Im from New Mexico, about an hour from the Trinity site. This movie was huge for us because we always knew how important that time at Los Alamos was but not a lot of people outside of the area did. Everyone knows the outcome, but not how it happened. I love that Nolan put in the line where Opp says if he could combine physics with New Mexico his life would be perfect. Because he says that with such a dream in mind, like you said, but little did he know the true reason it would one day come true...building a weapon of mass destruction there that would forever change the world. His legacy is a polarizing one here in New Mexico, personally I believe that if we didn't develop the bomb the "bad guys" could have, which would have been a much different world we live in today. This to me is Nolans best movie, its a toss up between Interstellar, but because I am born and raised in NM it hits a lot more at home for me personally.
I enjoyed this movie so much. A sucker for science and how this world works. I also am interested in how humanity works, whats right whats wrong, the implications of actions. This was the perfect movie for me.
I had watched videos of Oppenheimer and the bomb prior to going to the movies. This is a great movie adaptation.
It really makes you think. Oppie might not have been a pure soul, had a sketchy personality like you said, but did he really have an option? It's war, and when it's war I personally think, right and wrong is already of the table, someone is going to suffer 100%. The atomic bomb was inevitable. At that point when you cannot avoid massive destruction, you can only kinda make sure you are going to be the one having the upperhand.
Atleast during the building of the bomb he was a purely in his scientific state. Probably that's the only positive he could take back. Be on the frontier of science. Whereas a lot of the politicians had 0 regards for the science. And you know the world is still same that way, it is like that today too in so many situations. I guess it always will be like that.

The bomb scene with that music had me shriveling up into a ball of tension 😭such a great scene.

I liked your final conclusions, the only thing idk how you reach the conclusion that Oppenheimer may have been faking his regret or his guilt, because neither does the movie or the reality suggest that, I know that you don’t know much about him in reality but while it’s true that he liked attention and recognition, he was eaten up by guilt because of the spread of atomic bombs and the possible imminent end of the world. Either way nice vid bro

In regards to the 'faking the guilt', it's been over a month since I filmed this video but I don't think that was my interpretation of it. I think I was talking about how that's what Strauss believes is happening. He gives that big monologue where he says that Oppenheimer "Doesn't regret Hiroshima" and that he'd "Do it all again", he believes that Oppenheimer doesn't have those regrets.
Me personally, I believe he did definitely feel that immeasurable guilt, and obviously Strauss was super biased in his viewpoint because he's a self-centered dude who wanted the attention for himself.
If my discussion implied that I thought Oppenheimer was faking it, I did not mean that. Oopsie. But I do think the inclusion of that Strauss monologue allows for it to be something we can at least discuss.
An amazing Horror/Historical movie that left me stunned
This and Chernobyl fall in both categories and are amazing horror/historical pieces of media. Oppenheimer may have cinched it with that end scene alone.

you're saying the opposite, Alfred Nobel wanted his inventions to help people. The purpose of dynamite was for building and mining activities. He was deeply hurt when we started to use to cause others harm.
@@justnyte4441 im under the notion that Nobel created his awards after he read an accidental obituary of him that called him "the merchant of death", he was so devastated by this that we started the awards in order to celebrate science and progress.
