I am 68 years old and have been listening to Stevie ray vaughan forever and one of my favorites is life without you 9/21/1985 capitol theater please play it ❤❤❤
This guy was fire... Eric Clapton heard him on the radio while he was driving and said he could think of nothing else until he found out who he was. Later on, Clapton said he was afraid to go on stage with SRV because he wasn't sure he could keep up. The guy makes non-musicians want to play guitar and makes guitarists think about giving it up. What makes it even more crazy is that he played crazy-heavy gauge strings, usually 13s. Watching him bend those heavy strings up towards the nut makes my hands ache. Texas Flood is an amazing album and well worth the price to get.
I've seen this a hundred times, and still can't get over the greatness of it. His talent is surely a gift from God, as he didn't read music and it all came from his soul. Thank you Stevie Ray for your contribution to the world!!!!❤❤❤❤
Many people get lost on how good he was at guitar, and never really grasp just how good a blues vocalist he was. It does my heart a world of good to hear you take a moment to credit him for that. Keep up wit your great reactions Bro....
Recommendations: Tin Pan Ally - gritty/swampy blues Riviera Paradise - jazz/blues instrumental Couldn’t Stand the Weather - rock Soundcheck - yes, his actual soundcheck
Great reaction! A clinic in blues is SRV with Johnny Copeland, Tin Pan Alley - will knock your socks off! I also highly recommend Life Without You live at The Capital Theater - Stevie speaks a message directly to the crowd, plays behind his back, with his teeth - losing a tooth in the process, and does a guitar swap at the beginning. Charlie Wirtz was SRV's friend who made guitars, (& Stevie's guitar Charlie) & he passed suddenly. SRV wrote this song for him. Its a show stopper. ❤ Thanks as always, I love your reactions!
Yes! The performance of Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland, Live at the Mantreaux is my favorite live performance of all time! Lots of whiskey consumed to that one!!
The most amazing thing to me, is the fact that music and musicians we were fans of many years ago, are still being enjoyed and raved about by younger generations. I enjoy watching young folks have the same spontaneous emotion and gut reaction to iconic music artists from way back. Thank You Anthony Ray.
(Life Without You - 9/21/1985 - Capitol Theatre), ( Mary Had A Little Lamb (Live)), (Voodoo Child - Live In Nashville) and (Steve Ray Vaughan - Best Guitar Player - Sound Check - What?!)
Life without you live at the Capitol in addition to the guitar mastery he gives a little talk/insight into himself. Man was spreading love & life lessons. Never going to be another one like him. Beautiful in every way…
🔥🔥🎼🎶🎼🔥🔥 .. this the cream of the crop for Blues music.. Stevie is my favorite guitarist without question .... and I like many. Try "Lenny" .... which he wrote for his lovely girlfriend. Love this !!
Thanks for your reaction! "Crossfire", "Pride And Joy", and "Look At Little Sister" are fun, popular songs that he did. He was amazing in his live shows!
And he did this night in and night out all over the place for hours and hours...played hardly every the same way twice..it just flowed right out of him 🐐 GOAT
One of the best guitarists to ever grace this planet.I saw him in the bay area, not knowing that it was going to be the last time anybody would see him.I was sooo grief-stricken,but also so glad I decided to go!R.I.P.😢
Life without you ! Capitol theater NJ 1985 ,pay close attention to the early guitar swap or you will miss it . Also him breaking his tooth picking . Hands down one of the greatest performances ever ! ✌&❤ SRV 🐐of 🎸
SRV was a gift from the Music Gods. His albums were played constantly in my apartment when they came out. Day and night , but his live shows- Oh Man they were thrilling, hundreds of us under his spell, when he played soft no one spoke a word. Seeing him live was out of body experience. Thanks for the music Stevie ❤RIP
I was living in Austin, Texas in the ‘80s, where he was also living, and got to see him and his brother play many times. His brother Jimmie is 4 years older, and I’d seen him play before I’d ever heard of Stevie. There’s a show from Nashville where Stevie plays “Voodoo Child” behind his back. Everything from El Mocambo is good. I like some of those old early songs. “Testify” is a showcase, “Mary Had a Little Lamb” is essential, and “Little Wing” live might be the greatest thing he ever did. Thanks!
I Enjoyed your reaction, it's nice to see people discover SRV, I Hope you will continue to see how far the Stevie Ray rabbit hole goes, I'm sure you are going to enjoy the journey, God Bless.
I saw the 2 NJ shows of that tour May of 1988…felt bad for Plant having to come out after and I enjoy Plant. I have seen him when he was wasted and sober. Phenomenal either way. Never the same solo.
The Goat❤ Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland,I have loved him for a long time,I think it's one of his best performances with another Goat Johnny Copeland ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
He is the best his playing is so good and so natural and so much feeling in his playing with very thick strings! He is the guitar it looks like he received it from above like an antenna! he is be missed R.I.P
Life without you live at capital theatre, will blow your hair back. The guitar playing is next level and there is a message in the song the applies to even to todays social climate.
My first time to your channel. I stopped because it was Stevie and had to watch you get baptized in hisTexas Flood waters. You'd never know it by watching his monster performances, but Stevie had a heart as pure as his blues and was as humble as it gets. He said that his talent was a gift from God that he worked hard to pay back. Paid in Full, Stevie. Paid In Full. Enjoy the journey. 🎸🎸🎸
You want to check out something swesome....the video of Stevie and his older brother Jimmy (of The Fabulous Thunderbirds) playing the 1960's instrumental PIPELINE at the same time.... on the same dual-neck guitar. 😁 Epic.
SRV was one of a kind. He is the only guitarist I know of that made legendary guitarists like Eric Clapton cringe when they had to follow him on stage. It's like he plugged the guitar into his soul...When you saw Voodoo Chile with Black Pegasus, I knew it was only a matter of time. Thanks for the reaction and the respect to SRV. If you want other guitarists to check out look at David Gilmour (Comfortably Numb from the 1994 Pulse Concert), Peter Frampton (Do You Feel Like I Do), Prince (Super Bowl Halftime or Rock N Roll Hall of Fame performance), Slash (Sweet Child O Mine, Paradise City, or November Rain), and Joe Satriani (Mystical Potatohead Groove Thing, Surfing With The Alien, Flying In A Blue Dream). There are so many amazing guitarists but this is a good start...
Yeah🎸🎶💙‼️Anthony Ray plays Stevie Ray🎊🎉🙌👏. Watched you with Black Pegasus and enjoyed watching you fall down this most wonderful rabbit hole🐇🐇🐇! This will keep you going for sure! You can't find a more passionate and committed musician anywhere else. And yes that guitar of his! It is known as #1 also his first wife. When asked why he refers to it that way, he said because she screams for me not at me😉🎶🎸🎶. He has many different guitars for different songs and sounds but this is the one that "just feels right". To sample a wide variety of his skill sets recommending some more down and dirty blues - Tin Pan Alley at the Montreux Jazz Festival 1985. It features another Texas blues man and friend Johnny Copeland. Also a Stevie original Life Without You from the Capitol Theatre 1985 composed for a dear friend's sudden passing. And my personal favorite another original Riveria Paradise from Austin City Limits 1989 created after his own rehab and recovery dedicated to all those still suffering in any way. Soothing balm for your soul that feels like a warm golden hug from from this man's soul.⭐️🌟✨. Subbing for more Stevie Ray‼️🎸🎶💙
I really agree with the suggestions already listed, but since you enjoyed the blues, the beginning of the Montreux 1982 concert, during which the band was booed, are two very great SRV twangy songs that I think you might enjoy-Hideaway/Rude Mood is how it’s listed. I think he received a Grammy for Rude Mood, too.
Growing up in Texas with Stevie Ray Vaughan, getting to see the man live in both Houston and Austin it was always too much to explain to some people how incredible he was. As the UA-cam reacters went crazy a few years ago they were amazed at what the man could do to a guitar. My opinion was of course, there was no better Blues player at the time and it's doubtful there will be another in my lifetime. The oddest way to think about it is that no matter what stage you see SRV tearing it up on, it was just another show for him. He did this every single time he took the stage, right along with one of the best bands every to keep a tight line for a fantastic bluesman.
Brother Anthony. You just witnessed greatness. SRV is probably the greatest guitarist (definitely gratest blues guitarist) to walk the earth. Great reaction as usual. Peace... ✌
The story goes, Stevie used to borrow guitars from a guitar store in Dallas (because that's how good everyone knew he was) After trying out a few the day he tried this old beat up 63' strat. Many had tried it, but no one could keep it in tune. He borrowed it, and he never took it back. It was also known that Stevie had powerful hands, and much of his sound came from his hands. His guitar was an extension of his soul. This was shot in 83'.
SO GLAD YOU’RE DISCOVERING SRV! I was a freshman in college when PRIDE AND JOY hit the airwaves and blew everyone’s minds. NO ONE had ever heard playing like this. And that sexy voice was 🔥. He played Southern Cal several times in the ‘80s and I rarely missed it. I saw him at the Pacific Amphitheater in ‘86 with Santana opening for him. They jammed together at the end for an encore. Phenomenal. When he tragically died in a chopper crash leaving a concert venue, I knew on that day that you have to see the musicians you love whenever you have the chance. Do it. Don’t miss the artists you love ‘cause you never know when the show is over.
Great reaction!! SRV ALWAYS gave 150% in every performance Another one to check out is “Ain’t gone’n’ give up on love” 3/25/87. There are several versions of this particular song on UA-cam but the one on 3/25/87 is in my opinion the best because it has the most extended guitar work of all of the others. Don’t get me wrong they are all great but this one just has a lot extra. Also, his version of voodoo Child live in Tokyo is unbelievable. Glad you’re going down the SRV road you won’t regret it. PS I subscribed to your channel.
I saw SRV 3X. 2 times were mind blowing but 1X he was so fucked up it was awful… actually walked out after 1 1/2 hours when he started fucking his amp. So no he didn’t give 150% always.
Love seeing the magic of Stevie as mezzmorizes people with his Guitar!!! And when he puts behind d his back people really freak out! Priceless!!! He's the GOAT 🐐!
I love watching people react to Stevie. I really love when they react to this video. And I really really love to see their reaction when Stevie throws the guitar behind his back and plays lol. SRV = THE G.O.A.T.
I just got finished watching 14 yr old guitar phenom Taj Farrant doing a 2 hour SRV tribute in Texas. I love the respect and my God how amazingly he played and sang this song. We have our memories of the great SRV. He was just incredible! I love seeing a kid with the heart and skills coming up in the music world and blowing people away! The future is fantastic for the blues!
Pure Texas sound! I’m was bred and born in Texas and this is the music I grew up on. You are from Belgium! I had the opportunity to live there and enjoyed it very much. I lived in Mortsel.😉
He's the baby brother of another Texas legend. Jimmie Vaughn and The Fabulous Thunderbirds. A number of videos out there of the playing together. Another great Texas Blues Legend Johnny Winter is worth checking out.
Just can't get enough of these reactions...the perplexed looks of amazement...sometimes terror...and then the joy and smiles... "This dude...yo..." indeed. And you've discovered the "power trio". Take a deep dive into Cream and James Gang, but you won't find anything like this video...still good tho'... But wait, there's more..."..how did he do that?..you had me the first 6 minutes...he's flexing on every body...I'm done..." yes, yes you are, first time? SRV, Texas Flood, at El Mocambo is the greatest live electric blues performance recorded on video ever.
Dude. I sent you a request for SRV “Life Without You”, live at Capitol Theater. You will love it. You should also check out Joe Bonamassa live at the Greek Theater. He’s one of the best around. ✌🏻❤️from Texas
@@AnthonyRay “Look at Little Sister” Live from Austin City Limits is another noteworthy performance he left us with. It’s the fastest guitar switch in history due to a broken string and he never misses a beat. Also, I mentioned Joe Bonamassa. He’s def worth your time. Start with “I’ll Play the Blues for you” and “Going Down”, Live at the Greek. Take your pick from there. He could play the phone book and fill a stadium doing it. Reese Wynans now plays keys for Joe, but used to play for SRV.✌🏻
@@jamesskelton2988 Howdy from Texas! Joe’s got just about one of the best live blues bands out there. His performance at The Greek is one of my faves. When I’m tired of them damn kids, I get in my Mustang and drive all over Texas listening to it. It’s most def some good driving music! ✌🏻🎸and blues!
SRV wasn't a guitarist, he was a channel in which music flowed freely, he just transposed the vibes he was receiving. What an amazing artist, after the show, it's his guitar that needed a cigarette!
Great reaction! Little Wing from same concert, The El Mocambo is a great one he plays beautifully! Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland shows a more gritty side of SRV's voice, Life Without You at The Capital these are absolute reactions you must do, All of his performances are a must see and react to, you will enjoy them!!
And now you know why many of us believe him to be the G.O.A.T. He almost never looks at the guitar because he knows every inch of it by feel. He doesn't need to see it while he's playing. Your reactions were great man. I greatly enjoy it. As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
I was. lucky enough to see him live on his last tour...it was mesmerizing. After the show my buddy and I sat there after the show in silence, well aware of the magic we had just witnessed. Glad you're enjoyed it!
Anthony, I’m so into yours and Black’s discovery! There are hundreds of live performances that you Must See! Actually, it could be thousands because, SRV never played one song the same. And, his songs always had a purpose and meaning. Highly Recommend : Life Without You…..because, we are now living life without Stevie.
What you said about with the first minute, first 5 seconds got my attention cause I always explained to my daughters from way back is that a song has to grab me within first 3 notes! Stevie had us hypnotized when he’d play especially more so with the slow ones where he’d come and sit on stage so he’s right here! I was in my groove then decided to look back at the rest of the crowd and yes, hypnotized is what they were, in awe, jaw dropped. Mesmerizing. Not only is he playing mean lead but he’s doing rhythm too!
He is one of the best ever., sadly he passed away way to early in life like alot of talented people, but left us with some amazing music.. That face he making in America is called THE STANK FACE, that is when you feel what your playing
Thank you for noticing and mentioning his eyes being closed. I've watched 100's of reactions to this, and very few notice that about 90% of this is with his eyes closed. His guitar tech has said that he had to replace the neck on that old Fender twice because Stevie did such hard bends that tge neck would get warped.
VooDoo Child Live from Nashville's show is one of the best with behind the back playing IMPO. He really shows out, LOL!!! As far as the El Mocambo show, I enjoy watching him doing "Little Wing". One of the last interviews I seen from him has left me in a state of limbo so to speak ... he said he was going to do something different such as not trying to see how fast he could play. Would have loved to see/hear what he had in mind. His song "Riveria Paradise" could have been a prelude to his evolving interests. A video you may enjoy is of SRV and his brother Jimmie ( an artist in his own right) doing their tune "Pipeline" on a dual guitar together.
First things first, SRV burst onto the scene in the early 80's. I am 63 years "young" and have been to hundreds of concerts. I live in NYC, so it was easy. My then husband and our friends were die hard blues fans and LOVED SRV!!! We saw him three times, and yes, I saw him play that very guitar. He is considered by many to be the GOAT of guitarists. Had Jimi Hendrix lived, it wouldn't have been that way. He got clean and sober only to die in a helicopter crash 4 years after. The world lost a great guitarist and a humble man, R,I.P SRV!
Speaking of worn guitars…check out Willie Nelson playing on ‘Trigger’ (guitar’s name). At his 90th birthday party concert recently it has even more holes! Still sounds great! You can see it well when he’s singing ‘Roll Me Up and Smoke Me’ with Snoop Dogg.
One of the great things about SRV is that if you aren't specifically familiar with each recording you can add studio and live versions to the playlist and won't necessarily be able to pick out which is which. Not because he manages to recreate the studio version perfectly each time live (as some bands do), but because even the studio version sounds like someone laying it all out live. You get all of him every time.
6:38 thought crossing my mind at this point having seen this is ...oh my Anthony just you wait you still aint seen the best of this man yet but just you wait bro its s comin lol. It will blow your mind im betting...did mine. Dude you spoke of this mans worn instrument...its like age it shows as worn because of the usage and passion in it. Its as if this js part of his body...another arm jf you will and you can see his passion flow thru that shizz fr fr. Hes dope af
You've also got to check out his cover of Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" from Austin City Limits in 1989, and "Riviera Paradise" from the same concert. And in general, the studio versions are great, but Stevie is always best experienced live. He never played any song the same way twice, so it's great that so many of his and Double Trouble's live performances are up on UA-cam now, for all to enjoy. (Sadly he died in a helicopter crash in 1990.) Listen to as many different ones as you can and pick your favourites. 😊❤

"Life Without You" live at the Capitol Theatre. Love SRV. He's absolutely the GOAT of blues guitar, in my opinion. Thanks for the great reaction. ❤
Yes, this one. Also, Ain't Gonna Give Up On Love from the same venue. Actually any song from Capitol Theatre is gold.
He was a 100% virtuoso. RIP to a legendary blues stringer.

Even SRV’s sound checks are epic! Check out “Stevie Ray Vaughan Sound Check 1986”. So so good!!! 🎸🤩🎸
The amazing part to me, is how well Double Trouble stayed with him the whole time he was improvising the solo. They were that tight as a trio.

Riviera Paradise is an underappreciated gem. I recommend the performance from Austin City Limits show in 1989.
A beautiful piece of music!
My favorite of all🎸🎶💙‼️⭐️🌟✨
Absolute perfection! And very different from the expected SRV song.
This is the 12 bar blues at its best. The simplicity of the overall song structure, and complexity of SRV on his guitar is 🔥.

All live stuff is all you should listen too. Albert king and Stevie ray vaughn are a must in studio live, also, Tin Pan Alley with Johnny Copeland!
Awesome reaction to The GOAT!!! SRV Please do a reaction to SRV playing Voodoo Child live in Nashville TN. It's incredible!!!
Love seeing the magic of Stevie as mezzmorizes people with his Guitar!!! And when he puts behind d his back people really freak out! Priceless!!! He's the GOAT 🐐!
Love SRV! Thanks AR!❤️🔥✌🏻🫶🏻
He was on a level of his own. I got to see him and Eric Clapton in Cincinnati Ohio before he passed away.
There are many guitar 🎸 kings out there, but only one guitar emperor : SRV!!!
Anthony, you also must do SRV soundcheck one. Omg!! Also--His amazing voice gets forgotten due to his amazing playing.
I love watching people react to Stevie. I really love when they react to this video. And I really really love to see their reaction when Stevie throws the guitar behind his back and plays lol.
SRV = THE G.O.A.T.
I have been waiting for this reaction so bad since BP showed you that Hendrix joint. My morning just got soooooooo awesome.
Best live blues guitar performance ever recorded. RIP SRV
SRV's recording career was brief...1983 to 1990 when he died in a helicopter crash after a show. I believe this performance is from 1983.
💙💙💙💙💙… I’ve been waiting for this reaction!!! This is going to be sweeet!!!!
🔥🔥🔥🎸🙏🏻🙏🏻😎
Love your channel!!
Dude. I sent you a request for SRV “Life Without You”, live at Capitol Theater. You will love it. You should also check out Joe Bonamassa live at the Greek Theater. He’s one of the best around. ✌🏻❤️from Texas
Greetings from the Bay area!I saw the Greek Theatre and had to give a shout out.
Apologies for the delay, I will get it done.
I second this comment.... and yes Joe Bonamassa is a beast and one of my favorites.
SRV wasn't a guitarist, he was a channel in which music flowed freely, he just transposed the vibes he was receiving. What an amazing artist, after the show, it's his guitar that needed a cigarette!
"LIFE WITHOUT YOU" FROM CAPITOL THEATER N. J. IS ANOTHER ONE TO WATCH!! 🐐🎸🤯🔥😢
LOVE Stevie Ray. He was amazing. My aunt swears she gave him and his brother a ride to school once.
Great recommendation.
Stevie is the guitar. I could watch this another hundred times.
😲The 'speechless, words fail me' moment. It never disappoints.
He is one of the best ever., sadly he passed away way to early in life like alot of talented people, but left us with some amazing music.. That face he making in America is called THE STANK FACE, that is when you feel what your playing
This video I believe takes place in the early 80’s. Appreciate your reaction, SVR was an awesome performer, rip Stevie.
Look at little sister , live version, string breaks and the smootest guitar switch Ever !
Check out "Tin Pan Alley", "Lenny", or "Riviera Paradise" all great songs!
One of my favorite performances of all time. Check out “Lenny” it’s such a beauty of a song
We saw them in concert many times back in the day ❤Brilliant 👏 He always brought IT
You should check out Jeff Healey live Can You See The Light. Also Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jeff Healey doing SRV song Look At Little Sister live.
Hes dope af
Another great video is life without you live at the Capital Theater
You've also got to check out his cover of Hendrix's "Voodoo Child" from Austin City Limits in 1989, and "Riviera Paradise" from the same concert.
And in general, the studio versions are great, but Stevie is always best experienced live. He never played any song the same way twice, so it's great that so many of his and Double Trouble's live performances are up on UA-cam now, for all to enjoy. (Sadly he died in a helicopter crash in 1990.) Listen to as many different ones as you can and pick your favourites. 😊❤
One of John Mayer biggest influences
The Legend...they got rare footage of a sound check with SRV........Called "sound check" unique ha....its 15 minutes of ........
