    Finding the Surface Area of a Half Cylinder.
    See all Surface Area lessons: vividmath.com/geometry/ge-sur...
    Steps:
    1. Find the radius of the half cylinder. Simply divide the diameter by 2 (recall that the radius is equal to half the diameter).
    2. Using the known values, solve for the area of the front semi-circle using the area of a semi-circle formula (1/2 x πr^2).
    3. Next solve for the rectangular bottom area using the area of a rectangle formula (length x width).
    4. Now we solve for the surface area of the cylindrical curved surface using the surface area of a cylinder formula (2πrh). Since this is a half cylinder we use the formula (1/2 x 2πrh).
    5. Finally, add all of the areas together.

    In this video example we use _π = 3.141592654_
    There are different variations of π you may use:
    Using _π = 3.14_ your answer may be slightly different.

    The easier way to do this question is: {this is the formula for a half cylinder}
    A = 2[1/2*PI*R Squared] + 1/2 (2*PI*R)*L*B*L
