It’s making me sad to see so many people commenting that they won’t even try this foundation after watching this review. I guess it’s POSSIBLE that everyone has the exact duplicate of Angie’s skin...but I doubt it.
I love Angie’s videos and have benefitted from her research in so many ways.
But pretty much I have liked every foundation that Angie hates, and hated every foundation she likes!
Is it because I’m contrary? No, it’s because my skin is different in every way from Angie’s!
I’m dry and on the wrinkly side, and I love this foundation! It makes my skin look gorgeous and much less lined, it also looks perfect for me my whole work day!
I work for Lancôme, and I have learned through working with many different faces and complexions over the last 36 years that there is a reason we have a gazillion different foundations...because we’re all different, with different wants and needs!

Thank you for this review. I just left Ulta with this foundation. I was ready to return it without opening but figure my skin is a few years older and drier than Angie’s so I might as well try it. Your review confirms my decision. Thanks again.

I adore Angie and totally respect her reviews, suggestions, and opinion. I have been watching her for years. However, I have found that my older, dry/sensitive, and large pore skin is different than hers and often the foundations she loves do not work on me...come to mind the IT and the Chanel. I can wear neither...and I tried. Sunscreen plays havoc, too. The best bet is to get a sample, know your skin, and give it a go. By the way...I love this foundation!

I have combination skin- oily nose and surrounding area and normal on the rest of my face. This is my favorite foundation. I use viseart powder on my oily areas. It doesn’t settle into my pores or lines. It’s best put on with a brush and don’t use too much. One pump does my face and down onto my neck a bit. It looks exactly like good skin on me.

I had the opposite experience with this foundation. I’m still combination oily/ normal at 66 and this is my new favorite foundation. It makes my skin look smoother and just the right amount of glowy if i put it on with a brush and powder my nose and cheeks.

I love your thorough reviews. I can't thank you enough for the TON of trial and effort you have saved me! But I am so sad that this one was such a fail for you. I have been liking how the Foundcealer wears on me. I am 56 with dry textured skin. I cannot do the It Cosmetics fdn, just way too drying and wrinkle-accentuating, though the luminous It Cosmetics fdn works much better. Guess this one falls in the category diff fdn for diff skin. I do love your HG Chanel fdn ...really works for me, as so many of your other product reviews have ... thank you again for all the time and attention to detail that you give every review! You are my kinda analyst!

I have combo/dry, mature skin and had an entirely different experience with this. It looks amazing on. No settling into lines and wrinkles. Not sticky and shiny but not dry or matte either. It is perfect for mature skin as it doesn’t emphasize all the imperfections that more matte foundations tend to do. Always with foundation, it is very specific to the type of skin you have. ☺️

    • @lisaw2525
      @lisaw2525 5 років тому +2

333Shari I think you make a good point that just because it didn’t work for Angie doesn’t mean it won’t work for others. I have drier skin too and find that I love things Angie hates and vice versa. For example I cannot stand the Australian sunscreen she raves about and returned it asap. I take her makeup & sunscreen recs with a huge grain of salt. I still watch and enjoy her vids though!

I am almost 54 and I like this foundation for summer. I find a little product goes a long way and I enjoyed how it looked on my skin. I got a sample from Sephora and am almost finished it and I will go buy the full size when I am done. I like it as a summer foundation. I find The iT Cosmetics CC Creme to be even dewier and it smells like lemon Pledge. I have had my tube of it forever and I am about to declutter it. Many foundations and products now have a glow to them and I will admit it has taken some time to get used to it. I honestly have not found the Tarte Foundcealer to be bad. Try a sample and see how you like it. I try to always do this before I buy. My go-to foundation right now is Clinique’s Even Better Glow Foundation. It glides on beautifully and is a nice light weight foundation for the warmer months. I certainly like a more luminous, lighter foundation in the summertime. Thanks for your review, Angie!

Hi Angie; I am 66 and have not worn foundation in years. I have lived in Florida my whole life. Thanks to your in-depth videos I have started taking better care of myself. I am trying new products and changing the way I apply eye makeup. I appreciate you unbiased and thorough testing of each product. I purchased the Tarte Shape Tape powder foundation, which I use sparingly over my moisturizer (I started using Elta MD UV Elements SPF 44). I have deep wrinkles (hereditary) so I don't expect any foundation to conceal them. I just want to diminish the dark spots from sun damage and even out the color of my skin.Thank you!!!

Just fyi for some ladies, I bought this foundation, and I wear the Tarte BB cream underneath and my skin with the Foundcealer looks amazing. I have normal to dry skin so maybe that’s the difference, but I am thrilled with the results. I also didn’t experience the product sinking into my pores/ lines. Just saying that it’s always good to try products out. And I too have the IT foundation and find the Foundcealer actually better at making my skin look younger.

It's so interesting how things work so differently on different people. The Tarte Foundcealer works beautifully for me. I'm 62 years old with normal skin that is on the dry side. I have an issue with lines and wrinkles on my forehead and around my mouth, but no issues with coloring, pores or texture. I'm still looking for my correct shade, but love the finish and the subtle glow it gives me. I find that it goes on best for me with a damp beauty sponge and blends in very nicely and easily. I don't like to use setting powder, but usually use a setting spray instead. I find that it wears beautifully all day with no need for touch ups. It's a winner for me!

I am 45 with combination skin, mainly oily, and I LOVE this foundation. I don’t have any wrinkles, yet, so I didn’t have the issue of it settling in wrinkles. I use MAC set and prime and then I apply it with a beauty sponge. I set it with powder and a setting spray. I suggest everyone get a sample (samples are FREE) of this foundation and TRY IT before you cancel it based on Angie’s experience. As she stated, everyone’s skin is different. So, just because it did not work for HER, does not mean it won’t work for YOU. 😉💖 💥THANK YOU FOR THIS REVIEW ANGIE, I LOVE ALL OF YOUR VIDEOS BECAUSE THEY ARE DETAILED AND INFORMATIVE AND YOU NEVER DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM TRYING PRODUCTS THAT DO NOT WORK FOR YOU.💥🤗

Angie, I love your foundation reviews and just think that you have the best information/links of anyone on UA-cam. I also love the way your makeup looks so flawless so I purchased the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Smooth foundation and I am beside myself. The Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet is absolutely beautiful and is the best makeup I have ever used. I am so happy with it. It makes my skin look fabulous, it covers up any red splotchy areas and the coverage is even and soft and actually doesn't even feel like I'm wearing makeup. If not for you I probably would have never tried Chanel so I thank you so much for doing all the research to bring the best products to our attention. Again, I truly love the Chanel foundation. Thank you so much. I really appreciate you.

No two people are the same. I purchased this 2 weeks ago and have worn it everyday and its better than any of the other 47 foundations in my drawer. I love it. I am 59, combo skin, large pores and texture. I've used both with brush and the Tarte sponge (which is great). I have had more compliments than with any recent foundations that I've tried. (Chanel, Estee Lauder DW, Mac, Dior or Beauty Blender Bounce) So sorry it didn't work for you.

There is no right or wrong here ... Angie has always been honest about what works for her skin and that's what I appreciate most. Even though I have diff skin types and diff products work diff on me than Angie, her reviews have saved me literally months of trial and error. For that I am forever grateful ... And also starting to recognize that certain types of luminous coverage fails for Angie's are likely to be wins for my skin! Thank you Angie for all your hard work ... Fovever grateful for you and your channel!

I wish I had seen this last week before I bought this! I have tried this foundation all the ways and with all the powders and all of the primers...and my experience has been exactly the same as yours. I put it on again for one last try today and finished the rest of my face...and washed it all off two hours later. It settled so badly into my cracks, creases and pores and transfers onto EVERYTHING. I won’t use it again. Glad it works for some people. Anyone want mine?! 😁

I have normal to dry skin and have added this foundation to my routine. The color match in this is better than my Hello Happy from Benefit (my other fav). I agree, it doesn't go on well with fingers but you can use much less with finger application and patting motion. I have used fingers, fingers and beauty blender, and just a beauty blender. Just a beauty blender has been the best application for me. If the shine is too much, using iT Bye-Bye Pores helps. A primer will extend the life, as it doesn't wear as long as Hello Happy. I do love that my skin doesn't feel tight and if is hydrating. If your skin is drier, you might enjoy this. I can't imagine anyone with oily skin would love it.

  • @Salialto

Wow - that one really was a fail! Have you ever tried airbrush foundation? I love the makeup from Tickled Pink. It's the only foundation I have found that doesn't settle into lines and accentuate texture, looks natural, doesn't get oily, doesn't flake, and stays put. And you only use a tiny amount of foundation and it looks flawless. I stopped using it for a long time (I don't know why...what was I thinking?) and tried to make other foundations work. After struggling with that, I went back to my airbrush and was reminded how fabulous it is. I use a Dinair airbrush, but the Tickled Pink makeup (Dinair's makeup is really drying). Thank you Angie for all of your excellent and informative videos. I am a huge fan!

I missed this video -- I must have been hiding under a rock when it released :) Glad I found it. I really like this foundation... I tend to like what you like so I am surprised. I use it like this... I put on my Vitamin C from Timeless, Coenzyme Q10 also from Timeless, Cerave PM, and my Elta MD sunscreen. (waited 10-15 min dry time for all products before putting on foundation). After that, I did use a tiny dab of Peter Thomas Roth Skin to Die for a primer in my t-zone and spread it out. I used a small pump (medium pea size) of the foundation dotted around my face, and use a damp beauty blender pressing it into my skin. I then use It bye bye pores to set it on my nose chin forehead area. The first few days I wore this -- it was cool outside and it lasted an easy 8hrs for me. On the warmer days with my crazy insane hot flashes, it was a bit less time because those hot flashes heating me up and melting my glasses, burning my clothes, and scorching the floor underneath me (JK, but hot flashes suck LOL ).
I always check my new foundations in the sun and it looked pretty nice. Right now I am wearing it -- it has been about 4 hrs, it is dry and no shine. It does not look patchy on me -- but I could see how it would be icky for those with dry skin because it does hold back oils nicely (on me). I have broken capillaries on my cheeks and around my nose and I think the "foundcealer" actually covers them nicely. I would sample it a few times if you have oily/normal skin :)

  • @shenalee5572

This is actually my go to foundation. But I do have VERY dry skin so maybe that’s why it work for me. It does show texture but every single foundation gives me texture because I can’t use matte foundation. Due to my dry skin. But I do like a matte finish so I use the too faced primed and poreless pressed powder just a tiny bit and it looks so much better!

This looks like an epic fail... Thank you for your time and saving me 💰. I will definitely pass on this!! I’m still using the CYO Lifeproof foundation. It has become my HG on the daily. It always works on my mature combo skin. It NEVER fails me and my makeup has to last 10+ hours and it just works for me. I know it’s hard for some people to find their shade, but I’ve purchased several different ones and as my skin darkens up I have the other shades to go to. It’s crazy that this $7 product out performs everything else I have. The only higher end foundation I’ve kept is my EL double wear as it doesn’t let me down either. I, however, appreciate the lighter formula of the CYO as it’s hot already here in Houston. Happy Friday and thx again for your time.

Shelly Cupp hi! I’m 67 with dry skin. I’m loving Flowers foundation. You can’t beat the price and it rivals any high end foundation.. I think it’s called”Light illusion “. It’s in a glass bottle. The accompanying concealer is also very good. I highly recommend them both. Hope this helps!

I had the exact same horrible results with the Tarte Foundation. I thought maybe it was my primer or one serum too many during my skin care prep but no. It sat on my skin the same way; I’m kind of relieved I wasn’t the only one because the description makes it sound like it’s going to be my perfect go-to foundation. What a waste!

I've been working through a trial size of this, and while it doesn't look too shiny on my drier skin (nor does it nourish), it is pretty thick and I only could use it with a BB. The one day I tried finger application, I regretted it! I definitely can't wear it for more than a few hours without starting to get cakeface.

Currently loving Koh Gen Do Aqua, light to medium coverage, not very shiny, feels light, no fragrance. For me, this is a great summer foundation. Although it has silicones, it doesn't have that silicon-ish feel. It's in almost no stores, so you either have to guess or order a shade sample pack to figure out your shade. Actually, I think they may carry it at the Boston Neimans and if you're in NYC, you can find it at Rescue Spa. Unfortunately, the shade offering is limited. Luckily shade 113 suits my very fair neutral to warm complexion.

Tarte is such a hit or miss brand. My skin texture is similar to yours. I like the Amazon Clay foundation a lot. It is medium to full coverage but it does not sink into my lines or give me polka dot pores and I don need to set it. It wears well all day. But every other Tarte foundation I have tried has been pretty bad.

Angie! I really wish you would test and review Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup!
I like your Holy Grail Chanel a lot. I also do really well with MUFE Mat Velvet. But this *Urban Decay Naked Skin* - it makes me look the best! It's very light, but coverage is really good. It does not maximize pores or settle in wrinkles. And my skin is really problematic. Oily history, getting quite dry now, pores on the large side, wrinkles, patches of flaky skin, and texture!
    PLEASE TRY IT, OK?!
