This show is literally an “FU” to the judges that screwed over broken arrow in the 2012-2013 season. That’s it. No real actual reason for it other than that. Just to be petty. Sources: was in this show, am from broken arrow
Look. I'm a former percussionist from BAHS (Class of '94) and while I really only pay close attention to the drumline, I have to say....The BRASS in this performance was AMAZING! I mean, nearly DCI-esque!
No idea if you’ll see this 7 years later but the mellos actually had the 16th note runs at 3:29 for the first 2 weeks but it was really muddy so it got transferred to the woodwinds lol
This Band and the one out of Florida (Tarpon springs?) Are by far the best of the "Theatrical" production bands in all of BOA. They always put on a great stage show. These kids could do Theater in the off-season for sure.
Yes, Tarpon Springs. They love props and use them very well -- always very entertaining!! Check out Tarpon's winter guard shows if you haven't already. They're great!
I loved playing it so much, was a first mello that year, the soaring countermelody is only 8 people out of the entire brass section, director told us that we specifically needed to let loose on it, glad that it has the intended effect lol The bit at 7:32 where it’s a sustained tone and only a few are moving is JUST 8 mellos, I still can’t believe we made that much of a difference 😂
I've been waiting for this for so long 😭😭 I've been watching/listening to their sendoff performance for months now, but this Grand Nats performance is just amazing!!! So regret not doing band in hs 😅
Nick Niehaus I'm biased, but I agree, especially because Tarpon didn't have their best run. Tarpon still had a great show, though! Always love their winds so much.
Marian Catholic played Broken Arrows 2014 opener "pines of Rome" in 1998, which was BA's first year at BOA GN Finals. Marian got 4th overall and won best music, edging out Lassiter. BA finished 11th in finals. A little BOA history for you.
Yes! And many DCI groups played Pines of Rome prior to fall 98, most notably The Cavies, Star of Indiana and PR. Great music! Greg Bimm is a master of his craft. Love his creations at Marian.
3:17, rough transition into the next show segment, minus x amount of ge and thus, the title. I’ll be back in about 8 years to to confirm this claim after I get around to watch the tarpons production from that year. I have far better shit to accomplish at the moment right before retiring.
This is an amazing show. However, I still do find it a little creepy with the guard at one point being tongues. None the less, still a favorite of mine.
Is that female guard member at the very end who takes off the mask after crawling up the drum major box the same guard member who played the character of the Lion wearing the long cape in Broken Arrow's 2010. ZO show (Wizard of Oz) ? Or at least related to her because both girls look a lot alike
Titled “FaceME” including Pines of Rome, Danse Macabre, Adagio from Spartacus, Jesus Christ Superstar, and maybe a couple others I can’t think of at the moment.
This show is about the negative depiction of Mary Magdelene by domineering Middle Eastern men who wrote the bible. El Greco's painting was the first to depict her as evolved and self-actualized, not subservient and tainted.
There was only one 91 star of Indiana and one phantom regiment, these kids were pretty good but 91 star of Indiana members were beasts, these kid's and most boa band kid's would not be able to handle the physical demands of a program like 91 star but this was pretty good.
Yeah, well these are 14-(maybe)18 year olds, not 18-21 year olds. There is some limitations simply due to physical maturity. Doesn’t take anything away from any of these BOA groups. They are all rockstars who pour everything into these performances and their fellow performers.
I'm so happy I got to march in this show. Was really fun and my first experience at nationals.
TΛPPS hey if this was your first show that means your still in pride!
I'm an alumni now haha. I was saying this was my first Grand Nats
TVPPS what's the fair share at broken arrow?
Frost 101 ??
This is my favorite high school show ever.
The brass is as good if not better than Avon’s 2009 brass.
What's the show about?
@@robertgraves4844 I marched in it and I really can't give you a solid answer lmao

@@morganprice7399 same. It's Joe Tapper from the mello line XD

Still keeping it up this year too

That ending feature is amazing. Absolutely gorgeous playing
That brass feature could wake the dead
@Dallas Hobbs ooof yes sir

6:58 the brass feature gives me chills
Getting Phantom Regiment vibes

I love how they had Danse Macabre into marching band music and I LOVE THAT CLASSICAL PIECE!!!!
😊9😅😅😊 4:44 4:53 😅😅😅1😅
I've been waiting for this for so long 😭😭 I've been watching/listening to their sendoff performance for months now, but this Grand Nats performance is just amazing!!! So regret not doing band in hs 😅
I still can't comprehend how this didn't win
Nick Niehaus I'm biased, but I agree, especially because Tarpon didn't have their best run. Tarpon still had a great show, though! Always love their winds so much.
R Henderson oh I know I heard them during us warmup for finals
Im sorry but tarpon had a great run and a great show
ya they did their opening hit sequence... o my...goosebumps
Rotary WC13 don’t be sorry, we heard tarpon in warmups and I knew one of their guard girls. Their show was amazing.

Favorite show ever.
Sometimes I wander what these shows are like being played at halftime

Adagio from Spartacus is actually the most beautiful piece ever made.
0:43 My prop is on the 20 yard line
What’s the song at 7:40 after the ballad? It’s so good.
my favorite BA show
If you could somehow upload 2013 from Atlanta, you would be my hero.
Sorry, I only have audio of this one, but I'll post it shortly. Subscribe or check back soon. :-)
This is an amazing show. However, I still do find it a little creepy with the guard at one point being tongues. None the less, still a favorite of mine.
If I'm interpreting correctly, the tongues represent rumors and word of mouth.
TrasherDaytonBand honestly it’s just about how you interpret it
Does anyone know what songs these are? Especially the one at 8:07
Abhay Satyajit Symphony no. 3 By Camille Saint-Saëns (finale, basically the last five minutes of the piece)
You know, Broken Arrow have been to finals every single regional, and I see why. You all look like you work so hard.
Is that female guard member at the very end who takes off the mask after crawling up the drum major box the same guard member who played the character of the Lion wearing the long cape in Broken Arrow's 2010. ZO show (Wizard of Oz) ? Or at least related to her because both girls look a lot alike
Not the same girl. Not sure if they’re related.
does anyone know the repertoire of this show?
Titled “FaceME” including Pines of Rome, Danse Macabre, Adagio from Spartacus, Jesus Christ Superstar, and maybe a couple others I can’t think of at the moment.
I am in broken arrow about to go the the right school it is so nice
Where are the trombones?
I believe only baritones that year.
Broken arrow never marches trombones
What’s the source music for the end of the closer
“The Crucifiction” from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Jesus Christ Superstar.
What is the very last song the performed
Nikolas Barnett it is the track “The Crucifiction” from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Jesus Christ Superstar. ua-cam.com/video/eMznhHCSRkg/v-deo.html
can someone explain this show to me? it's an amazing show but i just don't get it lol
It is said to be about the story of Mary Magdalene, but no outsider truly knows.
it’s for you to interpret but yes basically about mary magdalene
Jacob Wilkins only a certain group of the guard were called “maggie’s”... the ones that came out of the mouths
This show is about the negative depiction of Mary Magdelene by domineering Middle Eastern men who wrote the bible. El Greco's painting was the first to depict her as evolved and self-actualized, not subservient and tainted.
@Dallas Hobbs He couldn’t lmao.
We had the same balled this year in our show but ours sucked. Unlike theirs
Wow.
We played adagio too this year for our show too. Ur we didn’t sound this good. My school is ridge point ha btw if u wanna cringe
