is unmatched, especially if you're a colored person. No phone takes pictures of my skin or any of my friends. Skin has accurately as a pixel does. It's insanely accurate, especially in video now
This is the only channel you need to watch to get full ideas about any photography device, so detailed.
Also Lee zavitz
@@jonassilva4350 thanks, I'll check him out
Thank you, I appreciate it
@@jonassilva4350 His reviews are great! I love his work
Nice video! I notice that if you take a normal photo and then use Portrait under Magic Eraser Edit, it looks much better than the actual portrait mode
Damn that looks nice ! I am so glad I brought the pixel 8 pro
Model is too much prettier 😊. Like young Angelina Jolie
Lovely review, and appreciate the tips ! I received my 8P a few days ago and impressed how well it works one-handed, google has a winner 🙂
The model is so pretty
Could you make a video talking about "Raw" video on android?
There's an app called MotionCam Pro that can record on the highest quality of your device
There's some samples here on youtube, the app takes out all of that phone look,it's insane how little people are talking about it
Maybe in the future you could do a comparison between stock cam and the app, then raw and ProRes!!
I really liked the overall photo and video performance of the new Google Pixel 8 Pro. I just found the night video test in selfie mode a little bit disappointing because there was too much noise. Nonetheless, hoping to pick one up too soon!
Same thoughts
Same. Hopefully they fix it with upcoming updates
Looking gorgeous, great job! Hoping to get mine on monday.
I always look forward to your Pixel camera review every year! This year I can see they've improved video quality by a lot! Thanks for your review!
Thank you!
Hey Julia, do you think you'd confidently replace a Pixel 6 Pro and its ~ 105mm telephoto 4x lens with the Pixel 8 pro? :D I hesitated to jump on the Pixel 7 Pro because the telephoto lens sensor was a bit smaller
Dear SAMSUNG…
Are u watching this vid or not???
Time to Work Hard
Absolutely helpful thank you. The ultrawide looks noticeably better than my p6pro
Looking forward to when video boost comes out. The noise reduction looked a bit too strong at some points
Hey Julia. You tested the new iphone some days back too. from your perspective which one do you prefer to the overall quality more, the iphone 15 pro max or the pixel 8 pro? For both photo video and low light / good light conditions.
Thanks a lot for your review! If you had to choose iphone 15 pro max or google pixel 8 pro considering their photographic capabilities, which one would you suggest and why? That would be super interesting :)
I have a Pixel for photos and iTurd 15 Pro Max for Video
@@goatqi having both is of course nice, but not everyone can buy both phones. Have fun with yours, though. Why do you prefer the Pixel for Photos and iphone for video?
I would suggest the pixel 8 pro because ever since the pixel has come out it is always been the best phone for pictures every year and then that just got boosted when they added night sight capabilities and it's always improved from there. The astrophotography is also phenomenal because you don't need to know how to shoot Astro. All you have to do is just point and shoot and it does the rest. It's the most reliable phone for taking pictures. Meaning out of all phones that you use. You know that you're going to get a good shot when you just point and shoot. Not even being intentional with how you want the shot to look. Also, the real tone is unmatched if you've ever shot with an iPhone versus a pixel, whether you do it in camera or in another app, say, for example Snapchat. You can clearly notice the difference between someone's skin tone, especially if they have a darker complexion. Nothing comes close to the accuracy that a pixel has
@@therealzuluking thanks for explaining. I saw a test video where i kind of liked how the iphone handled the color tones. Sometimes u need to change the colors of the original so that the viewer understands how it was when looking at the picture. And in that test, the iphone did it pretty nicely. Does that kind of make sense?
@@atemkeng33 yeah
iPhone typically shoots warmer to make it more appealing to the eye, but pixel shoots to what's actually closer to true to life. That's one of the reasons why it get such high rankings when it goes through the DXO camera test
No need for a DSLR on a DSL photo shoot .....wink wink
Thank you so much for the detailed review. I realise that it takes some time to take 50MP Raw+Jpeg, but is it shutter lag or just processing time? And does it easily result in blurry images? Thank you in advance :D
Process and no blur
Is it possible to make a side by side comparison with the pixel pro 8 and the iPhone 15 pro max ? (With the same model)
That would be awesome
I'd love to see that, as well. I dislike iOS even more than I dislike Android ... but I basically only care about how good, practically, the camera is.
This was a wonderful review. Very well done. Very positive. I'm definitely thinking of upgrading from the 6 pro. Anything you haven't liked about the phone in your use of it? One thing I have found is that the night sight photos can be overly bright when compared to reality. I also use night sight for a high percentage my images even in full daylight. I do like the long exposure mode as well when shooting around water. Would love to hear your thoughts comparing it to the iPhone 15. Thanks for the terrific review.
Thank you so much! For me portrait mode is not my favourite - I prefer to add the blur afterwards if I want that look to the photos taken on the normal camera, but I usually just leave my photos as is. Night sight I personally really love how the photos turn out though! I think they are good brightness, but you can also adjust it if you think they are too bright.
I wish I had a friend who could click good pictures of me like that lol. Great review!
The portrait mode blur looks horrible tbh.
I think iPhone has the best portrait mode followed by S23 Ultra.
Google used to dominate the photography game back in the day with software optimizations.
Now, not so much.
Supposedly the tensor chips not up to the task of running all this nifty software hence her annoyance with 50mp successive shots
Great camera review exactly what I was looking for! Btw how was the battery life throughout the day taking so many pics and vids and was the phone getting hot?
This is one of those random videos I found and saw it start to end.
I got the pixel 8 pro and am still trying to learn everything since it is my first pixel phone.

Thank you Julia for moody review, for your photo wisdom. Please share originals JPG and RAW's + edited files. Want to look closer.
Can you upload some 50 megapixel 110mm portraits? (not portrait mode)
Do you have s23 ultra review??
Siempre hacen un trabajo muy bonito 👌🏻 saludos desde Colombia 👋🏻
This is honestly the most practical camera review
model looks like Angelina Jolie
I own samsung a51 and i am lookinge for a better photo-handy since i saw my daughters iphone X fotos ... cannot afford the newest/expensive ones ...
So:
Which World of handy-photo is better: iPhone or Google pixle .... honestly i would prefer staying in android-world .... should i buy for example iPhone 12 oder Pixel 6/7 ..... thanks for any advice .....
Greetings from bavaria/germany
If photos are your focus and comparing only between the Iphone 12 and the Pixel 6/7. I would not hesitate to go with the Pixel 7 Pro! Again, not the Pixel 6 but the 7 Pro because the improvement is more drastic. It takes at least an Iphone 14 to get on par with the Pixel 7 Pro overall comparison. One thing Pixel does really well in is tough lighting conditions meaning often times when the lighting is harsh or not enough, Pixel somehow just does it. Lastly, the Iphone X is not even a comparable to the Pixel 7 series because the difference is too great in Pixel having way way better pictures and low lighting condition...the Iphone X is pretty bad. This is all with the no use of "flash". Just have your subject stay still for a second or four and "night mode" selected. The Pixel 7 Pro can be easily grabbed for $500 used and if that isn't available, honestly you should just go with their more budget friendly...that doesn't mean your phone will be less capable. In fact, the Pixel 7a is brand new and will surprise you with its capability. Obviously you don't get the telephoto but don't let that deter you. I would easily recommend the Pixel 7a for anyone wanting to enjoy Google and android in its purest form.
The fact that it takes so long after clicking the shutter button to be able to press it again is extremely annoying. This is my only gripe with the pixel camera.
One review for s23 ultra
Most of the photos looks artificial and super cold which I don't like. I prefer much more collab of Xiaomi with Leica and their "authentic" profile which removes all the aritificial bullshit post-edit of current flagmans like Samsung, iPhone and Google.. :)
Make a video on iphone 15 😢
Yea, I’m taking my iPhone 15 pro back. Lots of stuff the Pixel and even Samsung have this (iPhone) just doesn’t
Really loved the night photography test. Loved the photos and the videos 📹
Juie you are so beautiful 🤩 hope pixel 8 pro is your daily driver
I was able to pay off the Pixel 8 Pro 512GB "Bay" with subscription and promotional deal for 458 euros. Extraordinary deal. I'll even pass up the OnePlus 12 and Honor Magic 6 Pro for that! Happy 😎🎉
lol at Ms pouty :-) is there a lot of delay with JPG+RAW ? and how large are the RAW files on average ? and last, is it practical to work on RAW in camera or any benefit using RAW with the AI ? prob I will never use RAW on phone, but.......
I love your reviews but would appreciate if you could also use brown/dark skinned ladies as models for the videos because I wanna see how it photographs brown and black girls. And I can't seem to come across videos that showcases this :(
I really hope you do this review for the Pixel 9. So you think it's the best phone camera?
In your honest opinion, which phone is superior camera-wise for photography, the Google Pixel 8 pro or the iPhone 14/15 pro max? I've seen so many mixed reviews and this is hands down the best videos I've watched about them. I watched your iPhone video as well! In your honest and personal opinion which would you prefer to shoot on??
OMG that Girl would make Any Bad Phone Looks Great.....Her eyes are special
This is a different review than the many others. Very nicely done.
Your review is fantastic,
Questions: when you take a selfie, does it give the dark HD, which it does with the 7pro? It goes from light to then focus to dark, and you can't switch it off; it sharpens and darkens the photo you take in the selfie mode
super gorgeous woman she is........sadly im not that rich to have such phone or such beauty.......yet... (sigh)
Women doing camera reviews: "Look how great this selfie is."
Men doing camera reviews: "Look at the detail in that stick."
I got my pixel 8 pro and so far I really enjoying it. Would you like to make a Tutorial how to use the pro section for amateurs who would like to make the best out of their pixel 8 pro phone. 😄
Great review and video!
Waiting on my at the moment. Basing on Julia's review of the Pixel 8 Pro's overall photo, I am super stoke to get mine. I have the Pixel 7 Pro and overall, I've been able to capture some amazing photos and so far the best one has to be my capture of the milky way galaxy and a dozen light photography which I am loving! I only stumbled on light photography feature when I was using the "night mode" and realize depending on how long and when light is introduce into a photo capture. I can turn that into light drawing....I really hope you got the 256gb version bare minimum because photos especially those raw 50 meg photos can take up space in a heart beat. I do video editing on the go on my phone and holy crap...I am so glad the 256gb was the one I got. I am waiting for the 512 gb version of the Pixel 8 Pro since I will be investing in more time with video (both pixel 8 and X360) and now that manual setting is introduce. I can't wait to really get going with light photography because now I get to be even more creative.
I would recommend using it the same way that you would on a camera
@@RandomCaliforniaAdventure im experimenting with it and try to find a good way to make awesome photos. I gt the 256 GB. I think that's the minimum you need today. And so far I really enjoy my pixel 8 pro !

Awesome shots! Your review is always the best. Pixel 8 pro is amazing
Can you update your android app? It's not compatible with the pixel 7 pro with android 14
I was waiting for you to post Pro. 8
you shd have waited for a couple of updates so that u get the best possible camera in pixel😅 by january update pixel 8 pro are going to get some mindblowing features
I thought the Astrophotography was pretty bad and may be even worse than previous generations... despite the supposedly better sensor due to larger aperture - or it's because smaller pixel but binned as larger so is worse? ...
the best camera google is pixel 4or 4 xl in portrait mode and video✨💪
and why portrait mode in pixel 8 pro is so plastic and clarity😣
Hii. I noticed one thing, if I goes in 5x mode and move a little back to get 75mm shot, then there is no focus on face.
Did u face the same issue?

Been watching Julia's Pixel camera reviews since the very first one she did - her reviews are the BEST, she is GOATed for sure.
Wow cutout for portrait mode in selfie mode so bad like first Gen iPhone portrait mode.

How did you afford to get Angelina Jolie?!
have you made and live music videos ? and if you did how do they sound ? thanks

Can you tell us please, which camera model does is used this videography?
the only things is that when you upload the photo in like fb or ig the quality of the photo decreases
When the photographer is 10x better looking than the model.
Pixel is better than iPhone...

I think iPhone 15 pro max is best for photography
Btw is there a contrast and white balance slider on the selfie camera?
Do you recommend the pixel 8 pro for vlogging?

how different are these phone camera compared to professional cameras u use
You have tested both phones (camera)iPhone 15 pro max and pixel 8 pro
