I appreciate you sharing this, one of the best showcases imo. Justin Johnson is great but his honey dipper sounds totally different to everyone else’s, makes it hard to judge. Great playing here but actually a clear/realistic showcase imo. Thanks!
I got one and took some steel wool fine, steel wool to the inner resonator cavity, where the resonator sits, and I took it down to bare metal because The finish drips down into the cavity, and once I did that the treble boost I got out of the guitar was remarkable made it sound like a much more expensive Instrumental
Thank you very much for replying. But I think I didn't explain well what I was asking you. I would like to know the pitch in which the resonator is tuned. Or the tuning of the dobro strings. The video is awesome! Congratulations!!! Frederic (Barcelona, Spain) :-)
Thast sounds pretty good. Have had brass body Dobros in the past and never was quite happy with them, though they were pretty. Have had few wood bodied resos also. Great playing by the way. Anyone ever play a Messer Blues 12?
@@Lapsteelplayer Thanks for the reply! I'm new to resonators and have researched them for a while now and settled on the Honey Dipper. Have one in Transit right now!
Nice playing! I just got the wooden Alligator and I’m very happy. The warmer sound of the wooden body works better for me and seems more versatile. But the Honey Dipper has a character to it. So maybe I’ll get one as well one day :)
@@Lapsteelplayer Thank you! I'd say it's pretty darned close. Love your playing style. Been playing and in bands since I was 16, and still much to learn. Most of my slide work is in standard tuning (gigging) so it's pretty cool to see how you can phrase and where you can double stop and chord in the various open tunings. Appreciate it!
apologies for the slow reply...the $649 on the tag is Canadian as this vid was in Montreal ..in US dollars around $493.78 new..I think there more closer to $649 US dollars for a new one now..!
Really nice playing. Love the metal look of the resonator too.
Thanks so much yes the Gretsch is a nice resonator..!!

Hey there, have subbed : ) fab stuff here, as always!
Thank you Elena..!!
Yes!! Fantastic.
Mighty Nice!
Thank you..!👍
Muy bueno Senor
Don't mind people grinnin' in your face.
is it louder than a regular acoustic?
Significantly so in my experience. I have the same model. But the projection is more like a banjo than a normal acoustic
$649 price tag? ? ? Does it come with a 2nd honey dipper? These are selling used on eBay for $250-$300
Well this one isn t used
You can get the wooden Alligator model new for 400€.
I sure am not seeing these used for that low anywhere. Maybe the starting bid that low, but final values much higher.
