Back in the day when manhunts were new, me and my friends did a ton of them. The runner never made it very far no matter who of us tried running. Fun times
Did one a few years back with 3 other friends, I was the runner and the other 3 hunted, I managed to win but it required a ton of luck and tbh 2/3 hunters were terribly awful and my other friend was alright at the game, I already had experience with the game and I just managed to combine it with luck Its definitely possible but you need to be facing literal octopuses on keyboards
@@sourswift in most manhaunts with average players the hunters will win much more times if they properly team up, for the runner to win it requires luck, some skill and or the hunters to make some blunders, thats what real manhounts look like most of the time

love how you're talking about boosfer and yellow respectively but no need to say it out loud. the thing is that yellow and kierr are able to win their manhunts because they use really OP twists whereas boosfer sometimes loses because he doesn't usually use OP twists. Also if you look at their stats, boosfer has the highest win rate in one category and is near the top in all the other categories. I'm sure if you removed all OP loot twists, the stats would clearly favor boosfer as even in their manhunts he often utterly decimates them. Bro kept it real 🙏, i have done 3 minecraft manhunts with me friends on bedrock edition and everytime we just act like it is 2am with our brains barely working and we just goof off instead of just being sweaty. So in summary it either takes us 5 minutes or days to complete a manhunt lol
When both players are equal skill level the manhunt becomes basically impossible, as once you kill the hunter once whilst you try to get wood what last low from a punching battle, they just quickly come back with full health to finish you off
The actual strategy is to run for a long ass time. You don't see it in UA-camr manhunts, but most of the time is spent running really far. Like thousands of blocks far. They edit that out because you'd have like a 3 hour video with 2 hours of running away and only 1 hour of any real action. The reason running away is such a good strategy for the speed runner is because the hunter goal is to kill the speed runner. If the speed runner goes a thousand blocks away, the hunter is FORCED to follow him. But if the hunter dies, they're immediately teleported back to spawn, and that distance basically becomes impossible to make up. The other reason that running away is the best strategy is the fact that loot structures exist. If the speed runner, travels far enough, eventually, they'll find a loot structure. And because the hunter is always BEHIND the speed runner, the speed runner always gets to the loot structure first, meaning that if neither of them spend any time gearing up, and just jump straight into a chase, the runner WILL end up with gear, and the hunter won't, unless the hunter drops chase to gear up. But dropping chase to gear up allows the runner time to get away. Basically, manhunts are not impossible, you just don't run far enough.
@@loudwhispre9406 Part of why manhunts appealed to me before was that you would run around in crazy terrain, the hunter right on your tail, and you would make crazy escapes. It's what makes bedwars so appealing for me, I love it when someone does some crazy (unscripted) parkour shit to make a great getaway. In vanilla minecraft that usually consists of just running in one direction for eternity though... or digging straight down... or basically any other boring but realistic strategy.
Dream 100% cheated, its obvious to anyone without Dream glasses on. Some of the stunts he pulls off are not only so unrealistic, but also sometimes not true to how the hunters would act. Like when SnapNap - who always rushes Dream no matter what - was in FULL DIAMOND ARMOR ABOVE DREAM (who had no food btw) AND DIDN'T RUSH HIM, YET DECIDED TO THROW A WATERBUCKET TOWARDS DREAM WHICH WAS LITERALLY THE ONLY ITEM THAT COULD HAVE SAVED HIM IN THAT MOMENT
That moment is probably the result of the rule that they have to restart if he dies at the start. Imagine being those 5 hunters who have to keep killing Dream over and over again. At some point you would just toss on purpose to get it over with.
@@Willerhide It's not like his friends are AI, they're human beings with limited patience and an eye for content. Sap probably did that of his own accord, like "Here's your out Dream, if you miss it we restart and it's your fault, but if you catch it we get a good play and keep the run going" without even having to say it aloud.
There is a server where manhunts exist. I have used it multiple times. Majority of the time once you kill someone 1-4x they leave and quit. Most of the other time as hunter, if you have slight mc pvp skill the fight barley lasts 10 seconds. Got to the point when I was hunter I just, made wooden axe and won. And yes the runner gets 10 second head start
i dont think theres anything wrong with the op plays rule or the resetting if he dies early, they do that to keep things fresh, why would we wanna watch a video with the same predictable op trap that we know is gonna kill him if it was op enough or why would we wanna watch him die 2 seconds in and the video ends
100% Agreed. The rules Dream used are specifically designed for his UA-cam series. The point of calling them out is “but what if you recorded it solely trying to win without any rules”
@@Willerhide Yes but the run you posted didn't include any OP strats. It was just a mid run that Dream wouldn't upload to UA-cam, AKA probably 75% of his runs. Anyone who thinks Dream uploads every single run is just completely delusional and beyond saving.
This is honestly so much more interesting thanks to the authenticity, because it actually feels like sth I could do and be hyped up to see, with an actual skill curve
Can confirm, I used to play a lot of manhunt. 90% of the time the runner gets beaten to death with a flower in the first three minutes. 9% of the time, the runner gets away and they never cross paths again for the rest of the run, or they catch you one more time, you kill them, and they rage quit. I've had maybe two manhunts with actual cinematic moments, and only one of those had an end fight (the hunter beat me to the end and tried to lava trap the end portal but I pearled out and killed them. then died from fall damage due to the dragon). The one time I actually won by killing the dragon, I lava trapped my nether portals and never even saw the hunter.
I feel like the odds of dying in a manhunt would kinda be a bell curve. It's super easy to die at the start, but once geared up you can run forever, then in the end you have nowhere to run.
Tried doing this myself with 2 other friends. Hours of death before a half decent run. My best “achievement” was getting enough blaze rods and getting out of the nether before dying to lava trap
As a somewhat experienced player I don’t really blame dream. We knew the hunters didn’t try their best, it wouldn’t make good content. And I enjoyed the content.
While some aspects of the manhunt may or may not be scripted, there are a few moments (mainly involving mobs) that are not. Dream couldn't script whether or not certain mobs moved in specific ways, like who gets dolphin priority, or that one time he rode a boat on a ghast just in time.
yeah, its literally impossible to tell if Manhunts are scripted. all the rules mentioned in the video have been confirmed by dream so its complete opinion whether those rules are counted as staging.
@crazagres1839 I mean, we don't have any actual **proof ** that Drewm cheats with his Manhunts. All we know is that he uses a mod/plug-in thing for the compass. We don't have any actual evidence that he cheats for Manhunts specifically, just speculation
Me and some palls actually did an unscripted manhunt aswel and the second round was pretty fun. It was a 3v1 whit myself being one of the hunters. The runner managed to break away from us about 10 minutes in and we spend about 30 to 45 minutes trying to catch up whit him. We knew we weren’t to far behind him but he managed to remained out of our sight. That was until one of the other hunters managed to catch up (we had broken apart during the chase). They sadly perished to the runner who we had learned had just basic stone tools. We lost sight of him for another 10 minutes and I at some point linked up for a short time whit the 3rd hunter before continuing my pursuit. During this 10 minute stretch I also managed to find a shipwreck filled whit iron which would come in handy VERY soon because hunter 3 had caught up to the runner and managed to distract them long enough for me to catch up and craft some iron armor. Now whit both a number and gear advantage we went in hard and NEARLY managed to kill him, but he ultimately managed to escape due to a few good crits on his part and our rather dire food situation. it wasn’t much longer after this that he found a lava pool and entered the nether. And than after spending about 20 minutes in the nether he died rather anti climatically to a piglin brute. And your wondering: in the first round the runner got shot by a skeleton in the first 2 minutes
One thing I will say is the dynamic changes with multiple hunters because there is always a chase going on. The runner rarely has time to do things like stop and smelt.
bro i was casually enjoying the video and right as I was about to sub I just realized I already am and just remembered you from Archmeton's discord lmao its been so long
I feel like an easier solution would be more easier challenges. That way, you will still have the thrill without worrying about video duration. Another could be teams where a certain amount of people are hunters and speed runners
i mean, either it is just a game of close following and punching, or it just turns into one PvP match, with the hunter gennerally losing since they had to spent their time running and catching up, rather than looting
Some UA-camr once asked me to hunt him in a manhunt. He immediately cancelled it when I found a pyramid, got a saddle and diamond horse armour, and started chasing him on horseback. It wasn't scripted enough for him where he was the one in power
a potential idea for a minecraft man hunt rule set instead of a 1v1, you have 2 teams of 2+ 2 players who need to beat the ender dragon without dieing then 2+ hunters chasing after them then, as an added twist every time one of the ender dragon killer players die, they join the hunters team
The only thing I can think of to get this "closer" to difficult, is having more hunters. Like, 3 or 4. Btw, great video! As a person who enjoyed watching Dream's manhunts, I was a "little" sceptical about the rules, but ultimately didn't care. You opened my eyes for the reality! Subscribed :D
I've done a few and they do just boil down to killing the hunter at the beginning, usually there's some second encounter somewhere around the nether segment, and if you kill the hunter again they leave the game or you kill the ender dragon without ever seeing them again
I hate playing manhunt with my cousin because of this. It's way more fun on paper than it actually is to play; at our skill levels either one of us dies really early and that's it, or nothing happens and it's just a normal Minecraft fast playthrough. (Or we're chasing each other the entire time and never progressing.) It's either beyond boring or super annoying.
Yeah, for me, the funniest part of a manhunt would be running away and hiding from hunters, not sure what's the point of beating the ender dragon. You are supposed to win after hunters lost the track of you completely, after that you can do whatever you want anyway, like in the normal game.
Reminds me of one time in mcmanhunt where (I was the hunter) I just got stacked and ran 150 miles while the runner speedran the game, just for me to explode him with a bed in the end before literally any interaction
I think one of the biggest problems with the manhunt ruleset is that it doesn't require the runner to speedrun, instead it just encourages you to survive and eventually beat the game.
The rules are so true, it looks like he never fails, although some like covering portals would get repetitive, it also makes the game less enticing over the long run as so many strats get banned even if they didn’t fully work
Yeah, I want more real manhunt content. Bring it in. Try two or three hunters, don't have plot armor, let's roll with it Also I volounteer as a hunter if you're out of friends :D
I have a buddy I used to record manhunts with that was really good and we would spend hours every day doing attempts in 1v3 manhunt and get no uploadable videos because we didnt make it to the end. Unscripted can still have cool plays and intense fights it just takes a runner who takes their time outside the manhunts to learn obscure mechanics that can get them out of bad situations and learning to play safely
The new portals in the Nether thing is by far the most extreme difference. What it means is that the Nether is much more friendly for the runner because they can just subspace bubble their way out and be 5 miles away.
A real manhunt turns into a slog through the nether. Or the speedrunner dies right at the start after both players craft 2-shotting wood axes, with the laggy server being an insane equalizer of skill!
Yeah I think even Dream confirmed that they're not scripted but yeah there's the rules and also the hunters don't play optimally every single time. They stop chasing on purpose and let him build up on purpose. As far as I know, they actually do try to kill him though. But yeah they just reshoot obviously if he dies because it's entertainment
That is not how it goes. Its actually is like this:

Its definitely possible but you need to be facing literal octopuses on keyboards
@@sourswift in most manhaunts with average players the hunters will win much more times if they properly team up, for the runner to win it requires luck, some skill and or the hunters to make some blunders, thats what real manhounts look like most of the time
One thing I dislike about scripted manhunts is that like the colour crew, you'll have one guy who's really good and the moment the worst player is the speed runner he always some how manages to defeat the best players plus 2 other guys
love how you're talking about boosfer and yellow respectively but no need to say it out loud. the thing is that yellow and kierr are able to win their manhunts because they use really OP twists whereas boosfer sometimes loses because he doesn't usually use OP twists. Also if you look at their stats, boosfer has the highest win rate in one category and is near the top in all the other categories. I'm sure if you removed all OP loot twists, the stats would clearly favor boosfer as even in their manhunts he often utterly decimates them. One time yellowool had some "stupid doors teleport you" twist and boosfer decided for no reason at all to get full diamond and relentless hunt yellowool and kill him before yello could even enter the end lol
@@ethos8863 not at all, im talking about Bablu winning 1v9s against players whove beatn him so easily in 1v4 when they were speed running with a twist everyone could do. Most colour crew vids are scripted or have rules so the vids dont end early

Hello person from the Hopefully Quality Discord
When both players are equal skill level the manhunt becomes basically impossible, as once you kill the hunter once whilst you try to get wood what last low from a punching battle, they just quickly come back with full health to finish you off
I guess that's why you run really far and hope for like a shipwreck or smth
In vanilla minecraft that usually consists of just running in one direction for eternity though... or digging straight down... or basically any other boring but realistic strategy.
what if you let the runner, but not the hunter, know the seed in advance and practice?
Here before the stans reach this comment
@@Willerhide It's not like his friends are AI, they're human beings with limited patience and an eye for content. There is a server where manhunts exist.
I have used it multiple times.
Majority of the time once you kill someone 1-4x they leave and quit.
Most of the other time as hunter, if you have slight mc pvp skill the fight barley lasts 10 seconds.
Got to the point when I was hunter I just, made wooden axe and won.

i dont think theres anything wrong with the op plays rule or the resetting if he dies early, they do that to keep things fresh, why would we wanna watch a video with the same predictable op trap that we know is gonna kill him if it was op enough or why would we wanna watch him die 2 seconds in and the video ends

Love a manhunt that starts with "cry about it"
this reminds me of Nascar races. the most popular races are the ones with close finishes, but most have a clear winner
Sure he could. You can do crazier stuff than that with mobs
He's literally paying a guy to program mods for the manhunts(which he also cheats speedruns with.), so he very much mess with that too.
I was actually the one who scripted dream's videos so ye sorry about that

One thing I will say is the dynamic changes with multiple hunters because there is always a chase going on. The runner rarely has time to do things like stop and smelt.

I feel like an easier solution would be more easier challenges. That way, you will still have the thrill without worrying about video duration. Another could be teams where a certain amount of people are hunters and speed runners
i mean, either it is just a game of close following and punching, or it just turns into one PvP match, with the hunter gennerally losing since they had to spent their time running and catching up, rather than looting

a potential idea for a minecraft man hunt rule set
instead of a 1v1, you have 2 teams of 2+
2 players who need to beat the ender dragon without dieing
then 2+ hunters chasing after them
then, as an added twist
every time one of the ender dragon killer players die, they join the hunters team
Bro should get that guy who invented the manhunt tnt boomerang
4:30 funny of you to say that, 'cause I play minecraft for over 7 years now, and I only got to nether twice (didn't really go that well after)
I love how this just become you and your friend messing around and playing like you are doing a bet
I mean there's alot of youtubers who unscript and still has intense scenes
Pretty sure Kier and Dev are one of them
I've done a few and they do just boil down to killing the hunter at the beginning, usually there's some second encounter somewhere around the nether segment, and if you kill the hunter again they leave the game or you kill the ender dragon without ever seeing them again
pretty accurate to when i play
This is so much less stressful than an actual manhunt video and I like it
I hate playing manhunt with my cousin because of this. It's way more fun on paper than it actually is to play; at our skill levels either one of us dies really early and that's it, or nothing happens and it's just a normal Minecraft fast playthrough. (Or we're chasing each other the entire time and never progressing.) It's either beyond boring or super annoying.
5:09 IS THAT A GEOMETRY DASH REFERENCE
Yes
Yeah, for me, the funniest part of a manhunt would be running away and hiding from hunters, not sure what's the point of beating the ender dragon. You are supposed to win after hunters lost the track of you completely, after that you can do whatever you want anyway, like in the normal game.
That’d be too easy…
Reminds me of one time in mcmanhunt where (I was the hunter) I just got stacked and ran 150 miles while the runner speedran the game, just for me to explode him with a bed in the end before literally any interaction
he's back
true
Ngl if i was in a manhunt i would just try to get away at the start and then run away thousands of blocks and never see the hunters ever again
I think one of the biggest problems with the manhunt ruleset is that it doesn't require the runner to speedrun, instead it just encourages you to survive and eventually beat the game.
I half expected just five or so minutes of raw gameplay footage ending in a punched-off-a-cliff death.
I could be wrong but wasn't the reason they were able to find dream so quickly was because the hunters had a player tracker installed
5:25 you can fill the anchor with just obe glowstone
The rules are so true, it looks like he never fails, although some like covering portals would get repetitive, it also makes the game less enticing over the long run as so many strats get banned even if they didn’t fully work

Dream and his friends are entertainers and boy are those videos entertaining
I dont like how the man hunts were fake tho
Yeah, I want more real manhunt content. Bring it in. Try two or three hunters, don't have plot armor, let's roll with it
Also I volounteer as a hunter if you're out of friends :D
I have a buddy I used to record manhunts with that was really good and we would spend hours every day doing attempts in 1v3 manhunt and get no uploadable videos because we didnt make it to the end. Unscripted can still have cool plays and intense fights it just takes a runner who takes their time outside the manhunts to learn obscure mechanics that can get them out of bad situations and learning to play safely
Fun fact: Every Manhunt Dream has done 5v1 has ALWAYS BEEN ON EASY MODE, Even Techno can do better than that
I would getting killed by neutral condition first before killed by hunter
This isn’t a real manhunt, he has view bobbing turned on, how dare he. Shouldn’t he know to be extra kewl you have to turn off view bobbing?
The new portals in the Nether thing is by far the most extreme difference. What it means is that the Nether is much more friendly for the runner because they can just subspace bubble their way out and be 5 miles away.

I remember my friends made me play this together during quaratine, it was so boring
I wish the hunter gets to throw more hands while full-equipped, like the start of the manhunt having the hunter starting to fight already unequipped.
Me and my friends have to reveal coordinates, but the runner gets a sword
I’ve seen the hunters use a compass before to help with conflict and i’d like to see this with that added
