Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition is a 2021 compilation of three action-adventure games in the Grand Theft Auto series: Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It was developed by Grove Street Games and published by Rockstar Games.

The worst thing, imho, is that you can no longer buy the original ones on Steam. Three true masterpieces, among their best video games ever, replaced by these poor "definitive editions" missing the charm and aesthetics of the original games. It is as if they have disowned their own roots for profit.
Even the ones that were available on digital stores weren't the true original code of the games. They were straight up the mobile versions.

The saddest thing about this is that you can make the original trilogy better than the remasters with a couple of mods.
I would like a mod that changes all the cars to actual cars of the era. Not just one modder car replacing one original.
If only this trilogy was remade inside gta v's engine and looked as good or better as gta v... But that will never happen any time soon.
That's really all I wanted too. Gta V mechanics and graphics on GTA 3/etc. Maybe add a few cars or removed missions or something too.

It wasn't Rockstar, it was Grove Street Games who did the shit mobile ports because Rockstar are too busy making actual decent games.
Played San Andreas the other day and I noticed tyres in the roads floating through the floor and ramps not working and even waypoints not working they still don’t care about these games it’s mad

Since the release I've finished all three remastered versions on Xbox One X, and up until San Andreas, I didn't really get all the hate. I very much appreciated the quality of life improvements, and the car handling was in my opinion the best of any versions of the old games I've played. However the amount of issues I got with San Andreas was very disappointing.

Toward end of 2021
I played through all of the definitive editions on PS5. There's some glitches but overall it was mostly a smooth experience. I think a lot of it is issues from the old games that just never worked in the first place, like some of the weird missions etc. because back then game design was generally just worse than today. But it was great, first time I beat all 3 games since they were released oh so long ago.

The trilogy remasters launched in a bad state BUT I can honestly say the games are actually decent now that they've been patched. Playing through Vice City again for the first time since 2003 on my PS5 just feels amazing. The gameplay feels better thanks to tweaks to make it feel more modern. I'll say if you can find them on sale and you're a fan of the series then they're worth it 💯 percent.

I would say only gta vice city and gta 3 is playable. Gta sa is still in a very crappy state .

I was just at Walmart looking at this game and I went to the internet to see what everyone thought about it the reviews were bad. I asked myself "I wonder if any changes have been made after all this time.
And its crazy its still 29.99 after all this. Should be a 20 dollar game.
Don’t listen to these review bombers. Guarantee they didn’t play it. If you want to play the old gta games without some of the annoying features and better graphics the definitive edition is the way to go
@@mrr_corleone if everyone thinks like you and would go out a buy a poorly made remaster, purchases will mean to rockstar that they have done a good job (even thou they've done half the job) there would be no interest on their part to deliver quality, it's people like you that give the incentive to game companies that is ok to deliver a poor game and fix it later with patches (cyberpunk, fallout 76) and many others i for one don't buy garbage and wait to seen how the game runs before i decide to make a purchase. Have some respect for your self and give your hard earned money on something with value for the very list if you work for the money that you spend, Have a great day.
@@mrr_corleoneYou are literally insane, review bombers hahaha 🤣 I played SA on game pass so didn't spend to play it and it was one of my fave games of all time still yet it was horrible absolute garbage 🗑️ so many glitches stopping you completing missions it took forever to get where I got and that was the mission you park the car in the garage with a bomb in it and it's on a timer well good luck with that because there were invisible objects I had to navigate ecerytime i restarted the car was glitching through the floor it was lagging then catching up and after at least 25 tries I uninstalled it and will never play it again it completely ruined SA for me but hey guess I'm just a review bombers because you say so

I did play them on launch and oddly enough, I didn't really have the same issues. In fact, it was decent. The rain was the one issue I had and thankfully, that got fixed.
Man.. This video is spot on! I am still waiting for a mayor patch to really bring these 3 game to the level and honor they deserve! ... I won't buy it until that day arrives, and will keep playing the GTA SA old skool version on the PS4, which is still very satisfying and nostalgic.

After the patches the games are more playable, so If you’re looking for a way to play the games on your modern console without modding or hacking it they’re all right. I have a feeling if rockstar worked on this and fully updated the games too look and feel like how Red dead II and GTA V feel, the definitive edition trilogy would of been viewed as our new gta game for the foreseeable future
we need an proper remake of these games with these features
-Swimming in gta 3 and VC
-more Enterable interiors in gta 3 such as night clubs malls and resturants (these buildings are found in game but are not enterable)
-Purchasable safe houses and businesses in gta 3
-More weapons in gta 3 (machine guns different kinds snipers and more melee weapons)
-Bikes in gta 3
-crouching in gta 3
-clothing customisation in gta 3 and VC (ik gta VC has it but i needs to be a gta SA like system)
-barbers and tatoors in VC and 3
-Ak 47 in VC
-GTA IV physics
-More air vehicles in VC and 3(helicopter hunter and stunt plane)
-Pizza missions in SA and 3
-Good citizen bonus in 3 and SA
-Gyms in 3 and VC (not a fat and muscle system but instead you can learn new combat moves)
-Driving schools in 3 and VC
-drinkable alcohol with a screen effect and drunk behaviour in all three games
-Other obvious improvements such as better character models and new graphics (not defective edition ones it has f#cked models and graphics are cartoony)
-car modding like gta 5
-redesigned menus (defective ones are not good enough)
Rockstar has all the resources and power to remake these games but i don't think they will do it because they have forgot about the games that brought them to this status and they are too busy milking absolute F#ck out of a 10 year old game that is 18+ but it is only played by 7 year olds

I loved it from day one, Platinumed Vice city twice and the other 2!
Granted I played the definitive edition after the patches...I thought they are really good and still play them today...Im blown away by the updated graphics...

I guess the Remastering pertains to the fact that one can now play these old games on new machines which I actually and personally like quite much. The only thing that annoys me a bit is that the flying school and particularly the flying in S.Andreas became much worse - at least on PC. That should be greatly improved!
Flying sucks on PS5 too. It's horrible, it's very hard to finish missions, but atleast it let's me play the game longer, cuz I'd fly through these games otherwise. Lol
The switch version is no exception, it is so hard for me to get past the mission where I shoot down cars and trucks in a helicopter. It feels impossible.

I have the original 3 on my ps5 since I bought them on the PlayStation store long before the remaster was ever a thing.

I played the GTA definitive edition through other sources, and I just think that they’re so much potential in this game. That rockstar could’ve done with this game but unfortunately Grove Street games and rockstar blew it for cash grab profit I just prayed to God that red dead redemption remastered they’re gonna really focus hard on it, but I also hope to that GTA trilogy is not completely abandoned and hopefully will get a ginormous quality of life update once the mobile version is announced and released

I agreed with the last part: this games deserves a remake. A complete reimagination of the games. Maybe after GTA VI release Rockstar can work on a Remake. But the originals are already so good, even GTA III it's playable in 2023 and it's a great game.

Two years later and some missions are still broken, there's this one mission where you have to steal a jet and return it to your airfield in San Andreas and I couldn't complete it as the red marker wouldn't realize that the jet was over it. Had to restart the mission and tbh screw these games.

When you made side-by-side comparison shots in the thumbnail, coupled with “2 years later” at the tail end of your title, I thought you were going to show vast improvements that were made to these remasters. But, nope - you’re just preaching to the choir.
You need to fix the bugs in your voice software, some words are way off. Hopefully Rockstar closes your studio and takes over themselves.

I was becoming interested in the GTA series when this "definitive edition" was nearing release. I figured I'd wait to get that instead of the older versions... Apparently that was a mistake. Now I have to buy either physical copies for PC, or get digital Steam keys from G2A, both of which seem to have issues pertaining to Windows 11 compatibility. All because Rockstar/Take-Two cant be damned to give these classic games the treatment they deserve. It would be AMAZING if these games could get a remake like Hangar 13 did with MAFIA: Definitive Edition, but alas, greed seems to fog the reasoning of all big corporations.

I feel that the remastered GTA III had weaker vehicles, but also stronger, they did not explode as often, but they were just like punching bread, its just weak and easily bends.

Never played the definitive editions, but based on what I'm seeing in this video the graphics update looks great in comparison to the originals. At the end of the day, that's all I would want. Give me the same old games as before, but make them a little less hard on the eyes. Looks like if they had taken the time to fix the bugs, they might have had something.
They should have just used the rage engine. The didn't need to add any further content, just update the models (or reuse from 4 & 5) and be done. They wouldn't have had to begin from scratch using U4.
Hopefully rockstar didnt work on it because they have all hands on deck for gta6
