It's wild to finally see the convo at the end of the film and realize these 2 titans of the 20th century were talking about humanities eventual self inflicted doom, meanwhile Strauss is in the background thinking "That jerk Oppenheimer probably told Einstein I have a tiny wiener.... GRRRR!!!!"
I think that’s what’s so funny about this movie. We see 3 sides. Oppenheimer building it. His torment. And then Strauss thinking it’s all about him like he’s that important😭😭😭
The scariest part about this ending, which most people who watched the movie realised, is that we are currently living in the moments before this could happen
Same, i watched it in the cinema not knowing what the movie was about, best choice ever. also if i was a content creator i would also edit the face Albert made when walking away to put in. Makes the reaction complete right
When Christopher Nolan says Oppenheimer is the most important man in history, I think he means that he's the one who kickstarted humanity's extinction.
Alfred Nobel felt guilty by creating dynamite so he made Nobel Prize to recognize advancements in all areas of stuides for the betterment of humanity...now imagine the guilt Oppenheimer felt. The mental trauma of this reality he helped bring into this world is terrifying
Actually, I believe it was Hitler, because we would not have moved toward that eventuality where it not for fighting him and the Nazis. Although, in reality, I think even he was an eventuality of the insane greed of humans over the eons.
its interesting since the atomic bombs can end humanity(if they build more up anyway since atm it couldnt now im not sayin g it wouldnt be devestating) but they are also the things that have stopped ww3 and ww3 would be devestating anyway since even without nukes we have bioweapons that can kill millions in the hundreds of millions
@@Objective_Piece8285 Nobel didn't feel guilty. He created dynamite for use in mining originally. Others then turned into a massive weapon of destruction. Later in life it was falsely reported he died, and his hometown paper did an article on him basically calling him the Merchant of Death. He realized THAT was unfortunately his legacy, regardless of his intent, so he set up the Nobel Prizes with his vast wealth, so that his legacy/name wouldn't be tarnished long after he was gone. The difference between them is Oppenheimer set out to build a weapon of mass destruction. His creation wasn't appropriated or misused.
I find it fascinating that some people watching the ending focus on the legacy for Oppenheimer as an individual and some focus on the legacy for the world.
this is why i’m so confused when people say “it’s just a movie with people talking in a boardroom” this entire movie is our past present and future. This is real life damager that effects everyone and idfk how they miss that
Albert Einstein and Robert Oppenheimer are talking and that mf actually thinks they talked about him. These were 2 of the greatest minds of our time. You're not that guy, and the fact that he actually harboured a grudge against for him god knows how long when Oppenheimer was literally carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders
When I finished watching this masterpiece in theaters, you could feel the dread from everyone in the room. I’m glad that the reactors also felt dread and you can visibly see it
It was a simple yet profound comment at the end. Incredible filmography, really has you thinking about humanity and your own mortality as well seeing oppo’s guilt
Easily the most _elegant_ movie ending I’ve seen. It wraps up several plot threads, answers some key questions, and leaves one hell of a lasting impression to contemplate after the credits roll.
My favourite movie. Cillian Murphy is superb in this film, and I gotta admit when I first saw this and saw oppenheimer as an old man, I immediately broke.
The spectre of what he is imagining is a reality closer for all of us living today than most of us have ever seen. It brings me to tears when I watch it because although it’s just a film ending, those words are so very, very powerful and true. Seeing the reaction of everyone on here and reading the comments, so many feel the same.
One of the last things JFK did before "a quick trip to Dallas" was sign the award for Oppenheimer. JFK lost his older brother (Joseph Kennedy Jr) in ww2 in the Pacific and the brother that their father had originally groomed for office so he knew the sacrifices that Oppenheimer did for his country and he wanted to personally award him. But he was assassinated in Dallas, So even though Oppenheimer's award was signed by John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson is the one that had to present it to him..
What’s crazy is in the opening scene you see Oppenheimer staring at the raindrops in curiosity and wonder of chemical chain reactions. In the last scene he looks in terror at the rain drops in the pond; but all he “sees” is the endless ripples of nuclear explosions until the entire world is consumed in flames.
You know Oppenheimer stole the truth for the ones he said he was "trying to help" proves to me the truth was not in his hands it is and will only be the death of their own selfishness. I can't wait for "them to admit their wrongs"
Currently there are over 23,000 nuclear weapons in the World. Owned by Russia, the USA, the UK, France, India, China, Pakistan, North Korea and Israel.
it's so remarkable to see how self centered some are to speak out their generic comment, seemingly clever, completely ruining a moment worthy of total silence and appreciation.
its a great ending. TO BE FAIR even if it took LONGER with deviation of about 5 to 10 years, do you think atomic bomb wouldnt be made if Oppenheimer didnt exist? because i genuinely dont think so. someone somewhere that maybe have less moral and more crazy will make it and the outcome will still be the same. i mean…the allies would win regardless atomic bomb were made or not. the bomb isnt even directed to the NAZI. its to Japan. a country that is so far on the east and only big conflict with US is Pearl Harbour no? if…NAZI lose first, wouldnt japan surrender regardless what US do to Heroshima or Nagasaki? and why 2 bombs? isnt 1 threatening enough in their situation?

Lmao 😂😂😂
😭😭🤣
Even though that conversation is fictional
well, its a fictional conversation, but you get the message of oppenheimer and Einstein

This might go down as one of the most iconic endings in film history. It’s that good.
No 😂
Why not@@KimiRai-lf3gn
@@KimiRai-lf3gnthen which?
It’s a Christopher Nolan movie, ofc
@@KimiRai-lf3gn Are you one of those who know shit about films? :)
I got chills in the movie theater and walked out quiet. Crazy how we’re still living in the aftermath with today’s current events

Grow up

Atleast oppenheimer realised what he created was very dangerous , teller just jumped in joy when he created the H bomb

I've seeing this end over and over AND IT DON'T GET BAD
I still remember the packed cinema leaving all speechless without anyone saying a word
One of my favourite movies of recent years.
The dread on his face knowing he’s responsible for humanities inevitable extinction is haunting, great acting!
That end is a warning, a f... warning, and none of the powerfull are listening
The powerful are always listening. They just don’t care
More of an announcement
When im leaving the theater, i looking at the sky and thinking "is this safe? Knowing all of those information from the movie"

i kind of want salmon and potato salad now....
Pick Sockeye Salmon over Pink Salmon, it's the better choice.
Everyone at the start of the scene: *happy because they can finally know what they were talking about* 😃
Everyone at the end of the scene: 😕
One of the best parts about this movie is the amazing soundtrack, just beautiful
Genuinely the best movie ending of the century so far
Ooff this is definitely up there but my opinion is lotr return of the king had the best ending imho

Everyone seems to have lost their words while watching the ending scene where the earth turns into a sea of fire. It's a scary ending.

They really do punish people and then allow them “redemption” to make themselves feel better.

if these people really haven't seen Oppenheimer in theaters I do feel pity. watching that thing in the cinema was out of this world
There should be a window in the corner of the screen displaying Natalie Gold's perfect teeth.
it's so remarkable to see how self centered some are to speak out their generic comment, seemingly clever, completely ruining a moment worthy of total silence and appreciation.
And it's still hanging over people's heads.
Humanity has made a weapon capable of destroying the surface of a planet, and we choose to aim it at ourselves.

Will the end of this humanity begin with the conflict in Ukraine?
I afraid it is true Ukraine it is just the beginning
I don't know. But there's a lot of people pushing for it. Unfortunately
