Brilliant video AND no crap music that goproers for some reason feel compelled to add. This is what a fast ride feels and sounds like, there is no other thrill like it. I even thought we were going over around the thirty eight second mark and held onto my chair! Now, if only I can find one with a few jumps....
This how our ancestors got around for thousands of years, up until recently. Much better than a car, because your ride also doubles as your loyal living breathing friend.
Staying on! Need major core, arm, shoulder, and leg strength especially in the 2 point jockey position. Only knees touch the saddle. Never know when a horse might take a wrong step, stumble, spook.
It's a physical activity. Imagine sitting on a moving bike attached to a car going 45mph and the only thing you have to keep you on is two irons for your feet and a tiny seat you cannot sit on. Oh, and the car will speed up if you squeeze with your legs too hard or pull on the handles. Also, sometimes the bike likes to rear up or take a giant buck with you just because. Yup, totally not difficult, right?
+Yes, it is thrilling.Wind blowing in your your hair and eyes,, and the hoofs are thudding in such fast rhythm, it feels faster than can be conveyed on the video!
It's wonderful. The live animal with a heart and mind of it's own. It's a shared experience. You can always tell when the horse is full of joy and loving the gallop. It can be messy though, mud in your face, wind and rain, but all part of the exhilarating experience.
I love videos like this one, it brings back memories of what it felt like to be riding my own horse 25 years ago. I bought him when he was about a year old, raised him to 2 1/2, slow broke him gently for riding. I rode him almost daily. To say we bonded would be an understatement, I loved that horse. I'd whistle for him from the back porch and he'd answer with a whinny from the far end of the pasture down by the creek and come running to meet me at the barn. Sadly the day came after 3 more years when, due to my worsening neurological disorder I could no longer care for him properly nor mount him to go riding, and I was forced to sell him.
Perspective on Speed : When he won the Kentucky Derby, Secretariat set a new record of 1:59 2/5 for the 1 1/4 mile race. He was clocked at 36 mph when he passed the grand stand and 39 mph and accelerating at the finish.
Beautiful, starts out at a nice easy breeze, slowly accelerates, almost a full run, but this is not as fast as this horse can run. Put another TB with him and you will see another gear. He is very sensitive to the bit, still has a soft mouth. Impressive. This is a great example of why anyone who isn't familiar with ex racehorses shouldn't try to retrain one fresh off of the track without experienced help. And this horse is under complete control by the rider. Nice ride, thank you for sharing.
Thank you for taking me the best ride of my life on a horse! I couldn't have done this without you, the rider the jockey!! Really, I'm a chunky Dunk from Texas so, ihe wouldn't be able to do his top speed since he would have had a little drag which, my fault!! So, thanks for doing this b/c its almost as close as I can get to actually seeing, the feeling and excitement as if I were riding myself!! I almost can feel the wind on my face amd smell the weather.
Wow! I have always wanted to hear that sound on filtered, uncut or otherwise messed with. That was amazing! I can’t wait until I get home off the road and can listen to this over headphones. Thanks for sharing this!
+247ebay it depends on the horse's pace and what would be defined as a full gallop. All out max galloping won't last much longer than 1/8 of a mile but if paced to an even submax gallop, they can go for miles.
How many other half ton + animals can run this fast? For their size they are very fast. And not only that but they do it while carrying a rider or pulling a cart. So yes I do think it's amazing how fast they can run and how hard they can work, physically I think they are amazing. And "turd" really? What are you 9?
That was awesome. Felt very real. I could feel the transition from fast dial up into turbocharged gallop down the stretch that's a really powerful sensation Beyond top of a horse when he transitions in the super turbocharged it's amazing the power you have underneath yourself the power of the horse very exhilarating magical also a bit scary
I galloped on a horse once in my life when riding a friends horse. She used to be a race horse before she injured herself, and holy cow....they may only go 40 mph or a little faster but when you're on the back of them you feel like you're going 80mph.
This is incredible footage and a nice jockey with a good position no doubt, my first gallops were incredible :) definitely do it if you haven't already
There really is nothing like the rush of a horse galloping flat out. Motorcycle isn't the same nor a car... really it's in a class of its own. Well worth learning to ride to experience. I used to exercise a former race horse... Would take him to the far corner of the mile field and let him rip! He knew he was going to get a gallop when I'd shorten my stirrups up, and he'd get all light on his feet and happy. Then he would leap off on the first stride - just like he was coming out of the starting gates...
wheeeee! Likes to RUN! That was COOL! Neat to see thru helmet-cam!! The wind was rushing by, just like on a motorcycle. Nice, cushy track, too! You are so BLESSED to be able to ride like that! Thanks so much for posting!! ~ from Minnesota

***** Honestly I like the Sony better but if you are looking for even greater resolution, the GoPro has 2x HD. Check the Specs on the GoPro Hero 3 black and you will see they offer 2700 HD at 30 fps (frames per second) or even 4000 HD at 15 fps. They have improved on the camera with the upgraded GoPro Hero 3+ which does have more options and a better quality lens and stabilization and they are releasing the GoPro Hero 4 soon. That being said, Sony now has released the Sony HDR AS30 which adds GPS and from I understand, on screen speed recording as an option. For the price and doing what I want to do, the Sony Action Camera is a way better value for equal, if not better video quality for less than half the price of the GoPro Hero 3. With the 2 new cameras, I couldn't tell you since I have not tried them yet. Check the specs on each camera and see which one offers you what you want.
Thank you very much for the answer. After watching many video reviews of both brands I am going with the Sony AS15, just bought it from Amazon. Again, thank you!

Sara Mathena that takes sooo much skill and even professionals can have a hard time with galloping like this but good choice anyway
