The difference between the old and the new is 105/95 bhp. But only at the top rpm's. The ECU cuts of at a certain rpm level.. So if you do a flash that rev-limiter can be removed and you have the 105. Otherwise the power curve is identical. I tried the 890 and the 790 back to back and I went with the 790. More fun, more rock'n'roll. To me, the 890 was a bit more BMW-ish somehow. Thank you!
Ive got the duke 125 im constantly willing it to go faster, one day ill have one of these either the 790 or 890. Great video answering all of my questions about these bikes 👍
have you checked camshafts yet? They are basically all faulty from the factory. According to KTM its not cams but owners say otherwise (alternatively its lubrication of cams that is faulty)
Nice knowledgeable review. I have a Duke 890r and I'm amazed at the fuel consumption when ridden with a mixture of sport and touring. I don't get near what the computer says but rarely does it drop below 60 mpg uk real world calculations.
Thanks. How's the 890R? Like it? With your extra BHP I think you have a near perfect engine. Plenty of power for the road but coupled with decent economy on mixed riding.
That's a slip on exhaust can? Wow, it's loud when the engine gets going! Great video, thank you! I been looking at the 790 - 23 model. I see the KTM has the 23 890 DukeR on sale at just under $2K off - $10, 999 USD. Maybe with the re-intro of the 790 std Duke, and new 990 Duke, the 890 series goes away? Because you have to know there will be a 990 Duke R or Evo. But for me as a casual "older" rider, the 23 790 checks all the boxes. Plus, it is on sale too for $7,999 USD (US - Texas Prices) At basically $3K less money, do I really need the 890 DukeR spec to have a good time? And I could get some of the other goodies, like quick shifter, cruise, (tech package) and USB charge plug and a new jacket to boot!
Yeah just an end can. Adds a nice bit of bass but not obnoxious. Great choice on the new 790. Are they offering it with uprated suspension internals for extra? Gives you the adjustable suspension like the 890R but without the higher cost. I also wonder if the 890 will disappear? $7999 sounds like the bargain of the century.
@@RoadstoRidges No, suspesion upgrades, standard 790 Duke. however, I think you can order through dealer and have dealer install. They used to have listed on their website but it was hard to find. Now I can't find anything other than some triple clamp components for suspension. They actually had 2 upgrades; one with standard adjustment for spring preload and rebound dampeningh adjustment. They also listed a "premium" one with slow and fast rebound adjustments. of course there were no ptrices listsed, you had to get that from their dealers. Maybe they took away for the 2023? Can't see why they'd do that, being that motorcyclists love to upgrade their bikes
Premium rings a bell. I think Lamb Chops Rides reviewed the 2023 model on a KTM day to Wales. He hopped between the stock bike and the one with the premium suspension upgrade. The stock suspension is still great but unadjustable. You're buying an awesome bike.
I have a BMW S1000RR (fastest liter bike in the U.S. currently), and I could buy any duke I wanted, and I chose the 790 because I like the more "challenging" gear ratio, ride style, meaning it takes more than just pulling the throttle to go fast. I think it makes it more fun to ride than a larger bike.

Great choice John. The 790 is an amazing package. Did you go with the tech pack?

The 125 is an awesome bike. My Mrs did the NC500 on hers and we rode up from the Midlands in England.
Enjoy your Duke.
@@RoadstoRidges yeah it's a great bike even though it's slow always puts a smile on my face
7 minutes in, I’m a fan!
Thanks very much
I’ve got the 21 plate 790, changed the air filter for a K&N, which lets the bike breathe easier and gives more midrange pull. Excellent bike
Fantastic. Any change in induction noise?
They're an amazing bike.
What colour have you gone for?
@@RoadstoRidges Induction sounds much better, more angry, very addictive and eggs you on to keep it pinned.
Orange and black for me

@@hagestad We did have the valve clearances done the start of the year and there was no premature wear on the cams.
@@stuarthall2523 The bike already had a lovely snarl on throttle so increased induction noise will make it a devil.
Great colour choice by the way 🙂

Looks absolutely sick in black
Thanks man. I really like the stealthier look with a few reminders in orange that it's a KTM.
@@RoadstoRidges I have a little ktm too.. I'm going to black it out.
@@JH09SUMIT Brilliant. Which model? Would love to see a pic of it
@@RoadstoRidges Its a 2016 RC 200, looks exactly like the older gen RC390 sold globally.
@@JH09SUMIT Very nice bike. Hope you're getting out and riding it as often as possible
Nice enjoyable detailed review not your usual hooligan look at me wheelie reviews👍
Thank you.

That's really interesting to hear Josh. Do you prefer the 790 for certain riding scenarios over your S1000RR?
Just bought the 2024 Duke390/Blue, I love kTm😁.
Beautiful bike. You'll have a lot of fun. Enjoy.
They are awesome. I've had one for 3 years and 45k kilometres. Zero issues. Just change the oil regularly.
Link to bar end mirrors
i have them but i dont recommend it, they will loosen pretty fast
They were some cheapo Ebay things. Not recommended.
Good test and info. Some are not useful😊
The scalpel .. 😂🤣. More a cheese grater
