Honestly I could watch this over and over again for the rest of my life. This is the best marching show I've ever seen. Even better than Age of Discovery imo. I saw this live at the STL Superregionals. I aspire to be just like them.
Marching technique was absolutely beaten into us constantly. It was very important to Mr Davis and all of the staff that we all made a conscious effort to maintain good technique regardless of whatever other physical demands were made of us during the show.
I was lucky enough to see these kids perform their show at the Broken Arrow stadium before going to Nationals. I'm from Iowa and my daughter-in-law asked me if I'd like to go and I thought why not? I was in marching band in the 70's, my son in the 2000's, both of us trumpet players, and nearly a year later, I can listen to these kids and get goosebumps as much as I did at the stadium. That crescendo at roughly 8:00 and that final crescendo at the end with all of that brass just makes my heart beat faster. I hope I'm in Broken Arrow this year if they put on a show before nationals. The talent here is amazing!
Anyone who says Avon's show was harder is just plain wrong. Honestly they were about even. Look at Broken Arrow's closer, for example. Super hard music. And this show was designed so well. AND I can say that, as someone who was in the audience during finals, Broken Arrow REALLY brought the energy in their finals performance. I didn't have them winning going into finals, but after watching that performance, they just really brought it and I KNEW they were going to win.
Thanks for that! I remember coming off of finals feeling so pumped. Practically yelling after the final release. It was a great performance and afterwards we all met up and we all agreed the no matter what the outcome in finals awards, we reached our goal, which was a fantastic finals performance that we'll never forget.
I dislocated my knee between semis and finals during stretch, and with some help from the directors still marched on a lot of pain meds and a brace, even on all that one of the most painful things I've ever done, definitely worth it though, no regrets except dislocating it in the first place.
I'm in that frame and I remember that! I heard a snapping sound behind me and after we all turned around to exit the field I noticed his drums. He got a little too into the performance haha
+tikala1 he said that something with the carrier had been broken all season and he had it ghetto rigged and it gave out at just the right moment. He told me they had a replacement the percussion director just forgot about it until he saw that.
Watched this show at the send off in Broken Arrow before the went to Nationals, after they finished I looked right at the director as he was coming down the stadium stairs and said “that’s ring number 3”
Brandon Hall hope I’m not too late but I am 98% sure it’s festive overture by Dmitri Shostakovich; however, I marched this like 4 years ago and have slept quite a bit since then.
I don't think they're really comparable with all the different rules and whatnot. Not to mention corps are often made up of plenty of BOA kids, and also able to really weed out whoever they want. A luxury high schools don't really have.
the only thing that confuses me is why the snares are playing matched grip, but it still an absolutely incredible show its hard to believe these are high schoolers honestly
Nope, BA won in prelims and finals. Hebron won semi-finals. Regardless, Hebron is an outstanding program and definitely deserved that music caption if not 1st overall. It was a joy watching them!
and every year, per usual. i’m glad we’ve been able to see them perform at our invitationals, seeing as our band doesn’t get to march with them at state
Great execution but the actual planning of the show is cluttered and dirty. The Unit as an entirety is wonderful. just needed less players and chairs to enjoy it fully. Great Unit though.
+Toksik Productions I know. I'm only saying that I don't see how this could remotely even top Avon. Avon had much harder rhythms, and they played them very well. Their visual was very professional. They just had a better performance, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, you guys were awesome too. Better than my band could ever be. But I just enjoyed their show more.
+why me I actually agree with Brian. And its not that you guys didn't work hard, it's more we feel Avon had a better show design and preformed it better. Not a jab at anyone in BA

Honestly same
This might just be me, but it's crazy how good their form is, marching wise. They all look so great, like they've been marching for years.
BA definitely has the best marching technique from any high school I’ve seen

Anyone know what the sax quartet was?
It's Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2
I dislocated my knee between semis and finals during stretch, and with some help from the directors still marched on a lot of pain meds and a brace, even on all that one of the most painful things I've ever done, definitely worth it though, no regrets except dislocating it in the first place.
Knight Solaire way to grind
13:03...kind of reminds me of when that snare popped off the Carolina Crowns snare players carrier. What luck it was at the end of the show...
I'm in that frame and I remember that! I heard a snapping sound behind me and after we all turned around to exit the field I noticed his drums. He got a little too into the performance haha
That's one of my best friends and trust me, I gave him hell for that.
+Cody Evans What happened to his carrier? It's fine for the hits and then it kinda just falls.
+tikala1 I'm not exactly sure. I don't even think he knows honestly.
+tikala1 he said that something with the carrier had been broken all season and he had it ghetto rigged and it gave out at just the right moment. He told me they had a replacement the percussion director just forgot about it until he saw that.
This is amazing. I especially enjoyed the first song (Shostakovich's Festive Overture). Sad to hear they're not coming to Indianapolis this year :(

Thanks for the props!- Lockport Township High School Marching Porters
I will never forget the honor of seeing this in person, goosebumps
Thanks, Dick Huge... :D
Yes, you guys are right, it was semifinals, not prelims that Hebron won. Sorry about that. Congrats to Broken Arrow for the win!
Their uniforms fit them perfectly.
"Wild Blue Orchid"
Well then, I can cross that name off my bucket list.
Going against this band in 2017 Bands of America competition in St. Louis...!
Hannah Leggett Good luck!!!
Thanks😁
You lost :(
The Leander Band is humbled to be competing with them this year.
Leander won't be competing with them this year. BA's only 2016 BOA show is STL.
BoneBrosParkour AND FreeFlowDanceCrew Leander's show was lit -Jenks Band Member
Our band is great
I marched this show. Bass 5
I played the clarinet as a sophomore in this
What’s the opener fanfare called
Brandon Hall hope I’m not too late but I am 98% sure it’s festive overture by Dmitri Shostakovich; however, I marched this like 4 years ago and have slept quite a bit since then.
Lol I’m from Bentonville, we played the same waltz. Y’all absolutely KILLED it
Was that a bit of Waltz no.2 I heard?
Damn I didn't know I was watching dci
Matt Wilson this is nothing close to DCI
I don't think they're really comparable with all the different rules and whatnot. Not to mention corps are often made up of plenty of BOA kids, and also able to really weed out whoever they want. A luxury high schools don't really have.
@Micah Lall-Trail oops ua-cam.com/video/FUWL3H2QF4E/v-deo.html
The only time I’ve felt like I was watching a high school be a drum Corp was Hebron 2018-2019. That hornline is fantastic wow
@@troyharkcom6441 I second this
the only thing that confuses me is why the snares are playing matched grip, but it still an absolutely incredible show
its hard to believe these are high schoolers honestly
If you're not tilting your snares, there's no real reason to play traditional grip
After seeing this i got alot to work to do to beat them in boa #grmn
That's a different announcer!!! What happened to the other guy!?!
this was from prelims (i marched this show so i can tell lol)
Broken Arrow beat Hebron in prelims it was semi finals that Hebron won first place. BA was first in prelims & finals.
Hebron beat Broken Arrow in prelims (and everyone else, finishing first), but the video is apparently not available.
In fact, Hebron's 2015 prelim performance was the highest scored performance in BOA history, but I guess we'll have to settle for watching this.
Nope, BA won in prelims and finals. Hebron won semi-finals. Regardless, Hebron is an outstanding program and definitely deserved that music caption if not 1st overall. It was a joy watching them!
You are correct. Sorry. Congrats to Broken Arrow for The overall win!
Just wondering, what is title of the pieces played in the opener and in the closer?
Matched grip tho
Bruh, at 5:45, I counted like 4 people fall in the rotating rectangles
YOO I SAW THAT TOO GOD DAMN
Where, I can't find them falling.
Edit: Never mind. That was a catastrophe.
Thankfully this was only their prelims performance
This deserved to win. Hands down. I love Avon but “Black Gold” doesn’t even touch this.
This did win
musichog1 I know. That’s why I said they deserved it.
There are some people who can do this. I am not one of those people
Easily the finest high school show ever. This rivals DCI finalists.
Do you have a copy of finals?
Get ready Pride Tapon Springs is coming in hot this year. ;)
I'm pretty sure they aren't going to grand nats this year
Yeah, we're not going to Grand Nationals this year, sorry to disappoint
+duck zoom well that's sad
Yeah, it really sucks
+duck zoom are you still going to St. Louis?
Mustang high school is killing it this year
As a Guthrie Bass Clarinet seeing Mustang march makes me cry.
λιεnδαгκ12 why
I agree but ba has Saturday in the bag
the go karts made me laugh because what even
and every year, per usual. i’m glad we’ve been able to see them perform at our invitationals, seeing as our band doesn’t get to march with them at state
They sound like a drum corps
your name
Snares matched grip... Smh
Most Oklahoma schools used matched grip, I might have seen one school at state finals using traditional
+condormovies Owasso, Bixby use traditional.
+R Henderson I didn't know about Owasso because they didnmt go to OBA, but Bixby and maybe Westmoore were the only ones I saw not using matched
+R Henderson so does Union
Great execution but the actual planning of the show is cluttered and dirty. The Unit as an entirety is wonderful. just needed less players and chairs to enjoy it fully. Great Unit though.
Really Shostakovich?!! Who can compare with your precision of Russian music.
Wouldnt be surprised if this band was going to DCI
GoGurt Gang
Sebastian Gutierrez LETS GET THIS GOGURT
Golden Regiment is better
Captain John Luke Picard Of The USS Enterprise yep
Captain John Luke Picard Of The USS Enterprise you're funny
couldve used some screamers
So undeserving tbh. Avon should've won. I'm no judge, but they look and sound better. Kk bye
This is our prelims run. Finals run was so much better
But I just enjoyed their show more.
we definitely don't have feelings and totally didn't deserve this after working countless hours lol. doesn't hurt at all. :)
+why me wasn't trying to make it hurt. Avon was just more deserving. Just saying
+why me I actually agree with Brian. And its not that you guys didn't work hard, it's more we feel Avon had a better show design and preformed it better. Not a jab at anyone in BA
