The only reason why they appear to be rare is because diamond miners artificially limit supply, basically like Supreme but 100-odd years ago. Yeah, it's honestly very believable, but at the same time you would question why the crew would not go for the other $80 million considering it didn't seem like time was too against them, unless weight/volume was an issue which would require a little more knowledge on the goods lost. If 50lbs or 2 duffels of diamonds a person totals $20 million then it's believable that they may have only stole that much. If that $20 million would only be 10lbs a person or something, then his claim would be more questionable.

    • @E1craZ4life
      @E1craZ4life 5 років тому +2

      There were five people involved in the heist, and $20 million is one-fifth of $100 million. Given that, I think the $20 million that has been accounted for was Notarbartolo's share of the loot, and the remaining $80 million was split between his four henchmen before Notarbartolo was arrested.

Three people are taken into custody at the moment because one got caught for a left behind, way too particular grinding wheel. I’ve read the book about this heist years ago, it stated some other facts, like for example the main character did not use a camera but had a photografic memory wich makes this even more spectaculair, besides when they left the diamond centre they stayed in Antwerpen for several days in their rented appartment, they agreed to leave one by one to italy with approximatly 8 to 10 hours between the next person to leave, the last one was told to take all the garbage bags out of the bins to burn them, but out of lazyness he trew them randomly out of his car on his way to italy. One of those bags was found by a farmer on his land next to the highway, it contained different types of currency, some small stones because they they took so much, garbage, and between all that the buisnisscard of the main character, if they didn’t find that, they would have never been caught. The money/diamonds however are never found 😂
