I have owned this car close to three years. And yes, I am one of the "gila" person, lol. I have been using the rocker button to do all the upshift and downshift myself for as long as I've driving this car, just like driving a manual, I never drive it in "D".
The reason being I don't like the logic of the gearbox, it upshift too early and it doesn't hold gear long enough for my preference. Furthermore, driving it manually (by holding the gear in first) also helps eliminate the juddering of the dual clutch box and much smoother in traffic jams. Well, this might sound troublesome for many drivers, but being a manual guy myself, I have no qualms doing all the gear shifting, just that I agreed with Bobby that the rocker switch is a stupid idea.
I love this car for its handling and punchy acceleration. This car is has an aggressive tail, it can actually induce a slight oversteer (for a front wheel drive car!) when you chuck it aggressively around a corners/ brake in mid corner. No other B segment offering in Malaysia, be it the Iriz (another very talented chassis, in fact it's a tad more comfort that the Fiesta but handles as good as), or the Mazda 2 can give me such fun.
The oversteer attribution on the Fiesta is very progressive and subtle, and it's not scary at all. This is the only front wheel drive car that I have driven, apart from the great Renault Megane RS, that can induce a oversteer in mid corners. But the oversteer in the Megane is quiet scary, and it needs a very skilful driver to tame it, but not on this Fiesta. The talent of this B299 chassis underpinning the Fiesta is really amazing. In fact, the newly launch MK 8 Fiesta in Europe still uses the B299 speaks volume on the potential of this chassis.
In short, I agree with most of what Bobby had said, I buy this car not for its practicality or anything good about the cabin, and its dated interior and ergonomics fell out of time. I love this car for its characters, its handling (most important to me) and that punchy little three pot engine. And It's also the only B segment under 100K in Malaysia that gives you SEVEN airbags (Mazda 2 gives you two) and it is the closet thing to a hot hatch under 100k that money can buy currently. It's not as thirsty or maintenance-intensive as a full fledge hot hatch.
As my ride is approaching the end of its warranty, I am researching some kedai potong in UK for a full manual transplant. I have identified two workshops in Klang Valley that can perform this job (and there are a handful of Malaysian Fiesta owners already did). Seriously, this car is best enjoyed with three pedals, the dual clutch simply hamstrung the true potential of this little gem.
Great review. Thanks Bobby : )

although your road test is in a 2017 Fiesta, l took delivery of my 1st Ford, a 2014 Fiesta 1.0 Ecoboost Powershift & I cant wipe the smile off my face ... & the room for a Small hatchback is amazing. l have used the Auto manually, but end up keeping it in Drive .. now where can I go today ???

nice review as always bobby. if you were to compare among civic, new mazda 3 2017 ( most probably you'd seen it in japan ) and ford focus, which would you prefer ? It would be nice to have some comparison videos as well for us consumers.

+Chan Yew Wah sharpest handling probably mazda or ford, interior build definitely mazda, practicality civic has no match as its huge. Comfort i think civic too, simple technology but everyday usable - civic; safety technology but you dont rasa - mazda; high tech stuff but you wont use - ford

Hi, Bobby. Love you video. Would like to ask. What are your thoughts on this car. If I were to buy it in 2019 as second hand car? 1.0 ecoboost vs 1.5 sport. Thanks

If you're going to review something, at least do some research first. I've been driving fiestas since the early 1980's. You're giving far too much wrong information about these vehicles. I hope you don't lead too many of your subscribers in the wrong direction.

+tasmedic well i'm from malaysia and this car was introduced back in 2010, which attracted many into the ford brand - a brand that only the ranger is well accepted over here

Interesting! I guess Ford must have missed out on a lot of sales by not exporting the Fiesta to Malaysia until now. Thanks for letting me know. Have a great day!

    BBC NEWS
HUNDREDS of Ford owners have been left thousands of pounds out of pocket after their vehicles suffered catastrophic failures, according to an investigation. The probe by BBC’s Inside Out will highlight serious faults with both the 1.0 and 1.6 Ecoboost engines for which Ford has previously demanded customers pay the full or part cost for their repair or replacement.
An overheating issue with Ford’s 1.0 litre engine has been causing havoc with many owners for years, but Inside Out found the company has been turning a blind eye.
“The cylinder head of an engine, basically that’s the top half of your engine, what we’re finding is they seem to be cracking,” said Chris Walker, an engine expert from Rochdale
“What we are finding is when it’s cracking, it’s allowing the coolant to go into the exhaust system. If it loses all its coolant, the engine will overheat and will eventually fail.”
In response to the findings of the BBC probe, Ford has now pledged to cover future repair costs, and revealed the policy will also apply to older cases where drivers were forced to cover costs themselves.

I own this car for 3 years and 105k km clocked. Been using chip tuning box for more than 20k km, and she is performing very well except one rear absorber damage during the warranty period. That's all!
