@@thesistertube1257 I create my own spells. I have gotten inspiration from others, yes, but for me, it's about deciding on what focused intention (spell) I'm looking to achieve, then intuitively choosing any correspondences that I may want to add to enhance my intentions.
Items like herbs, candles, oils, colors, planetary alignments, moon phases, etc... aren't *necessary* unless they resonate with you; help you to be able to better visualize your intentions and bring you to a place where you *feel* magickal - so to speak. Everyone's spellwork looks a bit different.
Spells shouldn't feel like items on a list, but rather a guideline of things to consider. I just feel like there's more power in bringing *your* intention, and *your* relationship with correspondences when spell crafting.
☝️ Now, don't misunderstand me - there's nothing wrong with spellbooks or workings created by others, but the magick you create, yourself will be so much more potent 💜 There's no wrong way (in my opinion) craft and cast spells, and you will likely see the most rewarding results experimenting on your own 😊

It must be frustrating when people ask because you're an experienced practitioner but don't then listen to the answer. I see a lot of people discouraged with the response to many questions being "go study from different sources and figure out what connects for you and how to put a working together! " I get frustrated occasionally that there isn't just one definite answer for the thing I'm trying to figure out too 😇 but most of the time I love the freedom of gathering information, figuring out what makes sense and going from there. Plus any spell straight from a book has never felt properly connected for me but they're great for getting a starting point of you're not sure.
Yes it sometimes feels like homework but way more fun than anything I did at school 😁

I know exactly what you mean! I think we are so used to being able to pop on to Google and get an immediate answer, that when things are more vague, we get frustrated.
Plus, if you're anything like me, when it's a topic you get really passionate about, it's hard to have to wait for the answers because you want to go from 0-expert in 0.3 seconds!! 🤣

My first book was a spells for the teenager one. It has some basic information as well on herbs, sabbats etc but it was also very focused on wicca to the point of saying all witchcraft is wiccan. I still have it but I don't use it anymore but I keep it as a thank you for introducing me to spells and as a reminder of how much I've learned since. I'm glad that today, beginner witches can research more easier using youtube/instagram from experienced witches.

Something I've noticed is that a lot of Spellbooks are geared towards Wicca, which nothing wrong with that if youre Wiccan, but I find that it doesn't encompass everything that I feel it should. Finding books that teach everything from the positive to the negative is very hard, especially since most tend to go with the "love and light" approach. Thank you so much for the information in this video!

The Element Encyclopaedia of 5000 Spells by Judika Illes is the book that got me started in witchcraft. One night, i stumbled across a video on UA-cam about witchcraft and was fascinated so started to research. The next morning, my grandmother came round and gifted me that book, out of nowhere, saying she thought i'd like it. It was a huge sign to me that she gifted it to me with no knowledge of me having research witchcraft that night. I've yet to use any spells from it, but it really got me started

So, thank you :) I love your work.

To me, I have found that 'know thyself' has been a useful starting point. If you don't know how you work as a person, then your workings wouldn't be as effective. (Also, you get to explore what's meaningful to you and what's not. That's what makes spellwork unique to you.) As a consequence, I didn't even begin workings until a few years after starting out, which originally began with a series of unusual experiences dating to late childhood.

I hear you about the newish spell books only addressing ingredients and wording. It seems so obvious that it won't be useful without adequate understanding of the basics of energy, intention, visualization, focus, that I can't help but think perhaps they are written that way on purpose. Almost like, we all have the code, but we must do the work to understand, and so it's like a safety precaution because unless you have done the work to understand than you cannot cause any harm or even results by just getting your hands on a book. Spells in general are the reason so many people are attracted to the magickal life, without any intention of the inner workings involved so I guess it makes sense to be precautious when writing these spell books. They are meant for certain people and have a layer of protection for those that shouldn't be doing such workings as of yet.

I have been reading the Witches Book of Self Care and the Green Witch by Arin Murphy-Hiscock, but I have been quite frustrated by the lack of context at times. So now I am reading Witch by Lisa Lister which is about reclaiming your female power. It's really well written. However, to me witch is a gender neutral term. It's good for tuning into hormonal cycles though.
I have just added "Before You Cast a Spell" to my Wishlist. I heard good things about the Kate West books. I will try the Scott Cunningham books at some point even though I am not Wiccan.

Well if you create an egregor with a group or a servitor powerful enough or deal with certain entities then those crazy "impossible" spells do happen. It's all based on experience and knowledge. But these type of effects are very dangerous if not done correctly and need a lot of energy to make them work. Believe what you want but this does exist.

You gained a new subscriber! This is my second video I watched of yours and love the content. First witch video I seen that actually suggests learning the history and knowledge behind why your doing something and not just “jump in and get your feet wet” response most tell you to do. Saying if it backfires welp u will have a learning experience. Well I learned from dabbling in the paranormal that going in without knowledge can sometimes backfire so bad your not ready or even qualified to handle the situation. I am an over thinker kind of person and I love learning as much knowledge about something as I can before jumping in and getting burned.

I also had the impression when I started to get interested in witchcraft that it is more important to have a general understanding of the topic before you start crafting.
i started with meditation years ago, and then i got interested in other topics.
I got really interested in witchcraft through a video by One Topic at a time.
Because the humour and mentality in the witches Reddit, totally picked me up, and I also looked at it myself.
    I have a spellcrafting book
A Beginner's Guide to Creating and
Casting Effective Spells from Gerina Dunwich.
That also explains a lot of the basics, but it doesn't really explain what I can do with it.
I would like a source of information, be it a book, website or videos.
Which, like a modular system, explains the structure of spells to me and what the individual components are responsible for,
explains the ingredients to me, what they can do and how they can be used in spells.
How to make my own spells, similar to these baking books, which have a few separate pages about different doughs and creams and decorations
and I can build a cake out of it, and it gives tips on how the individual components can be modified,
so that from the knowledge I can possibly create my own cake recipe, from the knowledge and inspiration from the finished recipes.

I completely agree with this. For Beginners/"Baby Witches", in My Honest opinion it's best to start with the books to teach you, first straight away. I am guilty of just jumping in with Spell books when I was a teenager and omgoodness. Results did happen, but so did chaos. It's best to Research & learn when you are a Beginner/"Baby Witch", and only after that possibly begin with Spellbooks, glad that I learned that very valuable lesson, in my teen/early adult years.

I think it'd help me a lot not to do the spells, but to go through the spells and see how things are done and why they're done that way, take them apart and see why said things are used. I still don't feel ready to do spells though.

I added Dream Spells and Spell Weaving A Complete Guide For Positive Enchantment to my steadily growing list of books I want to buy. Thank you so much for this video. I totally agree that spells are totally useless if you don’t understand the correspondences. Do you know any books that explain not only WHAT the correspondences but WHY they are? Like what’s the historical reason?

Why don't you do a video on commanding spirits. Most people have looked through the old books of magic but I do not think many of them have called a spirit to physical manifestation.

This video just helped me so much! I have been reading and reading books for over a year trying to get that proper foundation. I've done 1 prosperity special a few months ago and it worked. I'd never thought of checking into why certain ingredients where used and such and definitely plan to dive much deeper and find out why things are uesed as I love books and learning more. I may have a book problem. Lol is there a book about correspondences you could recommended? Thanks

    Why do you avoid wicca?
What books or sources do you recommend for foundation and manifestation?
As a beginner where should one start from?

    • @HearthWitch
      @HearthWitch  Рік тому +3

I avoid it primarily because I don’t practice it, I am not Wiccan, and so, for me, books from a Wiccan perspective are not particularly useful. Also most books published have an aspect of Wicca to them which can get frustrating, especially if the book is not meant to be about the religion of Wicca
I have a video on my channel for recommended beginner books, if you search for beginner books in my channel it should come up, I hope this helps ☺️

    • @mj.guti_

magic is neither good nor bad, itself. witches are able to use their magic for protection or cursing, hurting even hexing someone. so, to answer your question, yes they can.

The Healing Power of Witchcraft: A New Witch's Guide to Spells and Rituals by Meg Rosenbriar might be a good one to check out. This vid is 3 years old, so idk if you've bought it since then, but that's a pretty neat spellbook in my opinion. Would love to hear your thoughts on it some day if you haven't already checked it out! C:

I rarely use anything purchased or bought specifically for use in any ritual or spell, preferring to use things I've either found, or that is produced right here on my property.
I also tend toward things that are personal to me, meaning I've either had them for a very long time, or made them myself. ( Or at very least have modified them myself. )
Candles? Not generally, unless they're 're-cast' from the wax of previously-used ones.
I much prefer my oil lamp/candle that I made myself from cedar that grew here, and other materials that are personal to me. ( Copper from my parents old house, brass shell casings that I fired, etc. )
The oil lamp is kept burning here 24/7, if I'm here with it, extinguished only when I leave for some reason.
I have animal bones that were collected from the woods here, and various vegetation that's been gathered... Oak, wild mint, and other herbs like foxglove, nightshade, and digitorum.
Also, I'm descended from 3 different 'pagan' groups, and rely heavily on those traditions.
I'm also fully aware that force of will, concentration, and the strength of intent play a large part in a successful outcome.
If ya don't really mean it and want it... don't do it. But once you commit to an action, pour yourself fully into it. Don't half-ass it.
P.S. I've been studying and using this stuff since I was about 15, and discovered meditation.
...which means I've been at it for more than 40 years now. Sheesh... how time flies.

Thank you so much! I am a beginning witch. Trying different spells. So far, 2 have actually worked! Currently on my 3rd!
Will take some time as I am in waiting mode.
Was able to purchase 2 of the books that interested me the most.
Moon Spells $8.39 Amazon (US) and
Spell Weaving $14.00 eBay (used, previously owned). On Amazon $93.00 + shipping! Pays to look!
I prefer to do my spells during Moon Phases. I find the energetic pull or push defines them.
I also use candles, crystals, and herbs to dress each spell.
Glad I found you! Looked at other UA-cam sites and you just seem to be YOU on the screen.
I prefer people who make you feel invited into their homes rather than all the dress up, lights, candles, smoke, ect in the background.

Hey Hearth! I just now found you and your videos and I must say I'm ADDICTED! I loved this one in particular: I spent most of my practice on the basics of the craft and I feel like now I'm ready to "graduate" to spell books! I purchased three of the ones you listed below: the 5k spells book, the protection spell book and the moon spell book! I was pleasantly surprised to see them all in kindle format (so I don't have to wait for shipping!). I have a big question though: is there a way for you to get amazon affiliate links for your followers who purchase from the US? I would love to support your work through your recommended items!

Edit: I see Hearth recommends this book as well and for the same reason.
A "spell book" I recommend to everyone is Judica Illes' "The Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells". It's a great book to reference for ideas in spell development and spell creation. It also contains a large formulary for many of our most commonly used items and ingredients. It's great when used like the reference that it is, not like the spell book some think it is.

Hey! I recently started following your channel and I've been binge watching everything from old to New 😅 but I watched this one as I'm a beginner and I wanted to see what books you recommended. You mentioned if there was books we'd like you to look into and I found a book called "basic witches" by Jaya Saxena and Jess Zimmerman and "the witches book to self care" by Arin Murphy (the Green witch book author). I was wondering if you've read these or heard of them and recommend them? Thank you so much! I love your channel, it's really helped me with the stereotype of being a witch in the US ❤
