I’m at 86 yards a week at $236 a yard by myself. That’s 6 years of giving estimates about 10-20% higher than everyone else and expecting to get 1 out of 5. I got a college degree and worked in a suit for 15 years then quit and started my landscaping company. Now I make more money cutting grass and IM HAPPIER. I found having a minimum price is important, I set mine at $200 a month. So many of my yards take 3-8 minutes and no matter what I won’t charge less. I also charge THE SAME PRICE YEAR ROUND. I’m in Florida so it’s different but I do more work in the summer so the winters even out. As always, great video WK! Love your channel, I learn a lot from you. Also, if you’re willing to do the work and you do quality work and you communicate effectively then you can most certainly get a premium. I don’t push mow, it takes way too much time for basically the same result. However, if you are good with doing that because a client requests it then you better be charging at least 2x your regular rate or you’re not being your most efficient self. If you’re ready to work, sweat, and be stressed then you can do this and you can make a damn good living.
I’ve been cutting grass since I was 11 I’m 41 now i just invested in good equipment those push mowers come in handy sometimes they do things the zero can’t do I know mine does
I usually do between 6 to 9 houses every day, Here in Tomball TX, I usually charge 45+Tax, and the key for me is communication with the customer all the time, scheduling, been in your house anything that comes that day or before, and also I have 4 procedures that I do every time, 1 check for wasp nest a quick walk of 4 min, 2 mowing all the areas, 3 edging with the edger in the front, and use the string trimmer for everwhere else, then 4 blowing and blow the fences and ac units too, and then after get out of the house take pictures and send it to the customer and notify the finish of the job. And people 90% of the people love it. my focus is to collect as much Reviews for my google my business I can i have right now 32 5 stars reviews only. And I try to to work 5 days a week but if if rains, I work on saturdays.
Hey Will, I'm recently married and looking to take care of my family as my wife and I's jobs simply don't cut it at this point. I want to start my own business but to be honest I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should go the mowing route, the lawn care route, or both as you have. Especially considering how late in the year it is, I suppose I'm a bit nervous about being able to find enough business to even make it worth it to risk leaving my job and doing my own thing for the next few months until next year's rush. I'm currently up in Spokane, WA, but I've thought about staying with family and possibly trying to start up in Boise, ID too. If you have any advice, or perhaps even a few minutes to speak one on one, I would appreciate it a ton.
@@TheWillKelly Got it, thank you for the quick response sir. In terms of the lawn care side of things, I should probably stick to running granular until I have some good money to put into a spraying system yeah? And thanks for all the content you put out for the industry, I've spent the last 3 days or so just burning through a ton of your videos trying to gather up as much knowledge and info as I can. I'm very confident that I can be successful regardless of which market I choose, it's just been somewhat difficult trying to determine whether there's enough value to drop my job this year or not. The good thing is that my current work is as an applications tech for Senske so I have a decent bit of experience on that end already.
@slagquen make sure you check into what your area requires as far as certification to apply herbicides. If you can find someone local to shadow/mentor then you’ll learn faster and make less mistakes. Don’t forget the ‘other’ needs of each lawn i.e. shrubs, bedding, spring/fall cleanup, etc. You can make more at one residence in 1 weekend than you can make all summer at the same residence doing some of the ‘other’ things around the lawn. Good luck! Don’t give up. Best, LL
Push mowing is very physical! Our lawns are only 2000 and 3000 sq ft most of them so it makes more sense. Otherwise we’d be doing more turning than mowing
Erock , their is people that make more money with regular push mowers than with Tiger scats , SOME , the ones that actually wanna advance , So quit that bullshit comment
My size range is the same as yours pretty much, if anyone with a larger lawn hit me up I kind of overbid it. My minimum is $40 Just started end of June. 40, 40, 45, 50 are my current lawn prices. Underbid a couple of those as they ended up biweekly. About to ask about neighbors and have flyers ready, as I want 20 total yard as I do this about 2 days a week. Need to come up with business name and maybe get a Google voice number.
@@TheWillKelly the neighborhood looked familiar for I did delivery work back in 19. My wife and I are looking to move around there so I can be closer to my truck job, I’m thinking about jumping back into lawn care, I use to do it in high school and after in the N. Austin area.

That’s awesome!!
What’s the benefit of having them push mow with a 21 rather than maybe a walk 32/36 inch walk behind and cutting them faster?
Our lawns are just real small. This lawn is a bit larger than what we normally do

I would keep your current job and do both mowing and lawn care on the weekends to get things started.

Sure. But don’t use a push mower. You will go back to your original job lol. Get a more efficient piece of equipment. It’s a no BRAINER 👌

You can make a ton with just a push mower 💰

Should go with 30"
We’ve tried those before. They are pretty heavy in weight.

Hi Will, do y’all ever hire people with no experience and train or do you guys only hire people with experience?
We hire both people with and without experience!
I take it that’s in Aubrey TX?
Haha how did you know?!

12 yards a day, that’s the exact amount I’m tryna do lol
12 a day 60 a week
