Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem .
Substitution equation
1) make an equation from either eq1 or eq2 ,don't forget to make y subject ( y=)
2) put y's value to either eq1 or eq2 to find x's value
3) now put x,s value to chosen equation to find y .
what if the numbers l have are not divisible by 2 for example where there is a 24-4x what if l have 11 and 7 and l have to divide by 2

I need help with this one please. [X+Y=188 and X-Y=34] I have no trouble "isolating?" X. [188-Y-Y=34] or [34+Y+Y=188]. My trouble is "isolating?" Y. I either get [Y=188-X], which, when substituted in the other equation gives me [X-188-X=34], which gives me [-188=34] or if I try [Y= -34 + X], I get [X - 34 - X = 188]. HOW do I isolate Y?

Good question! It does not matter which method you use, they will give you the same answer. However, some people find one method easier than the other, and also, some questions are more suited to one method than the other, so it is helpful to know both, especially if you want to be really good :)

Good question! You can use either one they both will work, so just do whichever one you find easier for that question.
