    Cool -- the final photo looks very much like a late Renaissance still life by one of the masters, great light/color. And not a crazy and complex process -- thank you for the tutorial. But what is your recipe for your dish with the onions and garlic??? :-)

      Thanks! No special recipe, this time I made a simple pasta dish with tomato, garlic and onion.

    Nice tutorial. But why did you need the flash, when there was so much sunlight coming in from the window and from the same direction?

      Thanks. One reason to use a flash is to get the light you want and the light that stays constant as long as you want.

    First, thanks for the video! Let´s me just ask if in place a umbrella I use a softbox, I believe there´s no such difference in the results or am I wrong?

      Thanks. You can use a soft box as well and with this kind of subject the outcome is very similar.

    It's ok, It would be better if you lowered the light source and moved it closer, adjusted the White balance to the warmer side, and adjusted the exposure so the highlights were down, to limit the Blown out parts of the image. Good video to learn from.

    Nice idea..maybe an old knife in the foreground can round up the whole scene a little bit..?

    A nice image and kept simple, always a good model. I’d like to have seen the scales on the window sill as part of the prop. Nice work though.

    Nice image, i noticed you had your speedlight in front of the window. How much effect would the window light have had on the image?

      Thanks! The ambient light was several stops below the flash and therefore had no effect.

      @@mattisulanto I would like to control the SS, I like to use vintage lenses, and I was not able to set it to a specific speed range, like I could on my old SLR.

      @@mindseyeproductions8798 I'm not still sure if I understand. Put your camera on Manual mode and you choose any shutter speed, or use the S mode, if you want auto exposure.

      Thanks! The light coming from the window can change and be unpredictable, but the flash is constant. In this one I used flash, because I wanted to show how make the picture.

    The zoom setting of the flash is at 105mm? What distance from the flash from umbrella? Thanks in advance!

      The flash setting could have been 105mm, but I'm not sure any more. The flash was about maybe 40cm from the umbrella and the umbrella maybe 50cm from the subject. I made the video nine months ago, so I don't remember the exact settings any more😀I'm sorry.

    Mukava yksinkertainen setup mitään kommervenkkejä, joskus näinkin - kiitokset. Pari huomiota: se mikä jäi kertomatta oli sipulien etäisyys taustakankaasta; onko merkitystä(?) Et pimentänyt ikkunaa, koska aika oli lyhyt muutenkin (tätä juttua olisit voinut vähän avata lisää).

    Hi, what was the light power?

      At 2:59 it looks like it's 1/4 of the full power. However, it doesn't really tell you much unless you have EXACTLY the same set up. You have to adjust the flash power for your set up, which is probably not exactly like mine.

      @@BmcN72 I don't know what that is. The diffuser has to be big enough (diameter about 60cm min.) and far enough (40cm min.) from the flash.
