Quick question, I can use a retinol after applying this right? I know it wasn’t mentioned on the conflicts slide, but I just want to double check. So like: Cleanse Lactic acid 5% Retinol 0.2% Moisturiser Would this work?
Hello! Your video was super helpful and informative! My main concern for my skin is blackheads and skin texture! I just bought the lactic acid treatment and niacinamide and I want to incorporate them into my skincare routine! My skin care routine is as follows: AM: -Cerave foaming facial cleanser -Witch Hazel -aczone (prescribed by my dermatologist) -Tatcha water cream moistuizer -SPF PM: -Farmacy Green Clean (to remove any makeup) -Cerave foaming facial cleanser -Witch Hazel -Epiduo forte (occasionally, also prescribed by dermatologist) -Peter Thomas Roth green relief moisturizer I just want to make sure nothing will conflict with the products, and if they will I can make sure to cut them out of my routine. I love your channel you’ve gained another subscriber keep doing what you’re doing!! 💗
Hey😊 For how long do you use this routine? And do those products work for your skin concerns? Well, I recommend that you talk to your dermatologist if it is fine to include the Niacinamide and Lactic Acid in your routine, to make sure that you won't come across any issues since you're using two prescribed products to treat acne. Also, I wouldn't recommend using Witch Hazel (in general) but mostly not in your PM routine when using the Lactic acid since the Ordinary doesn't recommend using multiple Acids in one routine. This is what your skincare routine will look like with the Niacinamide and Lactic Acid: AM: -Cerave foaming facial cleanser -Witch Hazel - Niacinamide -Aczone -Tatcha water cream Moisturizer -SPF PM: -Farmacy Green Clean -Cerave foaming facial cleanser - Lactic acid (when you're not using the Epiduo Forte) -Epiduo Forte -Peter Thomas Roth green relief Moisturizer Hope this helps🥰

Oh wow I love how detailed and straightforward you go into the product! I just got the lactic acid and hyaluronic acid from the ordinary. I have no idea how to use them haha Thank you for sharing this info💗
I just got a new one but not pretty sure of how many drops will be perfect. Your channel is so helpful for people who just start skincare journeys. Thank you so much!
Hey! :) Thank you! You probably need to use more than 3 drops. Use about 4-6 drops for your face and neck as its texture is very thin. I did a new video about it just recently! :)
Perfect timing my lactic acid just came today and thank you for the informative vids I love how you get straight to the point 💕 also should I use the azelaic acid and glycolic acid in the morning and then apply the lactic acid in the evening?
Hello again, 😀you shouldn't use multiple acids in one routine. You can alternate between the acids. Like this: Pm1 1.Wash your face 2. Azelaic Acid Pm2 1. Wash your face 2. Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid 3. Granactive Retinoid 2% 4. Optional Hyaluronic Acid or Moisturizer Edit: And do not forget to patch test especially with the acids and the retinoid :)
I’m so grateful for you. I’m confused about a lot and trying to get better. I want to start chemical exfoliating cause I’ve wasted A LOT on DIYs (dangerous) but my night face moisturizer has Niacinamide and Hyaluronic acid. How do I introduce this to my routine and moisturize? I have combination skin.
Hey😊 Thank you!🥰 Have you already bought one of the Ordinary exfoliators? If not, I recommend starting with Mandelic Acid which exfoliates the skin in a gentle way and still evens out the skin tone. I used it myself for an entire month, along with other Ordinary products as it was a routine for my skin concerns and I loved it a lot!😊 The fact that you have a moisturiser that has already Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide in it is great! You would use the exfoliator after cleansing but before the moisturiser in your PM routine😊
Hey, 😀I used random products from The Ordinary for a whole month 😆, Basically the once that I showed on a daily base on my UA-cam channel. But I will do a short video about it in the coming days :)
The instructions on the box says “Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.” I thought it had to be rinsed out? Im confused.
No, this means that you should only use it when needed, so as long as your skin needs it, use it, otherwise stop it. Leave it on the skin, there is no need to rinse it off! It's a leave-on exfoliant, not like the Ordinary Peeling Solution :)
i understand that we leave the lactic acid on the skin, but do we jsut wash it off in the morning? i know it sounds dumb, but im overthinking it. your video is super helpful. loved it !!
Yes, when you're doing your pm routine (and use the Lactic Acid) you're leaving it on the skin for overnight and then wash your face again in the morning before starting with your AM routine😊
I also have the niacinemide solution, and I was wondering which one I should use first? Usually I put niacinemide on first and then use a moisturizing cream but I’m not sure how to add lactic acid into my routine.
Since lactic acid is an exfoliant (water-based), it should go on as a first step. Cleanser Toner (Soothing toner) Exfoliant (Lactic Acid) Serums (Water-Based, Anhydrous Solutions + Oil Formulations) Moisturizer&Suspensions You can also watch this video for more information: How to Create a Skincare Routine With The Ordinary Products - A Beginners Guide: ua-cam.com/video/png_aAg5B0A/v-deo.html
@@ceria797 You don't have to use a toner, but it can be very beneficial to use it before applying your exfoliant! Keep in mind, the Ordinary toning solution is a toner and exfoliant in one, so you would need t use one from a different brand.
Hi love the videos you do such great demonstrations, do I use the lactic acid in the morning and at night or just in the morning and how many times a day should I use my Niacinamide serum
If you can, I would recommend using the Lactic Acid in the evening. Niacinamide can be used daily in the morning and/or evening whatever works the best for you. If you want to start off slowly, you can also only use it once per day😊
Hi. I'm seventeen years old and this is my first time using acid.So what ordinary exfoliation product do u recommend for me plss?I have very bad uneven skin tone too
As a beginner, I recommend Mandelic Acid since it is very mild and usually very well tolerated. But it depends on your skin concerns; if you have acne-prone oily skin, it may be best to use Salicylic Acid. But it's individual :) With Mandelic Acid, you can't go wrong! :) This was the routine when I started with their products: The Ordinary Review Before and After - 31 Days - 31 Pictures: ua-cam.com/video/s3PX-PavgFo/v-deo.html
Helloo Melissa, thank you so much for the video❤️ I wanted to ask you if it would be ok to apply some moisturizer after the lactic acid? So, to include it in the routine after cleansing and before moisturizing.
Use it in your PM routine😊 - Cleanse - Lactic Acid - Alpha Arbutin - (Optional) Oil and/or moisturiser But you can use the Alpha Arbutin in the morning as well, this depends on what else you use and when you want to use it😊 I recommend using Alpha Arbutin once per day (at the beginning) but can be used daily so, that your skin can get used to it and then you may want to use it twice per day😊 Also, Lactic Acid can also be used daily but if you're fairly new to this product - start with 2-3 times per week and slowly increase it😊
Can I apply a moisturizer after using the lactic acid?? And is my routine enough? Am CeraVe hydrating cleanser CeraVe moisturizing lotion Pm CeraVe hydrating cleanser CeraVe moisturizing lotion
Hey :) Yes, that's fine. Apply Lactic Acid after cleansing but before your moisturiser :) The routine looks good, but it also depends on your skin concerns and what you want to treat :)
Hey Melissa, big fan here :D I just did the chemical peel (aha30%) and was wondering when to use the lactic acid 10% (i have this one) in the future. Would you say every two days? Is doing the chemical peel today a problem, should I leave a few days before the next lactic acid application? Tysm!!
And hello again 😆 , you can use the lactic acid on the days when you are not using the peeling solution. It is a very gentle exfoliator and can be used on a daily base :)
hi! so i’ve never used the lactid acid 5% before, i just have acne scars now. do you recommend me going to straight to the 10% one or the 5%? please reply 🤍
Hi! I just discovered your channel and find it very insightful! I have a combination acne prone skin and would like to make my skin texture smoother by using AHA’s. (I am already using PC BHA and Benzoyl Peroxide to tackle my acne). Would you recommend using Lactic acid or would Mandelic acid be more suitable? Thank you so much!
Have a look at Mandelic Acid which is the gentlest before using anything else :) Make sure to use it in a separate routine from the Paula's Choice BHA or replace it with Mandelic Acid :) Btw, how does the PC Benzoyl Peroxide treatment performs? :) I really want to try it but I can't get it here :(
You are fine to use them :) Here are the correct steps: Cleanser Toner (Soothing toner) Exfoliant (Lactic Acid 10%) Serums (Rosehip Seed oil) Moisturizer&Suspensions

No, of course not; your application method is fine. Just do the one that you like the most. I do have an older video, and the information is still accurate :) see here: How to Apply The Ordinary Serum on Face - Is There a Correct Way to Apply it?: ua-cam.com/video/8RRINnhgqxw/v-deo.html
hey melissa i got three ordinary products today and i’m not sure how to use them in order or separately. i got the Niacininamide 10% + Zinc 1%, hyaluronic acid 2%+ B5, Lactic acid 10%+HA
Hello again :) You can use them in the same routine or for example like this: AM: Cleanser Hyaluronic Acid 2% Niacinamide 10% (SPF) PM: Cleanser Lactic Acid 10% (Optional Hyaluronic Acid 2%) Niacinamide 10% However, if you have never used any acids before, I recommend trying a patch test first. Also, use it 2-3 times a week and then apply it more often if needed. You have to see what works best for your skin. It all depends on the skin concerns that you have. Some general information: It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing." Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!! Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ua-cam.com/video/r04W7rQV1R0/v-deo.html) "Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ua-cam.com/video/l_C7HtO826A/v-deo.html) If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another. Hey, I’m actually going to start using the lactic acid 5% today, but I want to know if I can switch between this and the ordinary azelaic acid suspension 10% every other day.
Yes, that's fine. Or use Azelaic Acid in the AM (depending on the rest of your routine). And Lactic Acid in the PM. If you are new to Lactic Acid, you may want to use it 2-3 times per week for a while and see how your skin reacts to it before using it may be more often during the week :) Also, some people can tolerate Lactic Acid and Azelaic Acid in the same routine, but this depends on your skin tolerance :)
Hi! I am inexperienced in using acids, I have recently purchased the 5% lactic acid + HA, the niacinimde + zinc solution, and hyaluronic acid. I am planning on using the niacinimide and zinc in the morning after using the hyaluronic acid. Followed by my moisturizer and sunscreen. And then in the night repeating the same steps minus the sunscreen. When and how often should I be using the lactic acid, considering I’m inexperienced and have dry skin? Thanks!
Hello 😀 AM: Clean Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide (Optional Moisturizer) SPF PM: Clean Lactic Acid 5% ( It's excellent for dry skin, and you can use it on a daily base! www.paulaschoice.de/en/all-about-exfoliants) Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide (Optional Moisturizer) About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. I have just started using the ordinary products, started with the retinol with squalane and I love it! I have slight rocesia/ezecma on my cheeks and sometimes can get it around my eyes. I usually have dry skin and I'm finding that foundation etc isn't sitting right on my skin so I've kinda just given up with that and really started to focus on my skincare routine etc as I'm almost 30 and not realized until now how important your skin base is. There's so many products of the ordinary that it can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out what I need lol. My skin can be a little sensitive sometimes but is pretty good with most things luckily
Quick question. I have the glycolic acid, lactic acid, retinoid and Niacinamide products from the ordinary but I have no idea how to use them together. I also have the the aha+bah product. How would you layer these product and how often should I use each?
Hey, have a look at the following video: How to Create a Skincare Routine With The Ordinary Products - A Beginners Guide: ua-cam.com/video/png_aAg5B0A/v-deo.html
hey Melissa, I had recently faced skin reaction from using The Ordinary's peeling solution. I have stopped using it and my skin is much better. the question is, would the lactic acid 5% be gentle on my skin? as I'm scared to use a direct acid on my face.
Well, it's difficult to say as the peeling solution includes AHA (Glycolic/Lactic/Tartaric/Citric), 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid (Salicylic Acid)...so you may have reacted to the strength of it or one of the specific acids... One acid that's really gentle is Mandelic Acid which I like a lot too!😊
Hello Ahmad, No, you don't have to, but if you want to use an exfoliant, you can use Lactic Acid. Exfoliant/Lactic Acid = For example, to eliminate dead skin cells and increase skin hydration. So you can apply it like this: Cleanser Lactic Acid 5% Hyaluronic Acid Niacinamide (If you have oily skin, you can add an antioxidant such as Pycnogenol 5% or Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid 3%) (If you have dry skin, you can add a moisturizer suitable for dry skin) Generally speaking, there is no need for the last steps; however, see how your skin behaves and adjust it based on your skin needs.
@@victoriatlifts Do you mean the order I listed above? The Ordinary is not a toner as we know it as it still exfoliates the skin and contains 7% of Glycolic Acid...you can either use Lactic Acid or Glycolic Acid in your routine..using both would be too strong for the skin, which may can also irritate the skin as it's like you would double exfoliate... If you are looking for a toner, use one that doesn't contain AHA or BHA in it, when using either Lactic or Glycolic Acid. I like for example the Paula's Choice ENRICHED CALMING TONER😊
@Ema Landeka Yes, that's what I meant with temporarily flushing. But it is harmless according to what I have read. It can also happen when using Lactic Acid.
thank you so muuch for this video!! I recently purchased some the ordinary products and i would love some help with the order to apply them :) Acide lactique 10% + HA, 100% organic cold-pressed rose hip seed oil, Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA thank you so muuch!! Also my skin is acne prone and combination type, any other things that would be good to use would be awesome!! :)
Thank you🥰 You can use the Niacinamide once or twice per day/daily, however, if you're new to it, I recommend using it once per day until your skin has adjusted to it before using it twice per day. Also, if you're new to acids, I recommend using them 2-3 times per week at the beginning so that your skin can adapt to it before you're using it daily😊 You could use it like this: AM Routine: - Cleanse - Niacinamide - (Optional) TO NMF Moisturiser - SPF PM Routine: - Cleanse - Lactic Acid - (Niacinamide) - Rose Hip Oil and/ or TO NMF Moisturiser Do you use anything else at the moment? The general rule of thumb for order of application is: 1. Water-based serums 2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations 3. Creams & suspensions Important: If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first). It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration. About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck. Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
I have sensitive skin but I didn’t know I can’t use it. Is there a chance for me to see if it works for me? And if I stop using the acid can I stop using sunscreen right away?
Do not listen to her. Always wear sunscreen if you are inside or outside, sunny or cloudy. UVB light can penetrate through closed blinds which contribute to premature aging and skin cancer. Sunscreen is so beneficial to our skin, its the best anti aging product out there (other than Vit A; retinoids)
Anselmo Quidangen um did you read what the original commenter said? They asked if you should use it at night. And last I looked outside, there’s no sun at night time. Jfc
@@ginamoten2285 The original commenter actually said she uses the product only at night but regardless of when you use the product, YOU SHOULD ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN. UV rays come through blinds and are present in summer and/or winter, rain or shine. Anselmo is 100% correct!!
Hey😊 What's your skin type, and what are your skin concerns? Do you use anything else along with the Ordinary products? Caffeine Solution and Niacinamide can be applied daily AM and/or PM. The Caffeine Solution is being applied right after cleansing, but when using the peeling solution, then after the peeling solution. Lactic Acid is recommended using in the PM routine before using Niacinamide. The Peeling solution is recommended being applied 1-2 times per week. Please do not use the Lactic Acid the same day when using the peeling solution.
Yes you can use them at the same time! However you should use the lactic acid only once a day ideally in the evening. AM: 1.Wash your face 2.Niacinamide Pm: 1.Wash your face 2. Lactic Acid 3. Niacinamide

Hi Melissa 😊 I am very glad that I discovered your channel and you make videos like this! - you help a lot of people. I have a question btw, should I use lactic acid every night? ( I am breaking out really bad)
Hello 😀 Well, do you breakout because of the lactic acid? If this is the case, stop using it. It depends on the skin, and some people can use it daily others don't. This is very individual, and you have to test it and see what works best for you.
Well, yes you can, however I do not recommend this combination when you're new to acids as this may be too strong. Your skin has to build up the tolerance before using them together in the same routine.
1) after cleanser
2) 3 to 5 drops
3) can be used daily, recommended in the evening
4) u can rub or gently tap it in
4) no rinse

Hey😊
For how long do you use this routine? And do those products work for your skin concerns?
Well, I recommend that you talk to your dermatologist if it is fine to include the Niacinamide and Lactic Acid in your routine, to make sure that you won't come across any issues since you're using two prescribed products to treat acne.
Also, I wouldn't recommend using Witch Hazel (in general) but mostly not in your PM routine when using the Lactic acid since the Ordinary doesn't recommend using multiple Acids in one routine.
This is what your skincare routine will look like with the Niacinamide and Lactic Acid:
AM:
-Cerave foaming facial cleanser
-Witch Hazel
- Niacinamide
-Aczone
-Tatcha water cream Moisturizer
-SPF
PM:
-Farmacy Green Clean
-Cerave foaming facial cleanser
- Lactic acid (when you're not using the Epiduo Forte)
-Epiduo Forte
-Peter Thomas Roth green relief Moisturizer

You probably need to use more than 3 drops. Use about 4-6 drops for your face and neck as its texture is very thin. I did a new video about it just recently! :)
Thanks a lot for helping me understand the ordinary so well
You are most welcome
Perfect timing my lactic acid just came today and thank you for the informative vids I love how you get straight to the point 💕 also should I use the azelaic acid and glycolic acid in the morning and then apply the lactic acid in the evening?
Hello again, 😀you shouldn't use multiple acids in one routine. You can alternate between the acids.
Like this:
Pm1
1.Wash your face
2. Azelaic Acid
Pm2
1. Wash your face
2. Glycolic Acid or Lactic Acid
3. Granactive Retinoid 2%
4. Optional Hyaluronic Acid or Moisturizer
Edit: And do not forget to patch test especially with the acids and the retinoid :)
Hey😊
Thank you!🥰
Have you already bought one of the Ordinary exfoliators? If not, I recommend starting with Mandelic Acid which exfoliates the skin in a gentle way and still evens out the skin tone.
I used it myself for an entire month, along with other Ordinary products as it was a routine for my skin concerns and I loved it a lot!😊
The fact that you have a moisturiser that has already Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide in it is great!
You would use the exfoliator after cleansing but before the moisturiser in your PM routine😊
Your skin looks flawless, wow! I'm curious to know what your actual morning/ night routine is.
Hey, 😀I used random products from The Ordinary for a whole month 😆, Basically the once that I showed on a daily base on my UA-cam channel. But I will do a short video about it in the coming days :)
This was awesome!! Thank you so much. I’ve subscribed and will definitely be back again. 😊

I lived in Uden for several years. So nice to hear your accent.
I was born in Luxembourg, but my father is dutch yes 🙂 I am glad that you like it. 😉
It has been many years since I lived in Uden. But it’s nice to know that I still can recognize the accent. Take care and be safe.
hi! can i use this with arbutin? also, do i need to dry my face before application or can i pat it in my damp face? great video !!
Hello 😀 yes there are no conflicts. I would use the Lactic Acid first! You can pat your skin dry and apply it on the face. :)
Could u use Niacinamide in the morning and lactic acid at night??
Yes that's fine😊
The instructions on the box says “Contact of the product with the skin must be of limited frequency or duration.” I thought it had to be rinsed out? Im confused.
No, this means that you should only use it when needed, so as long as your skin needs it, use it, otherwise stop it. Leave it on the skin, there is no need to rinse it off! It's a leave-on exfoliant, not like the Ordinary Peeling Solution :)
I loved your way of explaining I discovered your channel today I am very happy
Thanks and welcome 🥰
Thank you for the quick tutorial review! 👍🏾😇
i understand that we leave the lactic acid on the skin, but do we jsut wash it off in the morning? i know it sounds dumb, but im overthinking it. your video is super helpful.
Cleanser
Toner (Soothing toner)
Exfoliant (Lactic Acid)
Serums (Water-Based, Anhydrous Solutions + Oil Formulations)
Moisturizer&Suspensions

@@ceria797 You don't have to use a toner, but it can be very beneficial to use it before applying your exfoliant! Keep in mind, the Ordinary toning solution is a toner and exfoliant in one, so you would need t use one from a different brand.

Hi love the videos you do such great demonstrations, do I use the lactic acid in the morning and at night or just in the morning and how many times a day should I use my Niacinamide serum
If you can, I would recommend using the Lactic Acid in the evening.
Niacinamide can be used daily in the morning and/or evening whatever works the best for you.
If you want to start off slowly, you can also only use it once per day😊
Thx a lot. Imma use it for the 1st time and now I know how to. 🐱
This video can help me how to use the ordinary lactic acid properly tq very much!😘👍
Is it fine if I use an oil after the lactic acid or do I use it with the hyaluronic acid only ? + Your videos are so helpful thank you!!
You can use an oil after the lactic acid, but you can also use Hyaluronic Acid. It mainly depends on what you want to achieve :)
This was the routine when I started with their products:

Thank you for explaining this so carefully 💖
You're welcome! 😃
Helloo Melissa, thank you so much for the video❤️ I wanted to ask you if it would be ok to apply some moisturizer after the lactic acid? So, to include it in the routine after cleansing and before moisturizing.
Yes of course, you can apply your favorite moisturizer after the lactic acid :)
Cleanser
Lactic Acid
Moisturizer
When is the best time to use this in the night or morning? Cuz I also bought the alpha arbutin with it ☺️☺️
Use it in your PM routine😊
- Cleanse
- Lactic Acid
- Alpha Arbutin
- (Optional) Oil and/or moisturiser
But you can use the Alpha Arbutin in the morning as well, this depends on what else you use and when you want to use it😊
I recommend using Alpha Arbutin once per day (at the beginning) but can be used daily so, that your skin can get used to it and then you may want to use it twice per day😊
Also, Lactic Acid can also be used daily but if you're fairly new to this product - start with 2-3 times per week and slowly increase it😊
Can I apply a moisturizer after using the lactic acid?? And is my routine enough?
Am
CeraVe hydrating cleanser

Hi, can I just continue using my regular moisturizer (it contains dead see minerals) after I applied the peeling solution? ☺️☺️
Yeah, that's fine 😊
Have a look at Mandelic Acid which is the gentlest before using anything else :) Make sure to use it in a separate routine from the Paula's Choice BHA or replace it with Mandelic Acid :)
Btw, how does the PC Benzoyl Peroxide treatment performs? :) I really want to try it but I can't get it here :(
Does anyone know if I can use the cold pressed rose hip seed oil after the lactose acid 10%?? I’m scared to mix them!!

hey melissa i got three ordinary products today and i’m not sure how to use them in order or separately. i got the Niacininamide 10% + Zinc 1%, hyaluronic acid 2%+ B5, Lactic acid 10%+HA
Hello again :) You can use them in the same routine or for example like this:
AM:
Cleanser
Hyaluronic Acid 2%
Niacinamide 10%
(SPF)
PM:
Cleanser
Lactic Acid 10%
(Optional Hyaluronic Acid 2%)
Niacinamide 10%
However, if you have never used any acids before, I recommend trying a patch test first.
Also, use it 2-3 times a week and then apply it more often if needed. You have to see what works best for your skin. It all depends on the skin concerns that you have.
Some general information:
It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration.
About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.
Use a "patting" application method, as opposed to "rubbing."
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
Some products can have a foaming effect upon application depending on the other products you are using in your regimen. The foaming should not last longer than a few seconds and both should not remain sticky once absorbed into the skin. (Video: ua-cam.com/video/r04W7rQV1R0/v-deo.html)
"Pilling" (snakeskin, shedding) can occur due to too much product. Your skin can only absorb a certain amount of product, and any excess will be left on top of the skin so that when the next product is being applied, it rubs off. (Video: ua-cam.com/video/l_C7HtO826A/v-deo.html)
If you wish to incorporate multiple Vitamin C's, Retinoids, and/or Direct Acids into your skincare regimen, it's suggested using them on alternate evenings and waiting until your skin has adjusted to one before introducing another.

Yes, that's fine. Or use Azelaic Acid in the AM (depending on the rest of your routine). And Lactic Acid in the PM.
If you are new to Lactic Acid, you may want to use it 2-3 times per week for a while and see how your skin reacts to it before using it may be more often during the week :)

PM:
Clean
Lactic Acid 5% ( It's excellent for dry skin, and you can use it on a daily base! www.paulaschoice.de/en/all-about-exfoliants)
Hyaluronic Acid
Niacinamide
(Optional Moisturizer)
About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.
Always apply sunscreen when you are exposed to the sun!!
Please note that with any active ingredient that affects skin behaviour, there can be an initial purging period during which breakouts are normal. Trying test patches of each new product first will allow you to identify whether you are sensitive or intolerant to a particular formulation.

There's so many products of the ordinary that it can be a little overwhelming trying to figure out what I need lol.

hey Melissa, I had recently faced skin reaction from using The Ordinary's peeling solution.

Hey Melissa, I just want to ask if I’m using the Niacinamide and the Hyaluronic acid on my face, did I have to use the Latic Acid too?TYSM😊
Hello Ahmad,
No, you don't have to, but if you want to use an exfoliant, you can use Lactic Acid.
Exfoliant/Lactic Acid = For example, to eliminate dead skin cells and increase skin hydration.
So you can apply it like this:
Cleanser
Lactic Acid 5%
Hyaluronic Acid
Niacinamide
(If you have oily skin, you can add an antioxidant such as Pycnogenol 5% or Resveratrol and Ferulic Acid 3%)
(If you have dry skin, you can add a moisturizer suitable for dry skin)
Generally speaking, there is no need for the last steps; however, see how your skin behaves and adjust it based on your skin needs.
Melissa Van Dijk when can I use the ordinary toner in this order?
@@victoriatlifts Do you mean the order I listed above?
The Ordinary is not a toner as we know it as it still exfoliates the skin and contains 7% of Glycolic Acid...you can either use Lactic Acid or Glycolic Acid in your routine..using both would be too strong for the skin, which may can also irritate the skin as it's like you would double exfoliate...
If you are looking for a toner, use one that doesn't contain AHA or BHA in it, when using either Lactic or Glycolic Acid.
I like for example the Paula's Choice ENRICHED CALMING TONER😊

@Ema Landeka that's why you should always patch test before applying it on your face. But for how long did it last? And what else have you been using?

You can use the Niacinamide once or twice per day/daily, however, if you're new to it, I recommend using it once per day until your skin has adjusted to it before using it twice per day.
Also, if you're new to acids, I recommend using them 2-3 times per week at the beginning so that your skin can adapt to it before you're using it daily😊
You could use it like this:
AM Routine:
- Cleanse
- Niacinamide
- (Optional) TO NMF Moisturiser
- SPF
PM Routine:
- Cleanse
- Lactic Acid
- (Niacinamide)
- Rose Hip Oil and/ or TO NMF Moisturiser
Do you use anything else at the moment?
The general rule of thumb for order of application is:
1. Water-based serums
2. Anhydrous Solutions and Oil Formulations
3. Creams & suspensions
Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, you can apply based on the priority of your concern (the product that targets the most important concern should go first).
It’s recommended using no more than 3 serum formulations in a single routine for optimal skin penetration.
About 2-3 drops of each serum and 1 pea-sized amount of creams should be enough for the full face and neck.

It depends on the skin, and some people can use it daily others don't. This is very individual, and you have to test it and see what works best for you.
Can you use Azelic Acid with lactic acid? Also big fan! Love all the ordinary videos! They help me a bunch!
Well, yes you can, however I do not recommend this combination when you're new to acids as this may be too strong. Your skin has to build up the tolerance before using them together in the same routine.
Very nice👍
