    My Braun HC5090 stopped working completely. Even when it was plugged in, it was only flashing red light. I thought even if the batteries are dead it should work when plugged in, so I thought it was probably defective and was about to send it to the service. Then I found your video and decided to give a try, and voila, after replacing the batteries it is as good as new! This was my first time soldering and I was a bit stressed, but it was all good at the end. Thank you so much man, you're a lifesaver!

    Hi, thanks a lot for sharing this video. I have had the HC5050 for about 5 years and the batteries were almost dead and wouldn't charge anymore. I tried to get it fixed at the Braun service center in Guangzhou (I live in China) and they asked for around $40 for it. In the meantime, I bought a Panasonic trimmer and I am very happy with it. After watching your video, I decided to try to fix my old Braun HC5050 so I ordered the batteries from Taobao and they cost me $2 and today, finally I decided to replace the batteries.
    Dismantling was not a problem, except that the top cover parts fell apart, and that was complicated to put back together. Taking the parts apart, removing the old batteries, and installing the new ones was easy, and putting everything back together went smoothly except for the parts of the top cover which took a while to figure out and reassemble. I actually tested if the clipper was working before reassembling it by connecting it to power and it was ok. So, all in all, it was a good experience and I am very happy that I was able to fix my clipper by myself thanks to your video, and in only cost me $2 as I had all the other tools needed.
    Just a warning for other people, try to be very careful when disassembling and removing the top cover as it's not easy to figure out how to put back all the parts together.
    Thanks again.
    Sam

    Thanks a lot. My hair clipper just stopped working. Whole motor were in rust. I cleaned it off and lubed and it started working. Battery is still fine after 6 years.

    Thanks a lot for this video!! I have a different model of the braun trimmer with two 750mah (NiMH) batteries... Do you think I can replace it with a slightly higher mAh batteries but keeping the voltage same?

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  Рік тому +3

      The battery capacity doesn't matter, you can use any available to you. But the voltage and the type (chemistry) of batteries are very important. If the device is designed for NiMH batteries you can't use Li-ion, NiZn etc.

    Many thanks, worked well! Just one note - make sure the leads/lugs for charging are not bend and slide well on the pins when re-assembling the PCB in the housing.

    Hello and thank you for the video! I understand mine is not repairable, correct? It doesn't worth it, right?

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  Місяць тому

      If it's just a battery issue, then replacing it is definitely worth considering. However, if the problem is something more serious like the motor or the charger, it might make more sense to invest in a new shaver.

      I can't paste a photo here.. I opened it following your video and near to the charging there are 4 tiny chips burnt.. I guess I can't change them, they are too small..

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  Місяць тому +1

      @heraklismamantos4501 Then it's definitely not worth it. Those chips are hard to find, and you need a hot air station for proper repair.

    Tried to do this with my BT5010, unfortunately the shaver doesn't turn on anymore, not even with a DC supply. After inserting new batteries, I tried to clip them in place with pliers, I didn't think I created a short circuit but it got really hot on the bottom around the area where the other end of the batteries is connected on the PCB. I thought it was the batteries that got hot (logically if I actually created a short circuit), but apparently it's some other component that failed. It doesn't make much sense why would some of the components fail, even if there was a short circuit (between the ends of the batteries). It is what it is, I need to buy a new one. No idea why my repair failed, so be careful when doing this.

      @@ElectronicsComputers I'm sure, I checked twice. The transistor that connects the motor to the ground doesn't open, the gate / base appears to be directly connected to the power management IC CCE7101 which can be found only on Aliexpress for 5 EUR / $6, at which point I gave up, at least for now.

    Nice video, but unfortunately on my Braun 5050 the batteries are glued in place. It isn’t possible to remove them just by melting the solder.

    • @ElectronicsComputers
      @ElectronicsComputers  10 місяців тому

      They use a double sided tape usually between batteries and PCB. Just apply some tension to the battery and desolder one side and it will pop up, then desolder the other side.

      @@ElectronicsComputers Thanks for the short and concise video! Soldering the tabs to exisiting AAA Batteries was maybe not the best course of action since I exposed them to quite a lot of heat to get the solder to stick. But I guess I'll come back once those go bad and buy some with tabs (Or I have a reason to splurge on a spot welder lol).

    Next time use some TIN on soldering iron because IT will faster pass temperature (pushing hard soldering iron is not good idea)
