    I have two Swisher 60” pull behind mowers (14.5 HP engines on each) and have been pulling them behind my 1026R John Deere (w/ 60 inch deck) for several years now. I overlap the Swisher Decks about 12 inches on either side of the J.D. deck for a 13 foot cut. I mow 13 acres in 2-1/2 hours, or 5.2 acre’s/hour. I’m using two ball hitches from the tractor to the trail mowers but cornering leaves uncut strips so I need to switch to a sleeve hitch’s so the trail mowers tongues can’t swivel. I have pulled the Swishers on either side of the tractor and also both to the right side of the tractor which does triple mulch the grass blades for much less grass remnants left behind. Great time savor! Great minds think alike! ha ha! I’ll have to upload my system to UA-cam!

    A friend/neighbor did similar a while back using a gas push mower pulled behind his rider to mow about 2 acres. He just took the push handle off and built a bracket to keep it in position like you did only lighter duty. When I followed along on the 1.5 acre area adjacent to my place with my rider it was done very fast. I agree with mulching idea but not only for safety but also to make less work for the right side trailing mower. It has to cut it's own swathe plus recut the lead deck's discharge.

    • @logboom2002
      @logboom2002  6 років тому

      oh just quit it
      I did tried it with 2 mower just that one time for the video. Usually i use just the lawn tractor plus the mower on
      the right so there is no problem of recutting the grass. But you got the right idea bout mukching
      I keep one pull mower as a spare

      martianshoes I was told to mulch to self fertilize the grass and it has made my lawn beautiful. It is a lot less messy and looks better than long clippings on the grass. I can also mow along curbs, borders, and cars without clippings all over the place. I have really loved it thus far!

    I think it was the 1960’s that Cub Cadet sold a pull type mower along with a special rear hitch setup so you could pull two, just like your setup. Can you take another video showing the hitch system?
    About 14 years ago I got a free Snapper SPA520, 52” commercial walk behind mower minus the engine, plus I have three Snapper SPA360, 36” commercial walk behind mower decks and carrier frames. The SPA series have floating decks. The SPA520 I think I’m going to turn into a pull type mower.

    Look for John Deere SST15 SST16 or SST18 zero turn tractors with a bad hydrostatic transmission. Remove seat, steering wheel and transaxles and sell those parts. Install axle and tires in the rear and build a hitch on the front. Bingo you have a pull type mower since they are made with front caster wheels.
