YES very sure of Dr.burkeshroom. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, BPD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures. This mental health treatment works for me too. Half micro doses do the trick for me. At least a few days at a time with lengthy time in between. Never addictive. Thank you for sharing this point!

I appreciate you mentioning the pet store as an easy source of woodchips too, thanks for the tip! Amazon is crazy expensive for that.
Hey! Do you got any tips? I'm going to start growing my own oyster mushrooms (blue, white) and I'm a first timer. By the way another good source of woodchips is an arborist, Chipdrop, or your local county landfill that processes mulch. I don't intend on paying for woodchips anytime soon :)

This is the most simple set up i've seen & with your effort & success to motivate & encourage me, i just might stop imagining & try. Maybe just not right away. I'll wait til the snow goes. 😄
im glad youre showing that you DONT need to be a neat freak and follow every single step that the mass producers do. i was really worried i HAD to sterilize everything while growing but this added some piece of mind. super insightful vid
you only REALLY need to sterlize everything if you're working with agars and cultures.. that's when it will make a huge difference, as contamination in the agar will ruin the sample. You SHOULD sterilize everything just with alcohol before combining your grain spawn and your substrate, to avoid any contamination that will reduce your harvest, but you'll likely still get a decent yield without doing so, unless you have black mold or something in the area you're working in
I grow mushrooms the same way he does and I find slightly better yields if I spray the bucket down with plain old rubbing alcohol and use really hot water on my wood chips. But aside from that, I've found no difference whether I'm extremely clean or not.
The amount of sterility required to grow is often overstated, but for good reason. You're better off being too careful and using slightly more alcohol, than not being careful enough and having to dump pounds of substrate (and waste the hours of work it took to prepare it) because everything got contaminated.
For anyone who loves mushrooms, I wanna share a recipe for mushroom snacks here. 1. Tear the oyster mushrooms(or any mushroom really) into strips, however wide you like. 2. Place mushroom strips in a bowl, add a drizzle of oil and soy sauce, pinch of cumin (really important), salt, sugar, chilli powder (optional), white sesame seeds (optional), garlic granules (optional). 3. Mix the seasonings well with the mushroom strips. 4. Place on a baking tray. Oven bake at 200 degrees Celcius, check every 10 min. When they harden(crispy) on edges and look cooked. Enjoy! 5. Or if you happen to have an AirFryer, 200 degrees Celcius for around 15 min roughly. Or check every 10 min. Pause and shake in between. Nom Nom~
Just cooked up my first batch of mushrooms I grew. Your bucket video helped so much! I like your common sense approach and the results were FABULOUS! Thank you!
I genuinely followed this guys instructions from beginning to end and was able to harvest my first oyster mushrooms after about 5ish weeks. Very low maintenance and I truly forgot about them at one point but I suggest to try it if you’re looking to grow something easy for yourself. I got my mushroom spawn from north spore and kept it in the fridge for a while before using it. The wood chips I got were from petco and I put it all in a standard home depot bucket. I suggest putting it in a shady spot outside because the spores may irritate some and cause excessive coughing.
we use to have a mushroom farm and I think I can give few tips I noticed from it... 1) The spawn should be completely broken to grains keeping chunks will waste lot of spawn and reduces the fungus growth compared to grains 2) The moisture in chips is very important this is how I check is it right for bagging...IF YOU HOLD THE WET CHIPS IN HAND AND DROP THEM, THE WATER SHOULD EVAPERATE IMMEDIATELY 3) Never disturb the medium after packing till it completely turns white and hard 4)Placing the packed medium in clean and dark room will help it's growth My medium use to start cultivating in 10-14 days and will last a month for oyster and for milky it takes 40 days to see any signs of cultivation.
@@gouthamkumar1750 can suggest which university? I live in India. Or some other online detailed course, which teaches the whole process even for other mushrooms and on a bigger scale. I am new to it and want to eventually do it on a larger scale but for now want to just learn.
How exciting. I am forgoing a mushroom class today because it's brutally windy to drive through miles of Australian pine trees----they fall, often---and I don't want to die. So, I decided to check YT----and, here I am. My first lesson. Thanks!!!
Before watching, Its good to see a video that I wont have to get sterilized before trying myself. You wouldn't believe how many mushroom tutorials say its a "MUST" to be sterile first.

There are several ideas worth trying choose the top type - there are many available. grow them in the right environment - some eg oyster muchrooms like cool humid areas and may be put outdoors (I discovered these and the reasons they work from gregs mushroom grower website )
I ordered mycelium 4 days ago and Aspen shaving's to do just this. I cannot wait to try this method. I'm also doing some grow beds with straw. You've inspired me.
Pufferella what if i take the mysellium from a baglog full of oyster mushroom hyphae and put it in a new bag with random woodchips? will it grow? and what would go wrong?
If you want to get rid of a stump put a oyster cap in a bag of wood dowels cut to about an inch long. When the mycelium runs throughout drill holes in the stump so the plugs fit snug and pound them in. I did a elm that way and got many blooms over 3 years and now the stump can be kicked over with my foot.

I find this video educational. I love oyster mushrooms because of their health benefits. I am always intrigued about how they are grown. I appreciate this video! I 1st saw it a couple of weeks ago & I got so excited about it that I was gathering my tools & drill bits the very next morning & at the same time, I had my 22 quart PC going, sterilizing the different substrates that I planned to mix together in a large tote that I thoroughly washed & wiped down inside and out with 70%ISP, including the lid. It was an all-day project & I had to run the PC 4 times for all the ingredients that were going to end up filling my bucket to the top. I just didn't have any wood chips to work with. My ingredients were coffee grounds, wood pellets, pearlite and my secret ingredient, half of a large paper grocery bag, stuffed with cannabis trimmings!😉😂👍 I didn't do any layering. I thoroughly mixed everything in tote as came out of the PC. I had barely 2# of pearl & pink oyster mycelium left over from a recent grow that hadn't gone through a second flush and when the other mixture was cool enough not to kill my mycelium, I dumped it on top and thoroughly broke it up into small pieces and mixed it all up & filled my new drilled out, washed & sanitized grow bucket right up to the top. I somehow estimated perfectly the amounts of material for my substrate. I left the filled bucket out on the deck for a few hours to drain off excess liquid before I moved it into the basement & put it on one of my dogs leftover potty pads from when he was a pup.😉 I had maybe a cup leftover in the tote, and I rinsed that out onto the top of my compost pile. And YES!, 2 days ago I carefully scratched my way into the compost pile and I have mycelium production spreading quickly through the pile.😁 My bucket is fast colonizing in the basement, with probably a couple more weeks before fruiting. I can hardly wait!!🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄🍄

Hey man this is actually a really interesting video you should do more videos about growing mushrooms maybe even how people historically would grow mushrooms in the past
Nice marijuana early bud profile pic. I find it so strange we build laws around certain plants and certain mushrooms.. I can understand drugs that are synthesized or even processed or concentrated. Maybe. But if an adult wants to grow marijuana or psilocybin producing mushrooms, he should be allowed to. I mean there's no law stopping an adult from drinking an entire gallon of whiskey, or bleach. Why can't we eat stuff which in some places grows on its own naturally. Sorry for the off topic rant. I don't even use marijuana or magic mushrooms. I do love non-psychoactive mushrooms though, growing and eating them.
@@the_original_Bilb_Ono What are the laws in USA? In Czech republic you can have 4 marihuana plants and pick as many halucingen mushrooms as you want, but cannot sell it.
@@tymak_cz depending on the state, laws can range widely on marijuana. from completely legal to completely illegal (such as in my state in the south usa aka the "bible belt") completely illegal to grow, possess, smoke, eat, etc for any reason. and as for magic mushrooms i believe they are illegal to grow or own in every state in the usa - even though they grow naturally in the wild - you arent allowed to eat them. i believe some states make an exception for studies and research. again, there are federal laws in usa, and then there are state laws. pretty much anything that the federal laws dont touch is game for the states to continue regulating.
@@tymak_cz often times you have laws which the federal government imposes which conflict with the state laws. you can get many "gray areas" with these things. where it really isnt clear on what is allowed - depending on who youre asking.

Instead of using a 5 gallon bucket, I would use a 24-48 inch section of 8-12 inch perforated plastic sewer pipe. Also known as DWV pipe used for lateral flows for septic tank drain fields. You can put a glue cap over one end and use a clean out screw on removable cap on the top. I have used this same method for growing strawberries and other vegetables, fruits for years. You could also try modifying, adding a solar powered drip irrigation system to help keep it moist and automate the watering process. Patio misting to keep the area cool will also aid with watering and humidity issues. Due to the 115 degree temperature during the summer days I often have to start my garden plants in a old barn with a root cellar that is perfect for things like mushrooms or other dark humidity loving plants or fungi. I hope this helps you out and gives you some more ideas on how to make your growing season better and easier. SHW
I like your idea of your pipes is PP, but I dislike it if it's PVC. And I want to try aluminum pipes, because they are more durable and they have high thermal conductivity, thus preventing overheating.

you only REALLY need to sterlize everything if you're working with agars and cultures.. that's when it will make a huge difference, as contamination in the agar will ruin the sample.
I live in a hot climate I.e. the Caribbean do I need to still spray the mushrooms when I put them outside to fruit???
@Christopher Cirnigliaro thank you so much for your reply.
Nom Nom~
Nice!!
Thanks for sharing that recipe.

Yay insomnia!!!!
we use to have a mushroom farm and I think I can give few tips I noticed from it...
1) The spawn should be completely broken to grains keeping chunks will waste lot of spawn and reduces the fungus growth compared to grains
2) The moisture in chips is very important this is how I check is it right for bagging...IF YOU HOLD THE WET CHIPS IN HAND AND DROP THEM, THE WATER SHOULD EVAPERATE IMMEDIATELY
3) Never disturb the medium after packing till it completely turns white and hard
4)Placing the packed medium in clean and dark room will help it's growth
My medium use to start cultivating in 10-14 days and will last a month for oyster and for milky it takes 40 days to see any signs of cultivation.

My ingredients were coffee grounds, wood pellets, pearlite and my secret ingredient, half of a large paper grocery bag, stuffed with cannabis trimmings!😉😂👍
I didn't do any layering. And YES!, 2 days ago I carefully scratched my way into the compost pile and I have mycelium production spreading quickly through the pile.😁
My bucket is fast colonizing in the basement, with probably a couple more weeks before fruiting.

SHW
