When I started drumming in the mid 80's this was the kit I always a wanted. A wooden finish 5 piece Ludwig. We had a white kit in the high school that I would see when we did our music class concerts there. The Ludwig toms and bass drums just have this powerful, robust, and warm tone to them.
I have a USA Keystone Classic Birch that sounds Incredible. My Neighbor was moving in with his Girlfriend. 1st mistake and his Father bought him the kit New in High school. I wasn’t even looking for a Kit until I seen them and played them. All Ludwig Hardware with new Zildjian Sabian B8 with new K High hats. He wanted 950 which was a Deal. Got him down to 650.00 for everything. Yep. He since moved back and is begging for them back. No friggn way. Not a scratch on them. Still had plastic wrap around kick drum.
Nice sounding drums good tuning and good playing is what count hope to see more drum demo people do the same let the drums do the talking and show your drumming skill

Every drum demonstration I see, the drummer plays at fortissimo beating the drums loudly and forcefully in a rock Style. These drum demonstrations lack taste by the drummers to demonstrate the drums qualities at different sound levels. I get tired of hearing banging banging out of the drum demonstrations. All these different drums with different wood combinations all sound alike because of the Neanderthal approach to drum demonstrations. Yes, I could do a better job.

Agreed. DW sound dead from a distance. Ludwigs have much more presence.
Just curious, are the bottom tom heads a lot looser than the top? The tuning seems off, especially on the 13.

This is the setup I started on being a 12,13,16 instead of going to a 10 from the snare drum which I despise.

Nothing if you like a wimpy high pitched noise or if you play jazz. But for rock it's got to be big & bad!

Reso heads pretty tight. make sure they are at least tighter than the batter.
