Starwars Lightsaber "Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." ―Han Solo, to Luke Skywalker on the supposed advantages of a blaster over a lightsaber[src]
I think you answered your own question on how the Sith would gain knowledge on the Jedi forms of fighting, infiltrators or Revan when he is bent to the emperors will. The emperor would have taken the knowledge and then just applied what they knew. Essentially the Sith would already know form 1-3 possibly form 4 all after the great hyperspace war.
Or more simply that the Sith created similar fighting styles. (Because there are many similarities between different fighting styles in our own world.) And after corrupting some of the Jedi during the first real war between the Republic and the Sith the other forms became standard training in the Sith Empire.
I salute you, every video of yours contains pure star wars lore and logical opinion, its great to see this level of appreciation for the star wars universe. Subscribed.
how come every lightsaber has an extrunal ON/OFF switch ? if i were a jedi my lightsaber's on/off switch would be located within the hilt itself and only i would know where it was within the hilt. the reasions why i would have it that way is 1st only force senitives could activate it not some yahoo who dosnt know what there doing wont be able to hurt them selfs (God for bide it ever got away from me) and 2nd i could hold it anywhere on the hilt and not have to worry about the dame switch. total flexability on hilt control . what do yall think about this idea of a internal switch lightsaber ????
first off yes non force sensitives can use lightsaber to high effectivness such as General Givious and Tor Vizsla former leader of Death Watch. However uncommon it is some non force sensitive bings, given the right training a practice can use lightsabers ! As for lossing your lightsaber, it has happened to jedi. Two known jedi that this has happened to are Bastila Shan wen her escape pod crash landed on the planet Taris and was taken by Brejik and his Black Vulkars Swoop Gang the KOTOR 1. And the 2nd jedi that came to mind is Jaden Korr when he was investigating a crime lord's driod factory on the planet Dosuun, he was overwhelmed by stelth attackers and he was also taken captive. So lossing your lightsaber can happen had it has happen. Also having an external activation switch poses a threat to who ever is wearing it. for example two opposing lightsaber/force sensitive opponents are faceing each other and one of them has MY unique internal activation switch,"which i only know where it is located within the hilt" and the other has a tradtional external activation switch. All that my lightsaber carryer would have to do is used the force to activate the traditinal lightsaber hit before they could get it off their belt and now your missing a leg. Also have no buttons or switches to hinder my grip on the hilt gives me a far better advantage over leverage and control over the lightsaber. So my new internal switch design i beleave to be far more superior then the traditional external switch design.
Well i guess we'll just agree to disagree ! but i stand by my design 100% and i still belive it to be superior. iv always been the one not to follow the norm anyways
ok take a low profile button like Qui-gon's lightsaber, cut off the redbutton, cover the exspoed hole and there you go, internail switch . its two easy. trust me iv thought alot about it . i think out side of the box
and it all started with two guys(well reached the boiling point anyways) dueling with old ass light sabers that needed bloody power cords attched to them to plug into energy sources on the back of them over 2000 years agao from the yavin invasion....
And I also loved how Cortana represented Chiefs soul. There was such wonderful symbolism. Like Cortana is free which is shown since she wears nothing, but she still does'nt know if something is real when Chief is trapped in a dark shell of armor that has broken him and he does know if something is real but he does'nt show it. I also loved- SPOILER When Cortana died, and Chief said, "Wait." It was like a teenager becoming an adault and knows their mother can't hold their hand forever.
I would have a straight if slightly curved saber-hilt powered by a purple crystal with the bar being more blade-like, do to I have some of Mace Windu in me. Can you do versus with Xesh or Tao?
Djem So's focus on BRUTE FORCE, BRUTE FORCE, BRUTE FORCE, BRUTE FORCE makes me think of hulking Massassi warriors cleaving enemies in two with heavy Sith swords. (Hence why I believe Djem So is of Sith origin and was adopted by the Jedi after the Great Hyperspace War, wherein it was added to Shien to become the other half of Form V).
6:00 That's true, but that wasn't the only weapon that was best-suited for Makashi; there was also the lightfoil. Lightweight and balanced, it could be wielded in one hand with its petite and elegant handle, suiting Makashi's focus on blade control and fluidity.
Fantastic! I'm curious to see how much material you can glean from the New Republic Era on how combat/saber styles changed under the New Jedi Order under Grand Master Skywalker.
Plotholes in the EU 1) If some Jedi thought djem so was too aggressive, why invent niman when you could just revert to soresu? Why incorporate aspects of djem so into niman if you hate djem so? 2) If some jedi hated niman why invent juyo why not just use djem so?
Since you know a lot about the SW saga and lightsaber technique's I have a question thats been bugging me for a while: In a lightsaber duel do you think is it possible for someone to switch off his apponents lightsaber through the force? Since you can almost 'move' anything with the force? Thanks
My fantasy lightsaber would be a single bladed, long handled, dual phase. i would wield it like a bo staff and the hilt would be made of mandalorian iron and laced with cortosis weave. I would deliberately expose my hilt to the opponent so they could try to cut it and get thier blade witch off. My fighting style for this weapon would be the bladework of juyo with the footwork of makashi. What do you think jensaarai I'd likely suck at blaster deflection but i would use tutaminit to compensate
It seems that each form was largely created in response to the previous form, with little regard to the forms before it. Shii-Cho wasn't very good at one-on-one dueling, so Makashi was created. Makashi sucked at blast deflection, so Soresu was created. Soresu had no offense, so Ataru was created. Ataru had no defense, so Shien/Djem So was created. Shien was too aggressive, so Niman was created. Niman wasn't aggressive enough, so Juyo was created/introduced.
So I digged up one of my old lightsaber and my saber staff I have Palpitines and Darth Mauls lightsaber and I use the saber staff more wat should I look up to kind perfect my saber staff techniques?
I would like to point out that according to the Jedi Academy series, exar kun (I believe that is how it is spelled) did survive for over a thousand years, possibly more. I thought that he should have mentioned the way he started the war, which was by enslaving the massassi people on Yavin's moon (which is actually where the battle of Yavin takes place, on a moon orbiting a gas giant). the purpose of their enslavement was to build obsidian pyramids to focus his power. The pyramids had the added effect of keeping him "alive"(if he drained the life of all the massassi people on the moon) until Luke Skywalker gets there for the Jedi Academy. I will not say anything further to avoid ruining the books.
Will you do a video more pike a kaggath, sith duel of powerbases. Also a droid vs bounty hunter would be interesting due to the fact that it would depend on cunning and skill. Example Jedi killers HK-47 vs Jango Fett 88a vs Bossk. Is the Bounty Hunter wars still canon?
If the early lightsabers had beltpacks, wouldn't it be safer to run the lead up your back and down the swordarm, minimizing the chance the power cable gets cut?
"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid." ―Han Solo, to Luke Skywalker on the supposed advantages of a blaster over a lightsaber[src] Starwars I love am a big starwars big am a fan
He is a master of all seven forms, and he can easily mix and match various elements together in a randomized and utterly unpredictable style. It is not known which style is most prominent, but Juyo and Ataru could be so, as Juyo would certainly suit a Sith like Palpatine and he'd want to be too fast for his opponents.
I loved the symbolism between Cortana and Chief. She could give you a million reasons to why a star is or is'nt real, but she will never know if it is actually real, if it feels real. Who is the real machine?
There were not only three centuries between the Great Hyperspace War (and Vitiate's exodus), it was 13. So that is the correct timescale to cite. In fact, I think lightsabres would've come back to the Sith Empire before the Jedi Civil War, because Revan's Sith Empire is the first seen wielding exclusively red-bladed lightsabres, whereas the Sith that the Republic previously knew of wielded only alchemical swords in the Great Hyperspace War.
Bear in mind I have not read that novel, but couldn't that be Revan describing what he sees in terms he is familiar with? For instance, in Chinese Martial Arts there is a technique called "Light Body Training". When I started to learn it I released it was basically just plyometrics, and referred to it as such. Of course this could just be a glaring oversight made for multiple reasons (game balance in the MMO most defeinitely).
The hyperspace explorers didn't inadvertently lead the sith back to the rest of the galaxy. I think it was Marka Ragnos who took Gav Daragon (one of the explorers) as his apprentice and together they returned to the galaxy and lead the sith against the republic in the great hyperspace war. Strangely, the old republic navy named a flagship after Daragon after his death.
Say Jensaarai, I saw your review for 'TOR Revan' and I remember that you initially believed that Revan was trying to be the 'anti-Palpatine'; be a sort of vaccination against the Sith. How exactly would that work? I know it was established that he was enslaved, but still... just asking.
You said in a video that Juyo was an incomplete form But, if your theory is correct, that Juyo is a Sith origin combat form, then does that mean that Juyo is actually a "completed" form, in a sense? If Juyo is of Sith origin, brought into the Jedi by either defectors or infiltrators, then would that mean that the original Sith version of the form is a complete form? Where as the Jedi's application would be the "incomplete" version, given that Juyo tends to make students fall to the Dark-side?
Jensaarai, you know that Exar Kun was a Niman practitioner? Well, I've wondered why he chose that particular style; being a style of moderation, it generally wouldn't appeal to a guy like him. Do you think it was the fact that Niman includes elements from all forms that drawn Kun to it? As you said in the Niman video, proper mastery of Niman means you know the basics of all forms and are a 'master of everything'. What do you think?
Regarding the Sith vs. Jedi Fighting styles: It could be that the paths of development led down similar paths, similar to real world fighting styles. Although every culture has their own fighting style, there are a lot of similarities between each and the differences seem to be determined by culture more than by the style itself. This could mean that while the Sith did not practice an "Ataru" fighting style, they might have had something comparable like..."Sinistaru" or something silly.
If shien was designed to deflect bolts back at targets then why does form three involve redirection moves? in laberynth of evil obi wan uses moveslike that and describes it as 'the beauty of form three'
on the note of how the sith empire would have had jedi fighting forms as you said the sith empire had spys in the jedi order who could have been send info on jedi fighting forms back. sort of a "know your enemy" thing.
What source says, that dark jedi have conquered the Sith race? Sith had strong empire, strong force users that were numerous (and like 99% of the race were force sensitives, due king Adas), and sith sorcery was superior (the jedi that learned it, and haven't found satisfactory place in Ajunta Pall's hierarchy, return to fight the Jedi and Republic, reveling them about Sith). What I read... their jedi's skills and technology, acquired them a high place in their society, which they use to place themselves as rulers and lords of the SIth. And in swtor, jedi consular found a prototype of lightsaber from force war made by Rajivari.
Mistake made ... the Sith that evacuated Korriban for Dromund Kaas ... were away for a thousand years (from the great hyperspace war) not 300. Though it is true that Exar Kun was 355 years (minimum) prior to the Empire from Dromund Kaas's return the time line is clear on that as even Malgus comments on it in the return video. They did establish as Canon that Revan and Malak were acting under orders from the Sith Emperor but you could say the Empire they lead is technically not the same.
The really intresting thing is that what if Anakin was right about the Jedi are evil. Because they were not but they most certainly were becoming evil with the Juyo fighting style. Plus am I right here that it is not the Jedi way to kill people if they are unable to fight back? If so, then when Mace Windu was almost about to kill Sidious, Anakin was saying things like, "Jedi don't kill! He must live!" So Anakin ironicly was more of a Jedi than Mace.
3 simple steps to win a lightsaber fight 1. Swing at your opponent 2. Deactivate your lightsaber passing through your opponents blade 3. Turn your lightsaber back on killing your opponent.
Yeah, it is very ironic; Niman being a style of moderation for more conservative Jedi, yet those who fully master it don't adhere to its core ideals. But as you said, Niman is a hybrid martial art style, so proper mastery could make a duellist almost undefeatable, like Exar Kun.
Well, I haven't really played the KOTOR games; I hope to, but they do take up a lot of GBs. But anyway, that's very interesting. Alas, the novel revealed that he fell under Vitiate's influence. That's too bad, really; the idea that he was being the 'anti-Palpatine' would have been a great show of character. I am sorry your impression was shot down.
You're probably right... hmm, well, perhaps the Sith saw the effectiveness of the Jedi forms and adopted them so they could better fight the Jedi, using their own techniques against them. And maybe the Jedi felt the same about Juyo if your theory is correct about Juyo being a Sith origin form (which I would agree with that theory, Juyo seems more Sith based than Jedi based, yet perhaps they saw what the style can do and kept it around, despite the dark nature of the form) Just a guess
If the jedi were hesitent to use double sided lightsabers solely because they were of Sith make, they would certainly not use a lightsaber style of Sith make that used the dark side of the force, espesially at that time. I believe that juyo was developed by jedi that had fallen to the dark side and were redeemed during the early years of the war. The jedi probably developed it after seeing the power of the Sith, and wanted to create a style that utilized that power and adopt it as jedi. The counsel might've been forced into excepting it after many jedi were already using after being turned off by the Sith's true intentions. Other than that, I agree with everything else you said.
so everyone what would your lightsabers be like i would have jar kai weapons one exar kun style saberstaff with purple crystals and dual phase setting and one curved hilted dual phase with green crystals
Who can blame them, Halo wasn't really a unique idea when it came out. But it was still groundbreaking. Now Sci-fi action (I'm reluctant to call it RPG due to ME 2& 3) like Mass Effect really showed us, what not only BioWare could do, but what Sci-fi could do. Halo is a fantastic saga, but it died out a bit when they let fans wait too long for a fresh release, while BioWare relish in the idea of tease their fans with bits from their games! :P
The amount of research you dedicate to these vids is both impressive and appreciated.
The MODERN Sokan was derived directly from Grandmaster Yoda's application of Form IV Ataru. So you're right to a certain extent.

the jedi and sith seem like a gang war, bloods vs crips, red vs blue haha
because it is basically that way...XD
and it all started with two guys(well reached the boiling point anyways) dueling with old ass light sabers that needed bloody power cords attched to them to plug into energy sources on the back of them over 2000 years agao from the yavin invasion....
Thank you for these videos. Good job.

You are wonderfully informative
When can we expect Part 2? And how many parts are there?
It seems that each form was largely created in response to the previous form, with little regard to the forms before it.
Shii-Cho wasn't very good at one-on-one dueling, so Makashi was created.

Shien was too aggressive, so Niman was created.
Niman wasn't aggressive enough, so Juyo was created/introduced.
I'm jealous of your Star Wars knowledge
And that Mass Effect style looking graphics was in Halo 4 aswell to. ME always have this blue like gleam like a line and Halo 4 also had that.

Very good analysis.
i recently got the guide to warfair and man is it awsome mainly the lightsaber part
I love the Halo 4 soundtrack. That first song at the start is 117. Cheifs theme. Love it.
What do you Jensaarai think of the mechanics of the Forms in SW: TOR's Knight and Warrior's advance classes skill trees?
is there a book about the 7 forms? I can only teach my nephew Shii Cho
how effective would trakata's pass the blade technique be when paired with Jar'kai.
cool music that goes on in 11:13 what is the music that is playing during 11:13
You rea my mind. I completly agree. And everytime I here Promethean, I can't help but think Protheans from Mass effect.
That old pic around 9:07 was that dimachaeri? Or some later form of fencing?
I think it could be the attraction of reaching that stage where you are nearly unbeatable, it certainly ties in with the sith ideals of seeking power.

Technically speaking, the first lightsaber was created in 1977.
1976. Filmed before release. If we're being that technical ;)
He is a master of all seven forms, and he can easily mix and match various elements together in a randomized and utterly unpredictable style. what would your lightsaber be like
How is that a response to or a rebuttal of my arguments?
what is the back ground soung
So what saber form would you use for guard shotos
i know and 1 of the 1st portable lightsabers was the darksaber, you can tell this because of its sword like blade

Did you know that your part 2 of this was taken down/blocked?

They did establish as Canon that Revan and Malak were acting under orders from the Sith Emperor but you could say the Empire they lead is technically not the same.
Right. And that's why they used swords instead of the already-developed lightsaber. But the lightsaber still existed.
Dawn of the Jedi is a strange comic book series indeed.
Trakata! Though it is risky...
Yeah, it is very ironic; Niman being a style of moderation for more conservative Jedi, yet those who fully master it don't adhere to its core ideals. But as you said, Niman is a hybrid martial art style, so proper mastery could make a duellist almost undefeatable, like Exar Kun.
Vitiate had other agents in the Republic and Jedi, Children of the Emperor to name a group
I just discovered you Jensaarai1. I'm loving your videos so I'm Subscribing.
Really cool vid thx for uploading
You're probably right... hmm, well, perhaps the Sith saw the effectiveness of the Jedi forms and adopted them so they could better fight the Jedi, using their own techniques against them. And maybe the Jedi felt the same about Juyo if your theory is correct about Juyo being a Sith origin form (which I would agree with that theory, Juyo seems more Sith based than Jedi based, yet perhaps they saw what the style can do and kept it around, despite the dark nature of the form)
Just a guess
what was the pic u used at 09:01
Can you scale the music down cause sometimes it is very loud
should i start with the kortor games or the old republic
@jensaarai1, sorry man part has a copyright claim on it its it possible to reupload it
Who can blame them, Halo wasn't really a unique idea when it came out.
When you said that you did not know how the sith got the seven forms, i think that sith infultrators gave the information to the sith
