Thank goodness for Wonder. We'd been due for something like that since the Wii.
And yet, barely 15 minutes later literally no one is talking about nor playing it anymore 🤷♂️
@@thawhole9 As amazing as the game was... You're not wrong. The hype went away pretty damn fast, and I beat it in a weekend.
@@calvinbrinenestoris2357 it shouldn't have been a penny over $40. I'd be curious to know total sales numbers on it
@@calvinbrinenestoris2357 i think more to the point, who is going back to play it again, over and over? That's the real damning sign right there. No replay value on a 2D mario title?? Wild.
@@thawhole9 I felt like it had some good replay value, I played it twice, and I still boot up a level every once and a while.
Still could've and should've been better, though.
In the words of Scott over on Scott's stash
"DISGUSTING FAMILY, 'shows Mario Bros. Wonder' AWESOME OFFSPRING!"
Well said!
These two games… they were a New Super Mario Bros game!
While I see people’s points I still feel like each new super Mario bros game had an identity and were all good games, honestly I think the only problem with the series is how close each game came out and that nsmbU was pretty much the Wii U’s only launch title
Honestly I have a hard time separating these games. Granted they all had a "thing" y'know? Like the first one was, well, the original, the second one had multiplayer and brought back yoshi, the koopalings etc, then 2 had the whole coin thing and U had baby Yoshis, Nabbit and like one new power up. They aren't even close to being bad games but they're so ridiculously close to each other that it doesn't feel as though there's a reason to play all of them. It's even more obvious when playing Super Mario Bros 1 through 3 and even World, all four of these are so radically different compared to the "New" series
@@JubertMathias yeah i agree, they do lack some distinctions from each other at times. It’s probably because I grew up with all 4 (or 5 if you count Luigi U) but for me they are all distinct from each other
@@Henry7Madsen yeah I get what you mean! Again I think they're amazing platformers but they're just soooo similar to each other, and that's not really a bad thing until you release like six of them in like five years and it starts to feel like it's the only thing you're doing 😭😭
I have a long lull period in my Nintendo gaming between N64 and finally getting a Switch in 2022. So one of the games I wanted to try was New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe (as I obviously missed all the ones before it). And it was fun for what it was...but ultimately it didn't hold my interest, I'm not really sure why because now playing Mario Wonder it's a totally different experience...Wonder is incredible and I couldn't put it down, but New U Deluxe just kind of made me shrug my shoulders at it. So I can only imagine if you're someone who was there from the beginning and played all of them, how underwhelmed you must have felt.
How could it have been that way? It was NEW!
What I think Scott would call Junk Food Game (NSMB2) and Junk Game (NSMBU).
Thank goodness we are in the timeline where Super Mario Bros. Wonder exists and we aren't just left with the bland and uninspired New Super Mario Bros. games.
I remember back around 2012 I saw the box art for NSMBU online and thought it was fan-made and that the “U” was just another way of saying “2”
People sleep on NSMB2's Coin Rush mode, it added a ton of replayability and value to what would otherwise be the most forgettable game in the series
Wow, I just got the joke after so many years….Nabbit as in“National Australian Bank Rabbit”.
Two games in one video??? Scotts gone crazy!
New Super Mario Bros. 2 and U both have some awesome level design like the golden totem level in 2, the giant spike ball castle where it chases you in 2, those flying electric enemies in the ice level in 2, and both the final castles in 2, while U and Luigi U both have 2 Van Gogh levels each, and I also like the giant beanstalk levels plus those swinging platforms that look like popsicles in Superstar Road.
i love new soup
wait, what do you mean its expired
I like U has different overworld music than the rest of the series.
_We have to talk about BeatEmUps..._
The portable handheld version was just boring. I feel that the levels were very plain and not very challenging. Great game for a younger audience though. The replay value is also not very high, after beating it there isn't much to do.
Luv u scotty
There was some old video where a guy put a censor beep over the word "coins" from the E3 announcement.
Holy sh*t, they put money in this game! That’s just like how I spent money on 500 copies!
The games that made new Super Mario bros feel old and stale.
4:15
I always thought “New super mario bros 2” was “New super mario bros wii”. I remember being confused when it came out.
The fact that both of these games released in the same year really shows how bland and generic they turned out.
I actually liked both games
Its a shame this channel is so much smaller than your bigger channel
(You better bring back leaky steve for nintendo switch 2 rumors in 2025)
