My Daddy loved Mario Lanza's amazing voice and his wonderful recordings, he listened to him daily..... I remember as a very small three year old child sitting at Daddy's feet on the sitting room rug listening to Mario Lanza every night before bed time, I have always loved this wonderful man... This song has a very special meaning for me and always helped me through emotional times in my own life... I was only eight when my Daddy passed, my Grandpa, my baby brother, then sixteen years later my baby daughter and this song has always helped me come through those losses... To this day I still listen to Mario Lanza every day and his exceptional voice thrills me every time and calms my own soul.

My late mother's greatest love (excluding my dad), not sure there has ever been a better looking leading man in opera with such an outstanding voice. Maybe some tenors were more technically gifted, I don't know. But none sung with such passion & warmth as Mario Lanza. everytime I hear his voice, I think of my mam.

Astounding voice, astounding phrasing, astounding breath control. His singing had ups and downs his last year or two, but this Student Prince album is incredible. In fact, his voice had become significantly darker and richer since his recordings for the movie version were made. Some might suggest that by 1959 Lanza's voice had grown well beyond the 'light opera' role of the Prince, but his singing is so darn magnificent here, Lanza automatically becomes the Gold Standard. IMHO, of course :)
