- My zero turn mower muffler bolts vibrated until they stripped out So I looked online and found a replacement muffler from 86.00 to 89.00 call the local shop and they priced it at 129.00
So the video will show you how I fixed it for about 2.00 and about a 1/2 hour please watch and comments are always welcome
Mine fell off Friday, going to give this a shot. Thanks for posting.
Hopefully it works for you
Enjoyed your video. I just replaced the muffler on my husqvarna rz5424 yesterday along with changing the oil, oil filter, fuel filter and spark plug. I had purchased everything from husqvarna because my local Lowe's didn't have it. I also ordered new exhaust pipes but decided to use the old ones. I had been cutting grass one evening for a couple of hours and after parking the mower went inside the house. About 4 or 5 hours later I happened to look outside and my property was on fire 🔥. The muffler caught the grass on fire 🔥 and it was not only burning my land but had crossed over to the neighbors land. Between my land and the neighbors it was probably 4 or 5 acres burning 🔥. The forest service and the fire 🔥 department showed up and got it under control. I was very lucky that the fire went the direction it did or else my house 🏠 would have caught on fire. Sorry for the long story.
Same problem I was having. Thanks for the video!
Thanks. This approach just saved me tons on trying to fix a broken muffler on my old tractor. Thank you!
Hey thank you, I just didn't think about this problem, great solution. Mine just blew off on Friday. You are correct these mufflers are very expensive. I'd tried drilling and tapping that didn't work. I wasted my time. Thank you again. Roy
That’s the reason I did the video I’m always trying to do stuff on the Cheap hahahaha
I’m glad it helped
Good fix saved lots of money
Great video. Straight forward. What I find interesting is the pipes are NOT welded to the muffler like other models. So I assume the muffler has to be pretty snug to do it's job (reduce noise). My muffler has been noisy for 5+ years and yesterday it finally fell off. What helped about your video is that you confirmed the pipes are NOT welded. BTW, the video is very narrow; using your phone? Turn it sideways next time to get a wider view. THANKS again for sharing.
Yes the pipes just push into the muffler and the bolts hold it in place Sorry about the video quality I’m trying to get better as I go thanks for watching
Thank you, saved me money
Brilliant idea! Got to get some of those just because! Thanks
Yeah I’ve used them for all kinds of repairs Thanks for Watching l
Where do you go to purchase? I need as well
I used 5/16" self drilling self tapping hex head screws to reattach mine a few years ago. It just fell off again tonight.
So far so good for mine almost 100 hours of running and still going
Thanks for watching
Thanks great way to fix
Glad it helped
for those of us that can't weld, consider Nutserts like a pop rivet but threaded inside.
thats a great idea nice job !!!
Thanks
THANK YOU, GREAT JOB! Wish you were near by+++++
Love the idea. Our cub cadet has that exact muffler. Replaced it 2 yrs ago and it fell off this week, holes egged out again. Can't find any furniture sockets like you used for less than $6 ea. Still looking though. Thanks.
Give me an address I’ll mail you a few
@@rojunk hey i was think the same thing. I can’t find those furniture screws
Interesting video. I have a Craftsman riding lawn tractor that is new. (10 hrs) It is excessively noisy from the factory. I need to look at my muffler setup. I have a feeling that I have excessive clearance between the exhaust pipe and the muffler.
That's probably the problem mine was so loud it drove me crazy
Those are called a Brad Nut, $0.99 at my local hardware store.
Never knew what they were called thanks
is there 2 gaskets ??
I have the exact same mower with the exact same problem. I ended up spending $100 for a new mower but it barely stayed on. I have a Mig Welder and might just weld the muffler on.
I’ve since sold that mower but last time I talked to him it was still working thanks for watching
I have the same mowwr and my problem is the pipe off the right side is missing. Does the pipe just feed into the muffler or does it need welded on?
No it just pushes on and the muffler bolts tight to it
@@rojunk thank you. I subscribed to your channel I just started my own channel. Thanks again
You might want to look up a rivet nut tool, it’s designed to install threaded fasteners, commonly used in automotive applications and basically the same thing without welding
Yes I have those but there aluminum and wasn’t sure if they could hold up
Thanks
I'm not cheap.... I'm frugal !
That shit still pretty loud!
You need better lighting on your face.
Those mufflers are 30.00 online with free shipping - I just bought one! It is stupid to spend so much time "repairing" a worn out rusted out muffler!
Wrong for some people. There's satisfaction in doing the repair yourself. More than you get simply throwing on a new part.
