@@MikeyMoVlogs I find it funny that people are so quick to "move out" . I'm 50 and still cohabitate with my 73 year old mom... I've bought a home or 3 with my mother.... I'm a different generation raised seeing most homes where I used to live were 3 "family homes" granny lived ground floor we lived upstairs and other family members lived downstairs... Domestic calls make up the majority of calls, you are right the tax dollars could be spent on officers who want psychological training, addiction and mental health training. The police is not military. Compassion, empathy and understanding go hand in hand with dealing with the public, it’s a hard job but the classes and schooling should be provided to all officers who want to work in this climate

From someone who worked ems for 14 years for those that sarcastically tell Mikey to do his job, i know he explained it but some people the elevator just don’t stop at the top floor. We get BS calls all the time… a guy calling 911 because he has a infected splinter in his finger (i shit you not) that takes up resources because they never tell the truth and it comes out as unknown medical aid and we all roll, engine, RA etc those resources are not used when he could have driven himself to an urgent care or emergency room and then when that heart attack, stroke or gunshot goes out and its across town and we have an extended eta sometimes those crucial minutes can actually mean life and death… same for the cops. They can be out there catching criminals and doing other things. Just my .02. These armchair quarterbacks need to take a ride along with police and ems for a week (a day isn’t long enough) to see the scut we deal with before giving opinions. Sorry for writing this book. It turned into a seminar 😂

I hear that! I am a special services teacher who works with children and adults 12-25 years old who have behavioral challenges. A lot of what I deal with doesn't have to do with disability, challenges, or any extra need. It has to do with anger, frustration, guilt, and good old family dynamics. Years ago I worked with a school psychologist who used to tell me, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree." At first, I found that a bit off-putting, and then I realized the truth behind the statement. Personality trumps disability every time. I wish that I had recorded my family's Christmas dinner for you. My husband and I made it in and out in under two hours, after dealing with bickering, a health emergency, and blame, disgust, and ridicule for the victim. Nobody died and that's the best I can say. I think that I might have crumpled a little bit inside. These people are in their mid-seventies and eighties and are intent on living forever. We are going on a northern-west coast beach jaunt in August. If you hear of a pepper-haired woman floating in on the tide of the Washinton coast, that will be me! That's my seminar and book. Love to all!

I just added a comment about being a CAD software developer. There is another aspect that you failed to mention, and that is putting stress and burden on the dispatcher. They are the ones who receive the call first, and if the CAD software sucks (ours didn't :D) then it won't allow the dispatcher to add notes to the dispatch. The tool I worked on allowed for that, so when it popped up on your mobile screen it would have those dispatch notes: "RP says he has splinter and it's infected". I'm not discounting the first responders by any means. When I was working for that company I went on a few ride alongs, and seeing what officers and paramedics have to go through on a nightly basis was eye opening.

I know y'all have to respond to 911 calls but what gets me is the people who abuse the system by calling for attention; retaliation or foolishness tying up valuable resources. My cousin called 911 saying my uncle was mistreating his mom and was concerned for her safety. The police; fire department and ambulances showed up at my uncles house telling him they were taking my aunt to the hospital. My uncle refused telling them she was dying and on hospice and wasn't leaving that house. They told him since they received a complaint they had to check on her so he allowed them to come inside and check her out, which they did. They apologized to my uncle telling him it was obvious he was taking very good care of her. She passed away several days later and while my uncle and my parents were helping him make funeral arrangements, my cousin was at the bank clearing out the bank accounts! My uncle put his name on the account in case something happened to him, my cousin would be able to care for her! What I don't understand is why he wasn't charged for calling in a false report wasting the time and resources of the police department, fire department and paramedics!

As an adult (now) who grew up with two narcissistic parents, I can empathize with the guy having a problem with his mother. Unless you grew up with it, you have NO IDEA how frustrating it is to watch your parent tell blatant lies to a LEO and get away with zero consequences. And on TOP of all that be told to grow up and get over it. (Basically.) Your only concern is immediate de-escalation of a volatile situation and, if you grew up with "normal" parents, you tend not to believe a mother would do/say/think that way, so it must be an ungrateful kid, right? Quite often situations aren't what they appear to be on the surface.

I agree, you shouldn’t have to be there for these kinds of situations, police officers are not babysitters. I was pulled by a small town policeman in the middle of winter in Vt with big snow banks along the road so cars could barely pass. I kept going a couple hundred feet to pull into a parking lot to get off the road. The officer reamed me out for not stopping immediately. I always thought that if I slowed down, put on my blinkers and pulled into a parking lot as soon as possible that would be safer for everyone. But, according to him I was to stop as soon as his lights came on no matter where it was or what the traffic or conditions were. Personally, I have no issue pulling to the side as soon as possible but in some conditions it just isn't safe for them, you, or other drivers. I wish all police were as reasonable as you appear to be.
